Well, this is my first entry in a long time. Again. Man, idk why but when my creative writing muses fled to Timbuktu (or wherever), I suddenly found it impossible to keep up with my personal LJ as well. =/

BUT. My muses! They have returned! In fact, I've been VERY active with my writing the last month-and-a-bit. :3 Mostly within the realm of Valdemar fanfiction, but a little with my original writing as well. The only disappointment I've found with returning to the field of Velgarth fics is the lack of activity in the community. It's gone downhill a lot in the last few years, unfortunately.

Valdemar fic aside, I've also started writing a few things for the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fandom. I guess I'm just drawn to magical talking horses lol. XD;

Besides writing, the last month has been crazy since I moved a week ago. Again. I just can't seem to find a place I can stay in for very long, for one reason or another. Anyway, this new place is in an actual apartment building, and is the nicest place I've lived aside from when I was still at Mom's place. I'm sharing with my brother, so the rent is affordable for me too, which is good because my financial situation, as always, SUCKS. :P

In any case, now I'm up to my neck in boxes and haven't written much in the last week because of the move and then unpacking and everything. *shrug*

And that's about it for now. More tomorrow, I swear. I WILL KEEP UP WITH THIS JOURNAL DAMMIT. *epic fistshake at the sky*

HOKAY. I haven't updated in forever but I swear I have a good reason for it. ~A~;;

1) Basically, a little less than a month ago, I got a call from one of Mom's friends that she works with; she and her husband own a bunch of buildings around town that have been converted into apartments, and they had one come up available for the 1st of June.

I went O__O;; because it's totally last minute and I couldn't afford it really, between having to pay first and last and for the movers. Anyway, Mom convinced me to go look at the place anyway... and it's PERFECT. ;A; I was all *GRABBY HANDS* at it, but came home knowing I just wasn't going to be able to deal with the cost.

But when I told Mom all about the place, she kind of made the decision for me and made some calls to Grandma so that she and Mom could help me cover the moving costs. It's a lot of money, but she assured me that this is NOT a loan, it's a gift. Because she wants me out of her house. XD; lol. Not really, but the joking at least made me feel better. I hate having to take money from other people. =_=;;

Anyway, the apartment!

It's basically half of a house. It has a tiny postage-stamp front yard and a picket fence along the side that I'm going to hang flower baskets from. It also has a little strip of grass at the bottom of the fence that I'm going to line with planters as well. I WANT A GARDEN AGAIN, EVEN IF IT'S JUST A TINY ONE. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO HAVE ONE IN YEARS.

Then the screen door leads into a tiny little sunroom/mudroom where I can keep my recycle bins, trash can, and shovel/salt in the winter. Then the next door is the main one, and it leads into the downstairs part of the apartment. This is supposed to just be an entryway, but it's big enough that I can use it for that purpose AND as another actual room, as well as possibly for some minor storage. I'm considering putting my craft workspace for beading and the like down there once I find another desk.

Then to get to the main apartment, you go up a nice wide staircase. At the top is a bit of wall (a bookshelf will go there), and then the bathroom, which is of course small, but totally nice and clean and modern. ♥

Next is the kitchen, WHICH IS BIG ENOUGH TO FIT MY HUGE 4-FOOT FREEZER AND A TABLE. It's not gigantic, but it's easily at least 4x the size of my last two kitchens, and probably twice the size of the kitchen here at Mom's. She's going to be jealous. XD!

After the kitchen is the bedroom, which is maybe 1/4 again the size of the kitchen. Again, not huge, but still bigger than my room here. In there is going my bed, my reading books, my dresser, Aya's terrarium, the other snake terrarium (I'm getting another sand boa in a few months) and either the piranha tank or the turtle tank (I'm leaning toward the piranha.)

The next room is the living room, which is a little bigger than the bedroom. There goes the sofa, rocking chair, movie shelves, TV stand & etc, reference books and probably the turtle tank. Also the end tables and the goldfish aquarium once I get it set up. FISHIES! X3

Next to the living room and at the end of the hall is a SECOND little sunroom, which is where the bunnies are going to live, where the kitty litter box is going, and where my little indoor-herb-garden will go, as well as my upside-down strawberry planters and tomato planter. The plants will looooove it in there!

And on the wall just outside the second sunroom will be the pet shelves/cabinets where the food and etc. will be kept, and one shelf of those is where the tarantula terrarium will go. And that's it! :D

I'm so excited! I'll take pics and post them once I've gotten all moved in. ♥

2) Mom and Lee... are in Hawaii right now. *EPIC FISTSHAKE* DAMN YOU, PARENTS! Haha, no, I'm kidding. It's their 20th anniversary this year and they NEVER take vacations. They deserve it. And Hawaii is somewhere they both have wanted to go forever, so good for them! They're seeing the cultural center and touring Pearl Harbour, and they're going to go through the international market.

I told them they had to do the following:

1) Go to Pearl Harbour.
2) See a luau.
3) Buy me an awesome souvenir.
and 4) Not get eaten by a shark. O__O;;

3) My new turtle, Genbu! The one that I rescued a few weeks back. Until now, he's been living in a TINY terrarium that is WAY too small for him, the poor guy. But I didn't have anywhere else to keep him. At least he had a little pond and lots of food, right? I still felt guilty though.

Anyway, the pet store downtown that I got Aya from have an indoor pond that has some turtles in it about Genbu's size. Today I was downtown and I asked the owner if he might be willing to take Genbu and add him to the pond so that he would be living in the proper conditions. I explained the situation and everything.

He apologized but had to say no. Turns out like a week ago he went to a turtle rescue out of town and adopted three more turtles for the pond, so now he has six; and this maxes out the pond. He can't put any more turtles in there or it will be too crowded. He said that if he had the room he definitely would have taken him, though.

I told him it was okay, but kind of sighed because it's not that I don't want to KEEP Genbu, it's just not fair to him to have to live in such a tiny unsuitable terrarium. =/

So the owner kind of looked at me for a minute, and then told me that he admires what I'm trying to do, so he's going to DONATE a 170 GALLON TANK for FREE so that I can give Genbu the kind of home he needs. ;A; That is the kind of thing the people from that store do. They genuinely CARE about animals. It's not just a business to them.

I thanked him a million times, obviously. I still have to buy the filter for it, but that's a tiny amount of money in comparison. He even said he would deliver it to the new apartment once I've moved! It was so incredible...

4) Today I went downtown intending to go to Blockbuster to look at previously viewed movies, but when the bus arrived at the main street... there was a sidewalk sale going on. O_o;

Twice every summer we have a massive sidewalk sale where the main street is closed off and all kinds of vendors set up shop for the weekend. It's always fun and nice to wander around and look at everything. I usually spend $20 or so and bring apples for the ponies at the pony rides they set up for the kids. ♥

Anyway, so rather than just go to Blockbuster and then home, I ended up meandering around. I talked to the pet shop owner (see above lol) and got to pet their store mascot, Calvin the alligator.

I got a candy and chocolate cookbook, a set of meditation balls, and a couple cheap used DVDs from a bin (The Rats and Darkness Falls.) I also got a couple of leather bracelets for cosplay later this summer, as well as some phone straps for peeps I have packages for. And one of the booths gave me some free popcorn, which was deliciously yummy and buttery. :3

Haha, I did end up going to Blockbuster afterward, though, and I picked up copies of Skyline, Planet Terror, Paranormal Activity 2, Arachnia and Resident Evil: Afterlife for really cheap. Yay movies~!

5) AND! So, to raise some more money for Otakon and the 'States this summer, I've decided to have a huge bake sale. ^_^ I can break in my kitchen and have fun and hopefully make some spare cash at the same time. And then anything I don't manage to sell I can freeze or give away to family/friends or to the various charities around town. ♥
senashenta: (Tail Whip)
My sleeping schedule is all messed up. ~_~;; As usual. /whatever.

So I guess the big news the last couple of days is that Tia is in heat.

Even though I GOT HER SPAYED all the way back in NOVEMBER. >__O;;

IDK, I looked it up online and I guess if the vet missed a bit of one of her ovaries during the surgery that would explain it.

But still, it's frustrating and annoying and she is LOUD right now. Plus 'Dion is humping her every time we turn around (he's due to be neutered next month, but I guess he's old enough to have figured it out. :P) I'm going to call the vet on Monday and go "ummm... I paid you to spay her to avoid this very thing. FIX IT PLZ." and hopefully they'll do it without complaining too much.

Other than that, I'm pretty much done unpacking now. Just four more boxes to go. Between one thing and another it's taken longer than I intended, but at least now Lee won't be on my case about boxes being all over the house anymore. XD;;

I can't find the box with my framed photos though, and that's kind of upsetting. I guess I'll have to print new copies of the ones I really want and buy new frames. HEY MADDIE/CHLOE/PRONNIE! SCAN OUR GROUP PIC FROM THE AQUARIUM LAST SUMMER AND MAIL IT TO ME? It's one of the ones that I really want in a frame... the rest of them I think I have on either Z or Squall, I just have to locate them.

Oh, and I'm setting up a musebox for listing all my rp journals and stuff finally. [ profile] vilyaore, which used to be my NaNo journal so right now it's still filled with Wednesday's Child stuff, which I need to copy + paste to my HD before I delete it from the journal itself...

EDIT: OH ALSO. RAINBOW BOA!! This is the next snake I am aiming for. They're not gigantic, are mid-range difficulty to take care of (they need very specific heat/humidity) but they are GORGEOUS. Their scales have an iridescent sheen to them, which makes them kind of glow in various colours depending on the light. LOOK AT HOW PRETTY THEY ARE!! ♥♥♥

And I've decided I also want an Iriyan Jaya Carpet Python. On doing more research, the Blood Python is much too large. The Hog Island Boa is still a contender though...

First update in a while. Life just... well, let's put it this way: FUCK LIFE. ~_~;;

I guess let's start with last Tuesday evening. )

Typing all of that out was really hard. It hurts to think about it, and even more so to talk about it. I kept having to take breaks to cry. ;__;

Everything with Tri aside... the move was a nightmare. I moved the day after Tri died, and I don't know... I didn't handle it very well. I hadn't slept in days, and I just kept bursting into tears randomly, over stupid little things.

So moving sucked. A lot.

Other than that, I've been working on getting my aquarium up and running. I set it up here a couple weeks ago to run so that it would be ready for fish when I moved. So a few days ago I got some tetras, a pleco and some ghost shrimp to test the tank out and make sure it was running okay.

Since then a few tetras have died, but things have stabilized so today I picked up a second pleco (the first one was too small to do the job on his own) and three red bellied piranha. Haha, I've wanted them forever so I finally decided to give them a shot.

They're tiny right now because they're juveniles, but they're actually getting along well with the tetras and plecos (not bothering them at all) and ignoring the ghost shrimp all together. They're eating the tropical flake fish food, which I'll supplement with some fish (from the grocery store, not live ones) and fruits/veggies every few days.

Right now they're snacking on an orange slice.

Oh. And right now I have a massive chest cold and my sinuses are infected. Fucking awesome.

Still busy with packing and emoing over the whole last couple of weeks. Bah.

At least today I got my last month's rent back from my current landlord. This means I can afford groceries for the rest of the month, and can pick Nyoka up from the pet store finally. Also means I'll have a little money to spend on Friday when Mom takes me on my belated-birthday-day-out to Barrie.

That aside, even with the baseboard heaters and the two space heaters, it is FREEZING in here tonight. Winter's finally settling in, I guess. Took it long enough. Cream of wheat is helping to warm me up, though.

TL;DR version of the last week:

The apartment I was so excited over? Turned out to be a scam. Now I'm down $1200 (most of which Mom fronted me, so I owe her a fuckton of money again), and because I already gave notice at my current apartment the landlord has rented it to someone else starting Feb 1st. So as of Jan 31st I'm out on my ass.

Mom and Lee are letting me move back in with them for the time being until I can find another place, but even knowing I'm not going to be homeless... I hate it. This is the closest I've come to feeling suicidal in about three years. (Before anyone panics, I have thoughts/feelings like that relatively regularly because of the bi-polar, but I would never actually do anything about them.)

So basically, FML. FML SO HARD. =____=;;

On a more upbeat topic, Sarah invited me, Mom and Lee over for dinner tomorrow, so I decided to bake a cake tonight to bring with; lemon cake with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries and a lemon-raspberry glaze. Will be nom-worthy. *nod*

While things with the new apartment are still somewhat up in the air and I'm flailing about that, today was actually a pretty good day...

First of all, when I gave notice to my current landlord, he asked me to clean the apartment up and make it spic-n-span for while he's showing it to prospective tenants. Makes sense. He also asked that I find somewhere else for the rabbits and rats to live for the time being, as that many caged animals could put people off.

So this morning Mom came over and we loaded up the buns and ratties and took them all over to her house, where they will have a little vacation for the next couple weeks. No problem, though carrying the huge cages up and down the stairs was a pain. :P

Then, I went out! 8D

Lee and his band had a gig at Players in Barrie (it's a bar/grill) from 3pm to 8pm, and Mom was going so I went along too. Lee's been playing with them for a year now and I still hadn't actually seen them preform, so~

The bar was crowded (and got more crowded as the day progressed), but Mom and I found a booth in the corner where I was relatively comfortable despite the crowd, and we chatted and listened to music and drank coffee and pepsi because neither of us are all that into drinking-drinking.

lol, then it turned out that tonight was Players' customer appreciation night, so they had free burgers and hotdogs, and free appetizers (and also cheap alcohol). Basically, they fired up the grill outside despite it being the middle of the winter, and when you wanted a burger or hotdog you just wandered out and got one (until supplies ran out.)

THEIR BURGERS ARE FREAKING AMAZING. I have never had a burger that good before. It blew everything else completely out of the water. I am totally going back there again just for that, if nothing else.

Then they put out trays of various appetizers; shredded steak, jalepeno poppers, mozarella sticks, hot wings, onion rings, salami, cheese and a bunch of vegetables. I tried one or two of everything except the salami and cheese... AND OMGWTF IT TURNS OUT ALL OF THEIR FOOD IS AMAZING! I EVEN LIKED THEIR WINGS, AND I HATE WINGS. =O

So basically, Mom and I ate tons of delicious food, and only paid for our drinks and a plate stuffed potato skins that she ordered. FUCK YEAH THAT'S A WIN IN MY BOOK.

Maddie and Chloe: We're gonna go there at least once when you come visit. Their food is awesome, their service is awesome, the atmosphere is awesome... basically? They're awesome. Plus I had a look at the menu and their prices are really good too. ♥

So we were there for about three and a half hours, and I totally enjoyed myself. With all the stress lately, just going out like that was something I really needed. I didn't even realize how much I needed it until we were on our way home.

Even if it was kinna strange to be in a bar with my mother. XD

Having a TMI day. Bah. ~_~;

Also, there's a chance the new apartment will fall through. Fucking hell. Cross your fingers for me that it all works out, but I might be stuck here anyway. Assuming the landlord for this place will even let me stay considering I already gave him notice that I was moving. =/
senashenta: (Durr...)
Yesterday was my birthday, and the highlight of it was when I went for a walk. To the bank. Only to get there and find it closed, at which point I remembered it was a bank holiday. =/

I did get some birthday wishes from friends on FB, and Grandma called me (and spent half the conversation lecturing me, as per normal.) And Mom wished me a happy birthday as well, but only after I called her to discuss a completely different subject. The worst part is that I'm not even disappointed that things went that way, because that's pretty much how my birthday always is anymore. It kinda sucks, all things considered.

Anyway, today I went back downtown and wired last month's rent and the security deposit to the landlord for the new apartment. $740 poorer, I then pulled my last $40 from the bank for groceries tomorrow. I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to pay for groceries from then until the end of the month, but I guess I'll manage somehow.

I then spent the afternoon trying to get in contact with my disability case worker (because they're supposed to be paying for last month's rent/security deposit, but I can't fucking get ahold of Susan so I had to pay for it myself and get the money back from them later on) and my current landlord (because I need to get January's rent back from him, since I paid 1st/last rent when I moved here and since January will be my last month it's already covered, but ODSP has already sent him rent for January...)

Still no word from my worker, but at least my landlord called back. He says he can get the rent back to me later this month, and wants me to clean the apartment up so he can have people start to come over and view it to rent it out when I'm gone. Of course the place is already clean, but I'll give it another once-over just to be sure.

The only problem is that he wants me to move the rabbits/rats somewhere else while he's actively showing the place. =/ So I've asked Mom if they could go to her place until the end of the month. If she says no then I've got nowhere else to take them, so they have to stay here. idk, I guess we'll see.

I've started packing. Mostly knicknacks from my shelves, since they need to go into smaller boxes (which is all I've got right now) and I can't pack up the books/movies/etc. that are on the same shelves until all the odds-and-ends are out of the way.

I have a few that I can't pack up yet, though, because I need newspaper to wrap them. Mom's going to bring some over tomorrow, along with a few boxes and all the plastic tubs that they were storing for me since I didn't have room for them here. Part way through January Mom and I are going to drive down to Dad's place to pick up a whole ton more boxes, since he can get them in the hundreds easily from his work. I've gotten the majority of my boxes from him the last two times I've moved as well.

...and I'm suddenly feeling very sick to my stomach and I have no idea why. Also have a headache starting. Guess it's about time I go to bed, or at least settle down and finish watching the movie I have on. After I go throw up, of course. =/
senashenta: (Babbling Babbling Babbling)
I've been watching Kuragehime the last couple of days. I'd heard it was good, so I thought I'd try it out. IT IS SUCH A GOOD SHOW. So amusing. I'm having a lot of fun with it. I think I might look into the manga, too, probably after I move (because Barrie has a huge awesome Chapters that carries a TON of manga. X3) ♥

Yesterday was supposed to be grocery day, but we put it off until today instead. It wasn't a big deal today, I only needed a handful of things, like canned cat food, catmilk, rabbit food and milk for me. I also got Oreos because they were on sale and I luff them. :3 That was all. Between Christmas and everything I haven't actually used anything up around here other than milk lol. xD;

While I was at the grocery store I pilfered some empty boxes. They aren't huge but I can use them for packing my figures and knicknacks. The bigger boxes that I'm getting from Dad and etc. are better for bigger things, and packing books and DVDs.

Mmmmm... I need some bits of furniture for the new place, too. More shelves, two beds, a coffee table, a kitchen/dining table and at some point a new couch. (I couldn't fit any of those things in this current apartment, so I don't have them. :P)

And I'm going to buy some paint to paint some of my current furniture so that at least all the pieces in the living room will match. I don't care so much if all the stuff in the bedrooms is the same, but I'd like the main room to look decent. Pfft, I guess I'm maturing a little, since I never used to care if my living room furniture matched or anything. xD;; This revelation makes me a little sad lmao.

Also, I just realized last night that I have NEVER posted pics of my current apartment for you guys. *facepalm* I'll have to take pics quickly before I start packing. >>;
senashenta: (Nekkie Christmas Twins)
I hope everyone out there had a great Christmas! ^_^

My Christmas was good, I'm happy to say. All of December had been really stressful and depressing and I've been having a lot of trouble, so I wasn't really looking forward to Christmas because the 24/25/26th are always the most busy days for our family. But I was actually able to relax and enjoy things, which was nice.

On the 24th I did very little, just hung out around the house and cleaned, played with the cats and finished last-minute gift stuff.

That day a package from Maddie and Chloe came in the mail, which made me really happy. ♥ It had Cheesy Enchilada Hamburger Helper (♥!!), some lotion that I wanted for Lois and my Christmas gift in it; some pretty beads, and a bracelet with matching earrings that Maddie made-- they are gorgeous, and I LOVE them, and they even matched my Christmas outfit perfectly, so I wore them to the family get together on the 26th, where I got lots of compliments on them. :3

The next morning Mom picked me up around 11 and took me and all my gifts for everyone over to her place, and we finished up the last bits of cooking/baking for the family gathering. Then Grandma got there around 1pm, and we all exchanged gifts.

I gave Grandma her souvenirs from my trip to the US in the summer (finally lol) and her Christmas present was a glass vase with decorative butterflies and a candle. I got Lee a wall clock shaped like a guitar (a Gibson, which is the one he uses most out of his actual guitars), and some blank VHS tapes because the ones he's using right now are old and wearing out. Then I got Mom a decorative 3D wolf plate, two scented oil infusers, and copies of The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons on DVD. I also got two gifts that were for both of them; a wall sign ("Pomeranian Crossing" haha) and a bag of goodies (chocolates, cookies, etc.). And I got my brother three couch pillows (I got them at Matsuricon from the wonderful and insanely talented NeonDragon) and a copy of Gwenhwyfar by Mercedes Lackey. ♥

As for me, I got a whole set of new bakeware (two cookie sheets, two round cake tins, a loaf pan, a rectangular cake pan, a muffin pan and a pizza pan!!), an electric mixer (eee!! ♥♥), a DVD copy of Independence Day (to replace my worn-out VHS one), a zombie movie DVD set (Last of the Living; Grave Mistakes; Awaken The Dead and I Am Omega; my brother tells me I'm supposed to tell you all "HEAD NOMMING GOODNESS!"), money from Grandma, and a notebook that is my favourite thing I got this year. It's completely handmade including the paper, and free-trade. It's cover is etched leather with intricate designs and a pentagram on the front. X3!! It's going to be my recipe book, but Imma call it my spell/potion book lol.

And my brother got me the first season of Xena: Warrior Princess, but I already had it, so it's got to be exchanged for something else. Ah well~

Then we had dinner and everyone else played cards for a while. I, meanwhile, dyed my hair back to my natural colour so it would look nice for the family gathering, and also because I was sick of having the huge dark stripe down the middle of my head lol. XD

I went to bed pretty early that night because I had to get up early-ish the next morning to make the dip for the get-together (it took an hour in the slow cooker.) Then we all got dressed and ready and packed everything up, and headed out around 11am.

Now, a couple days earlier I had been surfing Kijiji, looking for a new terrarium for Aya because he's starting to outgrow his current one. I found one for $45 (as compared to $250 for a brand-new one), but it was in Barrie. But we were driving right through Barrie to get to my Uncle and Aunt's place for Christmas, so I asked if we could just stop to pick it up on the way past.

So I got it and brought it home last night after everything... and then kind of thought about it and it's kind of tall and thin, which is much better for an aquarium for fish than a snake terrarium. So I decided to set it up as an aquarium (I miss having fishies anyway) and found another terrarium that's more suitable for Aya's needs. It's being delivered tonight. :)

We got to the get-together around 1-ish and set up all the snacks and appetizers and everything, and then sat around and visited and just generally caught up with everyone until it was dinner time.

lol and after dinner we set out the desserts (there was a TON of delicious stuff!) and started the gift exchange (we all bring an anonymous gift, then we draw numbers and each of us can either open a new gift or steal someone else's.) There was a lot of good stuff this year; a couple nice blankets, a box of chocolates, a tea set, a set of glass bakeware and etc. I ended up with the glass bakeware (which I do kind of need for doing casseroles and that kind of thing, but Lee had ended up with a set of china popcorn bowls that he would never use (and neither would Mom or my bro) so I traded them. The bowls are actually good sizes; the big one can be used as a mixing bowl, and the smaller ones for a variety of things. Plus I can always borrow the glassware if I need to. XD;;

It was fun and very enjoyable. The only semi-bad part was that I had a run-in with a peanut butter cookie. =/

Aunt Clare had brought a tray of desserts, and most of them she had made but she included a few that a friend of hers had made too, and some of them turned out to have peanut butter in them. It was my fault too, because I'm so used to not having to worry about peanuts at family functions (because they all know about my allergy), I wasn't as careful as I normally am. But as soon as I bit into it I knew there was peanut butter in it, and spat it out without actually swallowing. Then I rinsed my mouth out. A LOT.

Poor Clare felt so bad about it, but it wasn't her fault. And I was fine (with the exception of a headache from it later; my peanut allergy actually gives me migraines) so it wasn't a big deal. I just took some aspirin and that was that. :)

Soooo... we all visited some more, and then around 8pm we decided it was time to start heading home. We packed up (I took some desserts home with me because I'm baaaad lol), and on the way out the door Uncle Alec and Aunt Brenda gave me a couple of Cat Cubes for my kitties to play in. THE CATS ARE IN LOVE WITH THEM LMAO.

Once we got back to Orillia, we went to Mom and Lee's place and unpacked what we had to, then packed up the rest of my things and Lee drove me home, where my cats were waiting to AMBUSH me because it was after their dinner time and they were STARVING TO DEATH.

So I fed them and put some things away... then decided screw it and just shoved everything into a corner so it was all out of the way and went to bed. I was exhausted, and besides that my head still hurt from the Peanut Encounter (tm). I slept really well, though 'Dion spent all night insisting on being cuddled up under my chin. He has separation issues. >>;

Then today I went downtown to pick up some more reptile bark (for Aya's new terrarium) and a bunch of river rocks for the aquarium. I also got a fish net and a larger hide for Aya since he's outgrown his old one.

After that I spent a couple hours cleaning the apartment and setting the aquarium up. I also called and talked to my brother for a few minutes, and we ended up deciding he was going to come over and hang out for the day. So he showed up a while later and we watched the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still and now we're watching 2012. And I made lasagna and garlic toast for dinner. Yay! :D

And that's about it.

Oh, except that the landlord for the apartment I'm moving to sent me the address today, so I looked it up on Google Earth. It's in a really nice neighbourhood, only two blocks from a grocery store, and only a couple blocks from the park/lake. X3 It's so awesome!!

I still need to go and actually look at the place, but what the hell, it can't be worse than where I am now, right? I'm 99% sure I'm going to take it. ♥

I do need to call Mom and coordinate with her a day we can go and look at it, though... hopefully in a couple days. Hmm.

EDIT: New Terrarium has been delivered, and Aya is all set up! ♥ His new home is much bigger and perfect for him, and will be for the rest of his hopefully long life. :)

And the pet store I got him from has already ordered my new Kenyan Sand Boa, which I will be picking up in February. Her name will be Nyoka (an African name meaning "snake"), and she will be moving into Aya's old terrarium. Since she won't get as big as Aya will, it'll be fine for her and I won't have to worry about upgrading~
senashenta: (DEAN APPROVES)

...and now Imma stop with the capslock flailing. XD;

But I'm so excited and happy! The only downside is that it's in Barrie and not Orillia, so I won't be close to Mom and Lee and my brother anymore. But still. How could I possibly turn it down?

Plus then I'll be a half-hour closer to my friends in the US of A. XD

Though I hate to move again. :P Packing and unpacking sucks. Bah.

A semi-decent update for those of you on my flist that are wondering how I'm doing aside from ZOMG eel creatures and OMG lampwork heart pendants.

Mom's surgery is coming up on the 25th, and it really kind of snuck up on me. The whole family is really stressed and worried right now, and Mom is making herself sick with being afraid that when they go in to do the hysterectomy they'll find something more than the tests have shown so far. I know we should all be trying to keep an optimistic outlook, but it's proving to be hard, especially since Grandpa just died of cancer three years ago. The whole thing is keeping me up at night a lot, and I won't feel any better about it until after the operation when the surgeon comes and tells us everything is fine.

I moved a couple weeks ago as well; to a little apartment downtown. It's not much (I'll post pictures once it's more organized), and pretty small, but it's mine, and I love that about it. Besides which, for one person (and cats/rabbits), it's a fine size. The only problem is that I have too much stuff. >>; It's been a nightmare trying to figure out how to fit everything in, and that's even after two vanloads of stuff having been taken to the goodwill.

When I first was moving in, the place was a mess. The kitchen still needs to have a really good cleaning with bleach, but other than that it's tidy enough I can put up with it until everything's unpacked and settled. The bathroom was DISGUSTING. I should have taken some photos to show you the before and after. Grandma actually came down on the day I moved, and rather than helping with the move itself, just locked herself up in the bathroom and scrubbed the shit out of it for HOURS. It's still terribly stained, but not actually dirty anymore. I don't think the previous tenants cleaned the bathroom once in the entire time they lived here. -__-;; Ugh.

Right as I'm typing this, the girly bunnies are in the kitchen having playtime. Unfortunately, until I got the kitchen organized enough that they couldn't get into things they shouldn't, they couldn't have time out to exercise-- it's been about three weeks since they were last out of their cage. I feel guilty, but there wasn't much I could do, since the kitchen is the only place here I can let them out at all. Now I can though, so we can get back into the regular routine of daily romps.

In November, I've got a table to sell things at the Christmas bazaar in Bracebridge. So I'm selling some jewelry there, as well as some jams and jellies. Grandma brought me six freaking baskets of crab apples when she came down, so I'll have TONS of crab apple jelly. (If anyone wants some, let me know and I'll set aside a jar of it for you.) It'll be the first time I've actually sold something I've cooked/baked so I'm really kind of nervous about it. Hopefully it'll go well.

Also, some time in the next couple days I'll be posting a massive sales post; due to space issues and the fact that I'm in desperate need of money, I've decided to sell off most of my extensive Sailormoon collection. I have a few really rare items, so fingers crossed. Also, if you know anyone who might like to commission a pony or something from me, please point them in my direction.

...because of everything that's been going on, I haven't been online much. Most of my time has been designated to doctor's visits and the move/unpacking. Honestly, I'm starting to get really weary of it, and I'm feeling... downtrodden. Just sad and gloomy. I miss being on AIM and talking to people, and blogging about nothing. But until the end of the month I just won't have the time.

EDIT: Maddie needs monies too, so go check out her etsy shop:

EDIT #2: I'm watching The Evil Dead II right now while I'm organizing things, and the girl's head just bit the guy on the hand, and he's flailing and screaming and smashing said severed head against walls and books and desks and whatnot, and I am LAUGHING MY ASS OFF. XDD;;;

It starts here, at about nine minutes in:

...and continues on here. xD;;

Moving is {mostly} finished! THIS PLACE IS A DISASTER. I HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF.

The landlord just stopped by and brought me samosas. :3
senashenta: (Durr...)
Was at my apartment today long enough to have the Internet guy come and install everything. Then tomorrow is the bulk of the move and all my furniture and everything is being moved, as well as my computer and the last of the boxes.

The cats are staying at Mom and Lee's place for one more night after that to give me time to organize a bit without them getting into everything. Plus, I'm hoping that if the new kitten is there for a day before them it'll help with Neko's territoriality issues. >>;

Speaking of, looks like I'm naming her Chasca. (SH-AH-S-KAH.) Amana came in a close second though. ♥

OMG so tired already. 8D;;
senashenta: (House: Oh Vicondin!)
Ahh~ two more days until I can pick up the keys for my apartment! That's not a lot of time! D8

Gah, I'm completely out of boxes and still have more to pack. But on Monday like I said, I'm picking up my keys, and then on Tuesday morning Mom is dropping me off before she goes to work. I am taking cleaning supplies just in case, and will spend at least until noon there because the Rogers guy is coming to install the Internet between 8am and 11am.

When I moved out to room with Sarah, I didn't get the 'Net installed for a few days after I moved because I didn't schedule it until after I'd moved in. I went NUTS without Internet access for that amount of time, so this time I made sure to schedule ahead of time. XD; IDK I WIN?

...whoa, the sleeping pills just hit me WHAM right this second. @_@;;

Moving is expensive. -_-; I'm more than broke; Sarah even gave me $100 (tldr; she got a bunch of money from ODSP because they were underpaying her, and wanted to share the wealth, so she gave $100 to everyone in the family) and I still have no cash. She gave it to me today when we picked her up for groceries, and I spent it all, and all but $10 on things related to moving/stocking up the kitchen/cleaning supplies/etc. I did buy myself a plant (twisty bamboo!) and one pack of beads.

But once I'm settled and have all the basics in the house it should settle down. *fingers crossed*

LMAO had a massive The X-Files marathon yesterday and last night. XD; Almost all of the fourth season. I skipped a couple eps that I found boring originally, but I watched most of them. ♥♥♥

EDIT: OH, and I got some stuff for packages for Steph and Mari today. Kraft Dinner comes in different flavours now. ._.;
senashenta: (ZOMG! Envy)
Hokay... entry after a freaking month. Life ate me up and spat me out and I'm still completely stressed out and messed up about a lot of things. Suddenly everything just exploded. I guess when it rains it pours, right? Anyway.

1) Otakon: I'm hoping to still do a more in-depth entry about Otakon, but for now here's the brief version; Air Canada sucks, the hotel we were in has the most gorgeous lobby ever (me and Pronnie did an epic photo shoot there~ ♥), meeting everyone I hadn't met before was AWESOME, and seeing Maddie, Chloe and Michelle again was as well because I MISSED THEM TERRIBLY. IN FACT, I MISS EVERYONE TERRIBLY AGAIN. ;A;

The first day we went to the aquarium, and I gave myself heatstroke. That night we did pre-reg. The next day was the first day of the con itself and I was so sick from the day before that I pretty much didn't do anything but lie around and feel miserable all day, until around 1am when Maddie finally forced me up and dragged me out for foodz. (A good thing, really. Thank you Maddie. ♥) Saturday I did BOYS!Riku cosplay and totally forgot to take pics in it. *facepalm* Sunday was Dealer's Room day and I spent way too fucking much money. YAY ANYWAY.

There was some drama/wank over the course of the weekend, but that's all I have to say on the topic.

Like I said, more detailed post to come, probably tomorrow or the next day. Also I'll post some of my fav photos from the trip then, but for now there are a few in my DevART if anyone is just dying to see them.

2) Dayton: After Otakon was a 12 hour bus ride to Dayton. -.-; At least the bus wasn't crowded, so we all got to stretch out and be (semi) comfy. I stabbed my own foot on the ice pick on my cane though. *facepalm* Slept on the couch at Maddie and Chloe's place every night except one (thank you guys! ILU!) and me and Steph stole their kitchen a couple times to bake and cook. :3 Chloe made us yummy salmon sammiches and okanomiyaki (um, I think that's how it's spelled? XD;;) that was FABULOUS too.

Went to the Dayton Celtic Festival while Steph and Mari were visiting Rei in Detroit, and also to the Dinosaurs Alive! exhibit in Cincinnati with Chloe's Mom, which was so much fun YOU HAVE NO IDEA. I GEEKED OUT SO HARD CORE OVER THE ANIMATRONICS. >w< When Steph and Mari came back we went to Jungle Jim's too, which was awesome. And one day we all went out and did cosplay at the mall (Chloe had to work though D:) where I cosplayed Elena from FFVII, and BOYS!Riku so I could take some pics.

More in-depth on all that in the next post too, I swear.

3) Mom: Okay, after finding out that Mom had cancer I obviously freaked out a lot. Not to mention stressed myself out to the point of having painful stomach cramps and acid reflux so bad I couldn't lay down every night the last three weeks. But Mom went for her MRI a couple weeks ago and when the results came back, it turned out the specialist was right and it's just beginning stage cervical cancer.

So basically, she's having surgery (a radical hysterectomy) and that should cover it. She shouldn't need chemo or radiation therapy or anything afterward. The operation is scheduled for the 15th of next month, and then she needs 6 weeks off to recuperate afterward.

Obviously, I'm still worried and stressed about it. It's a massive operation; they're removing all of her womb, her fallopian tubes and ovaries, some lymph nodes, all of her cervix and a portion of her vagina. I know it's done routinely and it's nothing to really be worrying too much over, but I can't help it. I won't feel any better until the 15th once the operation is over and she's awake and everything's okay.

4) My Surgery: Went for the mandatory class last week. It was three hours long, and seriously, I didn't learn anything I didn't already know. Oh well. I have two more appointments before I can have the operation at the beginning of the new year, one the first week of September, and then one in October at some point. The one in October was originally supposed to be on the 17th of September, but got pushed back because of Mom's surgery on the 15th; hers is WAY more important than mine.

5) Moving: ASDGH I HAVE AN APARTMENT!! X3!! SO EXCITED! It's downtown, and one bedroom (though I'm not using it the typical way) and it has a kitchen and a bathroom and dsnhaguidfh I don't have to share with anyone but my cats and rabbits! X3 GAH, but I only found out less than a week ago and I'm moving in the first week of September so I'm kind of scrambling to send in the paperwork to ODSP and get everything squared away and all my stuff packed. Still. ♥♥♥

Steph and Mari: Still working on packages for you guys, but they've had to be put off a little bit because of the move. Expect them in October some time, probably. ♥
senashenta: (Tet-chan :: DRAMA~! lol)
Good news: MOVING FINISHED. It took three days, but I am officially done with that place! HAH. Still unpacking, obviously. The cats are much more comfy here now, though Tri is still very jumpy. He'll settle in though. Also, today I actually had the dog and Neko in my lap at the same time, which is a miracle, as Possum is afraid of other animals. >>;

Good news 2: My brother sent me a link to episode one of Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. I am intrigued.

Good news 3: ;>.> <.<; I'm getting a rat again. Possibly tomorrow, but probably next week.

Neutral news: INTERNET TOMORROW. HOPEFULLY. I have to buy a card thing for my PC, and then my brother says if he can he'll install it for me. I'm actually going to be piggybacking on Mom's router. Anyway, if Trunks can't install it, I'll have to take it to the corner, in which case no 'Net until Monday at the earliest. So hopefully he can.

Bad News 2: Sinus infection. -__-;; As soon as it gets cold my immune system officially goes to florida or something. Not that it's super active normally anyway. But still. My head is throbbing, my sinuses hurt and I've used up a whole box of kleenex just today. ><; If it doesn't go away soon though, I have an appointment with the doctor in three weeks anyway.

And now I'm off to medicate myself to the eyeballs and try to actually get a decent night's sleep. Whoo.
senashenta: (Tooru Is UNIMPRESSED)
...I didn't sleep at all last night. ><; Or, I did, but only for like three hours.

When I put the cats in the basement for the night, they spent about two hours straight wailing for me so finally I decided I'd just sleep downstairs with them for the first night until they were settled in a bit more. But then all three of them wouldn't leave me alone to sleep, so finally around 3 I went upstairs and left the basement door open so they could join me and explore a bit while everyone else was asleep.

Unfortunately, moving from the basement upstairs woke me up completely, so then I spent another three hours working on unpacking and watching Vipers on the computer. Finally around 6 I managed to get to sleep, and then had to get up at 9:30 to go back to the house and do more moving. DX

It was just me and Mom today so we didn't get it all done, but we got quite a bit finished, and can probably finish the rest tomorrow night. We also emptied out the fridge of all my perishables and brought them over here. Tomorrow there are some cupboards to move, a bar fridge, the microwave and stand, and some carpets. Then I have to sweep and mop and gather my cleaning stuff to bring back here, and we'll be done.

Anyway, after two trips to storage today, we came back and puttered around for an hour until it was time to pick up Sarah for groceries. lol, there's not much we needed to pick up because all my food came over here with me, but there were things like milk and pepsi (and coke for me, since I don't drink pepsi :P), and Halloween candy. Plus I needed to get a new lamp, zip ties, an extension cord and some sinus decongestants. Bah.

Aaaaand today the cats seem much more comfortable, especially in the basement. They haven't cried all day, and earlier I was downstairs with Mom and Lee and there was a cat in each lap, perfectly happy. I'm glad, I was really worried how they would be for the first bit here.

Still not Internet on my own PC. Using Mom's for email and aim a bit, and using mine for music and movies. Getting a wireless router on Friday. CAN'T WAIT FOR IT OMG. >.<; Now I also have to hook up the TV and everything still, but other than that I'm good electronics-wise. I still have a lot of books and my anime to put away, but I think most of my movies are out, and all my manga is. I also have to organise and pack all my craft supplies away, but I can't really do that until everything else is done. :P

Now I'm attempting to chat with Kiin, whilst my brother sits three feet away playing D&D with his friends. UGH I WANT INTERNET ON MY OWN PC NOW DAMMIT.
