So today I took Aya into the bathroom and gave him a nice soak in some warm water. He really, really enjoys his baths. I just warm the water for him and run about two inches into the bottom of the tub and he crawls into the deepest part and lays there doing the snake equivalent of the =w= face. ♥

As for the other critters... well, Nyoka ended up dying from her injuries. ;__; I feel really, really bad over it. I only had her for a week and a half, and she was just a baby! ...and I still can't even figure out how she was escaping. ~_~;; I guess... it's a good thing I didn't have her for long. I didn't have time to get really attached to her. I don't think I could have handled it otherwise, considering how I'm still (not) dealing with losing Tri.

Anyway, I'm going to get another sand boa and try again. This time I think I'm going to go through a breeder, and I've been discussing this with a particular breeder that seems promising. I'm tentatively looking at getting a reduced pattern male. He's really pretty. :) I'm going to call him Ringo, maybe. I kind of want another one to name Momo as well, and it seems pretty doable since they live well in groups and don't need a ton of space. I guess we'll see.

The piranha are doing well too, and I still have tiger barbs and cherry barbs in with them successfully, as well as the cat fish and plecos. Which, by the way, I finally named my cleaner fish; the cory cats are Swiffer and Dyson, and the plecos are Bissell and Hoover. XD

I actually gave the fish one of Nyoka's pinky rats yesterday, and it's been fascinating to watch them pick away at it. Normally they just get chunks of beef or turkey, but with this little rat the more they eat the more of it's skeleton is exposed. I know that sounds really morbid, but it's super interesting to me. ^^;

Oh, and speaking of Tri back there...

I saw him the other day. I went downstairs to feed the cats, and while I was getting the food out and the dishes ready I saw him come down the stairs from the corner of my eye. I did a double take, and he was still there. The other cats even seemed to acknowledge him (though they were way more interested in FOODNOWMOMMY! than him.) So I kind of bit back tears a little and smiled at him, and went back to what I was doing. Once I was done I looked back and he was gone.

It was kind of a happy-sad moment. At least I know he's okay and still thinking of me. He always used to be really empathic, and always kept me company when I was upset. I think he's probably worried about me because I've been so sad lately... so he's checking up on me.

Mom says she's surprised that he found me so quickly, since I moved away so soon after he died. But then again, he's been here in the past, so it wouldn't take very much searching for him to get back to me. (I know it'll take Cali a while before I see her again though, because she's never been here before.)

Anyway, it was good to see him. I would love if he stuck around, but that's kind of a selfish wish, right? It'd be better if he moved on. But if he wants to stay here, he's more than welcome of course. :)

And on the topic of cats!

I talked to the vet a few days back about getting Tia spayed again, and was basically told that they would have to do an exploratory surgery and that they would not do it for free, so it was going to cost me an arm and a leg, but was, of course, necessary. So I had to figure out a way to get the money. I was resigned to that fact, but had no idea how in the hell I was going to pull it off.

But then today, I got another call from them, and was told that the vets had talked it over and they had decided that they would cover the cost after all. FUCK YEAH. AND, since she'll be done at the SPCA clinic in Barrie, they also were able to fit her in on the same day as 'Dion is going in to be neutered, so not only do I NOT have to pay for it, but I don't have to make a separate trip out of town for it either.

THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY YOU HAVE NO IDEA. \o/

Fingers crossed that they can find the bit that got missed, though. If they can't then there's nothing else that can be done and I'll just have to deal with her going into heat every few weeks... for the rest of her life. ~_~;; UGH, please let that not happen! Please let everything work out!

...oh, and Jessie scratched me up today. >>; She's a wuss and easily scared, and when I had Aya out earlier she freaked herself out over him so badly that she bailed from the bedroom and REFUSED to come back in for the rest of the day. So it took a lot to convince her to come in when it was time to put her away for the night. I managed it because she gets fed when she's put to bed, so I put the food out for her and she kind of tentatively inched her way in and over to the dish to eat.

But. When she scared herself I had Aya on the bed, and she seems to still think that he's there. .__.; I picked her up and sat down on the bed to show her that everything was okay, and she got so scared she panicked and flailed and ended up scratching me up with her back claws. *facepalm*

And she still won't come near the bed. >__>;;
senashenta: (...Would Like To Lick You)
For those of you who haven't been keeping up with the latest installment of Nyoka: The Snake Who Is Also A Magician And Apparently Sometimes Also Invisible on FB or Twitter, here's the basics: I finally finally managed to bring Nyoka home (ie: had her dropped off here) on Saturday the 5th.

All of four days later, she managed to escape her terrarium. I generally went ASDGH;KL!! over it, but managed to find her by about 20 minutes after realizing she was missing; she was curled up by the motor behind my bar-fridge (because of the heat, obviously.)

K, so she's safe and sound and I assumed I had accidentally looked away long enough for her to get out before I closed the terrarium up or something like that. My fault, of course. No biggie, Nyoka was home and all was well.

Then two days ago, SHE WENT MISSING AGAIN.

And I was like ASDGH;KL!! because WTF this time I know I didn't let her out by accident, unless I did it whilst sleepwalking or something. >__O;; So apparently, my new snake is a fucking magician who specializes in escape artistry, and even now I CAN NOT FIGURE OUT HOW SHE'S DOING IT. :|

So I pulled the fridge out again, assuming I would find her in the same spot. But no, she wasn't there. So I searched my room and the hall quickly, but still no snake. So then I spent the entire night moving furniture to look for her AND COULDN'T FIND HER. SHE WAS APPARENTLY INVISIBLE.

Now, it's important to understand why she would be so hard to locate; Nyoka is tiny. I mean, in total she is maybe six inches long and about as big around as a pencil. She can curl up into a ball the size of a quarter. So it's entirely possible I just didn't see her when I was searching.

By the morning I was exhausted, sore, and starting to worry that maybe the dog or one of the cats had gotten hold of her and scarfed her down as a midnight snack. =/ But I continued looking and keeping an eye out in the hopes of finding her in one piece and, hopefully, still alive.

Last night I finally rigged up a trap for her, which consisted of strapping her heating pad to an empty bottle, then placing a pinky mouse (tasty!) inside said bottle and setting the whole thing on the ground on it's side. The plan was to leave it in my room for a day or two, then move it around the house if need be until she got cold/hungry enough and went for it.

So that's out and ready, and about five hours later I took my laundry downstairs, started the wash up... and then found Nyoka, curled up in a little coil, in the middle of the carpet. IN THE BASEMENT.

HOW DID SHE GET ALL THE WAY DOWN THERE I DON'T EVEN AUGH. DX

The nearest we can figure, she either crawled down one of the heating ducts upstairs and made her way through said ducts until she ended up in the basement, or she was hiding out in my laundry and when I dumped it out onto the ground to sort it before washing it she came out.

Now, upon initial inspection, two things were noted: first, at least one cat had had a go at her. She has three miniscule puncture wounds from what I assume are teeth. But they are extremely minor and not anything to worry about. And second, I wasn't sure if she was barely alive, or freshly dead. =/

So I took her upstairs and set her up in a little terrarium with water, food, and her heating pad and just kind of waited to see if she would start moving or not. And sure enough, she got warm and started moving, then slowly perked up more and more over the course of a couple hours.

That settled, I took her back out to have a closer look at her wounds... and discovered that she has a clearly broken back, about 1/4 of the way up from the tip of her tail. ;A;

Now, I know that there's not much a vet can do about this. So I checked online, and the general consensus is "if it's a smaller snake, try to make a splint", so I made a makeshift one out of medical tape just to help keep the break stable.

Other than her tail flopping a bit, she's not even acting like she's injured, so I think she's going to be alright. She's even gone right back to burrowing, splint and all, and tentatively looking around for escape routes from the temporary terrarium. I should have named her Houdini.

But, I think I won't entirely breathe a sigh of relief until I can get her to eat something. I am soooo glad that I found her, though. I was really upset when she went missing for the second time in less than two weeks. :(

Who knew sand boas were such a handful? ~.~;;
senashenta: (SPAZ)
FUCK, NYOKA GOT OUT OF HER TERRARIUM AND I HAD TO SEARCH ALL OVER THE FUCKING PLACE FOR HER. I FOUND HER BEHIND THE MINI FRIDGE IN MY ROOM, BUT SHE GOT HURT WHEN I WAS PULLING IT OUT TO LOOK FOR HER AND NOW ASDGH;KL IDK PLEASE DON'T DIE NYOKA!!! ;A;!!!

EDIT: Well... she seems to be relatively okay. But she has a pretty serious looking scrape by her jaw that I'm going to have to keep a really close eye on. I did a quick look online and vets seem to recommend peroxide and antibiotic ointment for that type of injury, and veterinary treatment if it gets worse/infected, so... =/
senashenta: (Zodiac Cat and Rat)
Well, I have Nyoka home now, safe and sound! Haha, she's so tiiiiiiny! Like Lee said, "[he's] seen worms bigger than [her]!" She's maybe six inches long and as big around as a pencil. ^__^ But then, two months back when J&K got her in for me she was only a day or two old. She's adorable and has such pretty markings! I took some pics, so I'll post them maybe tomorrow or the next day. ♥

So the guy from J&K dropped Nyoka off on Saturday around noon. Then on Sunday, I bummed a ride from Lee and went out to Critter Cove, which is an awesome fish/pond store out the other side of town. It's way beyond walking distance (especially in the winter), and while I'm sure there are busses that run out there, I seriously have no idea which ones. =/

Anyway, I originally just went out there for a couple of catfish for the tank since my six little ghost shrimp weren't enough to keep the bottom sparkly clean. Basically, I'm finding that to keep the piranha from picking on the other fish I need to feed them at least twice a day (sometimes three times), which means quite a bit more mess that needs picked up at the bottom, and the shrimpies were having trouble keeping up. *shrug* No big deal, I just added two cory cats to pick up the excess, and since I added them the water quality has gone up tons, and the whole tank is functioning a lot better, so it's all worked out. :)

But while I was there I got a few more little fish to add more colour, activity and visual interest to the tank. So along with the two catfish, I got two tiger barbs and four cherry barbs; both small, fast fish. Tiger barbs are orange/red with vertical black stripes, and cherry barbs are orange/red with darker horizontal red stripes. Very pretty. The cherries school with my remaining cardinal tetras, and the tigers... well, they take after their name. They're quite brave and aggressive, especially when it comes to food. They even bully the piranha sometimes, which is kind of funny to see because the piranha are obviously like "WHAT IS THIS FUCKERY? >/" but they also always end up running away because the tigers won't back down. XD;;

It's been quite interesting keeping fish again, especially with the piranha. I'm experimenting with different fruit and veggies with them, and while they don't seem all that happy with the potato I've got in the tank right now, they really liked the orange I gave them a couple of days ago. Mostly though, they've been doing great with the tropical fish flakes and bits of meat/veggies to supplement. They were particularly excited about the chicken neck I gave them yesterday afternoon.

Basically, they get bits of whatever meat we happen to be having for dinner lol. ♥

.....

And now because I've just rambled about animals and pretty much nothing else for the last few entries, a brief update on how other things are going:

I'm settling in alright. Still have a few boxes to unpack, but I'm 90% there. On Friday Mom and I have to take a truck load of stuff to the storage unit because I've found a bunch of things that I don't have to have here, and really, my room is pretty crowded as it is.

Tonight I finally got out a hammer and put up the two wallscrolls that I brought with me (my KH one and my FFVII: AC one-- I sadly had to put all the rest of them in storage ;A;) and the two bulletin boards (again, the third one had to go into storage), so it feels more like home here again. Blank walls just don't do it for me.

Unfortunately in the process of packing and moving, the frames for two of my LoZ prints got broken. ~_~;; I had planned to put them up too, but for now they're all piggybacking in Midna's frame so that they don't get wrinkled or ripped. Eventually I'll get new frames for Link and Zelda and then I'll put them up.

I also have one other print that I got at Matsuricon that I want to put up, which I still need to get a frame for. And my artsy cat photos are going up at some point too. But for now at least I've got some colour on the walls.

Aaaaand right now I'm watching a TV box set of ESPU episodes. Yay for animal shows, even if this one makes me angry because it's about poaching. (STUPID POACHERS.) =/ Or, at least, it's about the anti-poaching unit in Africa and their work.

Oh, and I had a little extra money this month and was sad and depressed and everything sucks right now so I cheered myself up by adding to my figure family; I got formation arts Riku, and formation arts Final Form Sora. YAY! 8D

Speaking of... am hoping to get back into rping some more soon. I don't think I'm necessarily up to joining an actual LJ RP yet, but I'd love to do some one-on-one rp with people. Will probably bug Maddie and Chloe for Kyo and Roxas Shinra!RP. *nodnod* And maybe Steph will do some rping with me with Tetsuya or Iniko or Tokiya. >.>

EDIT: And I keep dreaming about Tri. Once I dreamt that someone brought him back from the brink of death with magic and he was back with me again. Then another time I dreamt that I was going to school (my old elementary school, go figure) and he and Loki and Neko all followed me to school, so I was trying to find them around the building. I found Tri first and just held onto him so tightly and wouldn't let him go even when the teachers said I had to put him down for class. That type of thing. I guess I'll have dreams like that for a long time, probably...

EDIT #2: Hmm, just looked up how to (externally) sex ball pythons and sand boas out of curiosity. Then I checked Aya, and am 90% sure he's definitely a male. I think Nyoka's a male too, actually, but s/he's still way too little to tell for sure and I'm certainly not an expert at these things. I don't really care all that much either way, it's not as if I plan to breed them or anything. I mean, if I really wanted to know that badly the people at J&K said they would probe them for me when they were big enough. *shrug*

Also? Have been looking at African Soft Furred Rats because ASDGH LOOK AT THE CUTE!! X3!! I want some of these, and there's even a breeder a couple hours from here where I could get them for $10/female $5/male. But I don't think I could convince Mom to drive me that far just to pick up some rats. XD;;

EDIT #3: I am so totally not looking into Hog Island Boas now. Or Blood Pythons. Or Carpet Pythons. Nope not at all. I think I'm officially addicted to snakes. >>; I'm looking for smaller snakes still. Hog Island Boas and Blood Pythons seem promising, but I'm iffy on Carpet Pythons. They're gorgeous, but even the smaller breeds (like the Irian Jaya, which average 4-6 feet) have the potential to reach up to 13 feet long. =/ (They are arboreal though, which would be very cool.)

Anyhoo~
senashenta: (I'm Only Acting Strong)
So I special ordered my sand boa, Nyoka, like three months ago, and about two months ago J&K got her in. But due to circumstances at the time I couldn't pick her up. And couldn't pick her up. AND COULDN'T PICK HER UP. She's been available for two months and I still haven't seen her! ;A;

Anyway, the girl who works there was kind enough to keep Nyoka at her house and take care of her there until I could afford to pay for her and bring her home. Then TODAY was FINALLY THE DAY! I called back on Monday and said I would be picking her up on Friday, and today Mom drove me down... and when I got there the poor girl gave me a stricken look because she totally forgot to bring her in. xD;;

So she's going to actually deliver her here tomorrow for me. I did pay for her though, and bought more sand for her terrarium, as well as a little fake cactus and rats for both her and Aya. Nyoka actually cost $110 LESS than they had quoted me to begin with. FUCK YEAH. EPIC FISTPUMP [HERE].

I'm all excited for tomorrow though, because I finally get my new snake. :3

Also, I just did a water change in my aquarium and adjusted the plants some. I was up to my shoulder in the tank and the piranha completely ignored me. ♥ Then again, they ignore the tetras, plecos and shrimp too. They're eating the fish flakes happily, and today I gave them a little tiny ball of hamburger that I saved before we started cooking the rest for tacos for dinner.

The tetras nibbled on the hamburger too. .__.;
senashenta: (Dean: Cannot Believe This Shit)
I went downtown today to drop the check the landlord gave me last night into the bank and pull some cash out. IT IS FREAKING COLD. ;A; PLZ TO BE GOING AWAY NAO, WINTERZ. DX

Anyhoo, after that I stopped at J&K Pets and picked up all the necessary supplies for Nyoka (sand substrate, heater, water dish) so I'll be prepared in a couple of weeks when I'm done moving and can finally pick her up and bring her home. :3 I do still want to get a plant for her terrarium, a fake cactus or something to go with the desert habitat. (I also want to get another climbing plant for Aya, too.) ♥

I picked up the new lid for Aya's old terrarium (soon to be Nyoka's) while I was at it. It got all warped and ripped and bent and stuff because the cats insisted on sleeping on top of it, so before I could use it again I needed to replace it. :P

Once I got all that stuff home (the sand and water dish were HEAVY, DANGIT! Thank God I brought my backpack to carry it all home. >>;) and dropped it off, I wandered down to the Dollarama. I got a couple new bead boxes (I have like 30 of them now, omg so many beads!) and a three-drawer organizer for my beading tools. Also a kitchen knife sharpener. AND A BUDDAH STATUE! YAYZ! X3

After that I popped into Blockbuster, where their "Coming Soon To DVD" board made me squee because MEGASHARK VS CROCOSAURUS ASDGH;KL!! XDD!!

Then I bought a few cheap movies since they were having another big sale. I got Kick-Ass (which I normally wouldn't have bothered with, but Dad has been telling me for two weeks how good it is; turn out he's right. XD;;), Frozen and Clash of the Titans. I want Piranha 3D, but they don't have it previously viewed yet, so Imma wait on that one for a few more days at least. Maybe I'll get it in Barrie on Friday.

And then, because things aren't sucky enough lately, I got home just in time for the cold water pipes under my floor to burst. And when I say "burst" I actually mean "FUCKING HELL THE APARTMENT DOWNSTAIRS HAS WATERFALLS FOR WALLS". May I also take this opportunity to add "LOL" to the end of that. Because my fucktarded neighbours who always get away with stupid and/or illegal shit are currently up to their knees in water, while my apartment is still bone dry. ♥

Right, so they ended up having to go to the utility room around the front of the house and turn the water off, which I don't blame them for. Then they called the landlord, who didn't answer (because he never does) and took seven hours to get back to us about it. He's sending a plumber first thing in the morning, so we only have to go overnight without water.

It's still a pain. =/

And around 5-ish Mom stopped by on her way home from work. Originally she was just supposed to sit and have a coffee and chat with me, but because of the way things ended up, we went out to Walmart instead so I could get a case of bottled water so I could, yanno, fill the cat dishes and stuff for the next day or so. *eyeroll*

Then I poked through the discount movies. I got a set of yoga/pilates DVDs that will hopefully help me get started with strengthening my joints a little. I also got season one of The Hunger, a 4-movie DVD set of Jim Carrey movies, and a 3-movie DVD set of A Haunting (Winchester House, Connecticut & Georgia.) Fun times.

And of course because the idiots downstairs can't be bothered paying for their phone line, the landlord had to call my phone and get me to take it to them and back and forth like that about five times. Now I'm cold and tired and annoyed. Pfft.
senashenta: (Nekkie Christmas Twins)
I hope everyone out there had a great Christmas! ^_^

My Christmas was good, I'm happy to say. All of December had been really stressful and depressing and I've been having a lot of trouble, so I wasn't really looking forward to Christmas because the 24/25/26th are always the most busy days for our family. But I was actually able to relax and enjoy things, which was nice.

On the 24th I did very little, just hung out around the house and cleaned, played with the cats and finished last-minute gift stuff.

That day a package from Maddie and Chloe came in the mail, which made me really happy. ♥ It had Cheesy Enchilada Hamburger Helper (♥!!), some lotion that I wanted for Lois and my Christmas gift in it; some pretty beads, and a bracelet with matching earrings that Maddie made-- they are gorgeous, and I LOVE them, and they even matched my Christmas outfit perfectly, so I wore them to the family get together on the 26th, where I got lots of compliments on them. :3

The next morning Mom picked me up around 11 and took me and all my gifts for everyone over to her place, and we finished up the last bits of cooking/baking for the family gathering. Then Grandma got there around 1pm, and we all exchanged gifts.

I gave Grandma her souvenirs from my trip to the US in the summer (finally lol) and her Christmas present was a glass vase with decorative butterflies and a candle. I got Lee a wall clock shaped like a guitar (a Gibson, which is the one he uses most out of his actual guitars), and some blank VHS tapes because the ones he's using right now are old and wearing out. Then I got Mom a decorative 3D wolf plate, two scented oil infusers, and copies of The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons on DVD. I also got two gifts that were for both of them; a wall sign ("Pomeranian Crossing" haha) and a bag of goodies (chocolates, cookies, etc.). And I got my brother three couch pillows (I got them at Matsuricon from the wonderful and insanely talented NeonDragon) and a copy of Gwenhwyfar by Mercedes Lackey. ♥

As for me, I got a whole set of new bakeware (two cookie sheets, two round cake tins, a loaf pan, a rectangular cake pan, a muffin pan and a pizza pan!!), an electric mixer (eee!! ♥♥), a DVD copy of Independence Day (to replace my worn-out VHS one), a zombie movie DVD set (Last of the Living; Grave Mistakes; Awaken The Dead and I Am Omega; my brother tells me I'm supposed to tell you all "HEAD NOMMING GOODNESS!"), money from Grandma, and a notebook that is my favourite thing I got this year. It's completely handmade including the paper, and free-trade. It's cover is etched leather with intricate designs and a pentagram on the front. X3!! It's going to be my recipe book, but Imma call it my spell/potion book lol.

And my brother got me the first season of Xena: Warrior Princess, but I already had it, so it's got to be exchanged for something else. Ah well~

Then we had dinner and everyone else played cards for a while. I, meanwhile, dyed my hair back to my natural colour so it would look nice for the family gathering, and also because I was sick of having the huge dark stripe down the middle of my head lol. XD

I went to bed pretty early that night because I had to get up early-ish the next morning to make the dip for the get-together (it took an hour in the slow cooker.) Then we all got dressed and ready and packed everything up, and headed out around 11am.

Now, a couple days earlier I had been surfing Kijiji, looking for a new terrarium for Aya because he's starting to outgrow his current one. I found one for $45 (as compared to $250 for a brand-new one), but it was in Barrie. But we were driving right through Barrie to get to my Uncle and Aunt's place for Christmas, so I asked if we could just stop to pick it up on the way past.

So I got it and brought it home last night after everything... and then kind of thought about it and it's kind of tall and thin, which is much better for an aquarium for fish than a snake terrarium. So I decided to set it up as an aquarium (I miss having fishies anyway) and found another terrarium that's more suitable for Aya's needs. It's being delivered tonight. :)

Anyway!

We got to the get-together around 1-ish and set up all the snacks and appetizers and everything, and then sat around and visited and just generally caught up with everyone until it was dinner time.

THEN THERE WAS TURKEY. ASDGH YUMMY!! X3 ♥♥♥

lol and after dinner we set out the desserts (there was a TON of delicious stuff!) and started the gift exchange (we all bring an anonymous gift, then we draw numbers and each of us can either open a new gift or steal someone else's.) There was a lot of good stuff this year; a couple nice blankets, a box of chocolates, a tea set, a set of glass bakeware and etc. I ended up with the glass bakeware (which I do kind of need for doing casseroles and that kind of thing, but Lee had ended up with a set of china popcorn bowls that he would never use (and neither would Mom or my bro) so I traded them. The bowls are actually good sizes; the big one can be used as a mixing bowl, and the smaller ones for a variety of things. Plus I can always borrow the glassware if I need to. XD;;

It was fun and very enjoyable. The only semi-bad part was that I had a run-in with a peanut butter cookie. =/

Aunt Clare had brought a tray of desserts, and most of them she had made but she included a few that a friend of hers had made too, and some of them turned out to have peanut butter in them. It was my fault too, because I'm so used to not having to worry about peanuts at family functions (because they all know about my allergy), I wasn't as careful as I normally am. But as soon as I bit into it I knew there was peanut butter in it, and spat it out without actually swallowing. Then I rinsed my mouth out. A LOT.

Poor Clare felt so bad about it, but it wasn't her fault. And I was fine (with the exception of a headache from it later; my peanut allergy actually gives me migraines) so it wasn't a big deal. I just took some aspirin and that was that. :)

Soooo... we all visited some more, and then around 8pm we decided it was time to start heading home. We packed up (I took some desserts home with me because I'm baaaad lol), and on the way out the door Uncle Alec and Aunt Brenda gave me a couple of Cat Cubes for my kitties to play in. THE CATS ARE IN LOVE WITH THEM LMAO.

Once we got back to Orillia, we went to Mom and Lee's place and unpacked what we had to, then packed up the rest of my things and Lee drove me home, where my cats were waiting to AMBUSH me because it was after their dinner time and they were STARVING TO DEATH.

So I fed them and put some things away... then decided screw it and just shoved everything into a corner so it was all out of the way and went to bed. I was exhausted, and besides that my head still hurt from the Peanut Encounter (tm). I slept really well, though 'Dion spent all night insisting on being cuddled up under my chin. He has separation issues. >>;

Then today I went downtown to pick up some more reptile bark (for Aya's new terrarium) and a bunch of river rocks for the aquarium. I also got a fish net and a larger hide for Aya since he's outgrown his old one.

After that I spent a couple hours cleaning the apartment and setting the aquarium up. I also called and talked to my brother for a few minutes, and we ended up deciding he was going to come over and hang out for the day. So he showed up a while later and we watched the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still and now we're watching 2012. And I made lasagna and garlic toast for dinner. Yay! :D

And that's about it.

Oh, except that the landlord for the apartment I'm moving to sent me the address today, so I looked it up on Google Earth. It's in a really nice neighbourhood, only two blocks from a grocery store, and only a couple blocks from the park/lake. X3 It's so awesome!!

I still need to go and actually look at the place, but what the hell, it can't be worse than where I am now, right? I'm 99% sure I'm going to take it. ♥

I do need to call Mom and coordinate with her a day we can go and look at it, though... hopefully in a couple days. Hmm.

EDIT: New Terrarium has been delivered, and Aya is all set up! ♥ His new home is much bigger and perfect for him, and will be for the rest of his hopefully long life. :)

And the pet store I got him from has already ordered my new Kenyan Sand Boa, which I will be picking up in February. Her name will be Nyoka (an African name meaning "snake"), and she will be moving into Aya's old terrarium. Since she won't get as big as Aya will, it'll be fine for her and I won't have to worry about upgrading~
