I've become one of those people who wears a cardigan almost all the time (I only have two of them) and I don't know how I feel about it. It makes me feel old. Also the cardigans don't go with my graphic tees like AT ALL, it just in general looks ridiculous and that won't do. But it's winter and the window in my bedroom is drafty, and the axolotl tank radiates cold as well, so it's always chilly in here.

And I'm STILL acclimatized to the downtown loft apartment that was always a thousand degrees all year 'round, even after all these years, so I don't feel the heat almost at all but I feel the cold really easily. It was worse at Grandma's because she kept her house at 68 in the winter and I was in the FREEZING basement, but... yeah. Even here. Cardigans.

This morning I took my second increased dose of my ADHD meds and they're helping already, my headache is gone again and the static in my brain is going away. The cats scratching on the inside of my skull are mostly gone. All positive signs. I also took my second birth control pill today, but logically I know I won't see any results from them for at least a month or two.

Yesterday when we were out shopping I bought vanilla ice cream and orange soda to make myself a creamsicle float. Ideally, strawberry ice cream would have been better, but apparently you can't buy that in stores around here anymore?? Like strawberry is my second favorite ice cream (after mint chip) wtf is happening?? Anyway, this afternoon I made myself a small creamsicle float and it was good, but definitely would have been better with strawberry ice cream. I haven't had a float in forever, though, so it was kind of nice.

I've been taking a bit of a break from Fringe today and I've been exploring Prime Video some instead, since it comes with my Prime membership. I've found a couple of good movies today. One of them was a decent Spanish zombie movie that I might try to pick up on DVD for my collection.

The other day I edited Wayward Daughters and printed it out because I thought I was done with it, but I hadn't gotten around to putting it in the Storm Season et al binder yet. Then this morning I started flipping through it and found A MILLION FUCKING EDITING ERRORS I YET AGAIN MISSED so I started the process of editing once more. I have it mostly done on paper, but I still have to edit the actual file on the computer again.

With my ADHD meds working themselves out, I think I'm going to try to do some actual writing tomorrow, after my third increased dose. Fingers crossed on that one. :x

That is, of course, assuming I SLEEP tonight. I didn't sleep the night before last because of everything with Grandma, like I said before, but then LAST night I only slept for like four hours because I kept tossing and turning all night so I'm really, really tired right now. I'm considering taking some extra Dayvigo tonight, but I only JUST upped myself to a full tablet so I don't know if it's a good idea to up it again so soon...

I don't know. I guess we'll see.

Bad Temu :|

Jan. 8th, 2025 08:35 am
senashenta: (Cold Hard (Canadian) Cash)
I have spent approximately $150 on stuff on Temu since I discovered it yesterday, and admittedly most of that was on gifts for other people for Christmas next year, but that is ridiculous and I need someone to take Temu away from me. :| I have made a resolution not to buy anything else from there until the fall when I'm doing more Christmas shopping because it is GREAT for Christmas shopping HOLY SHIT is it great for Christmas shopping. :|

The bonus is that I have everything bought for my younger brother and my Dad, some things for Lee and Mom, and a few knickknacks (planters, mostly) for me so I have a really good start on Christmas for 2025 and that will be very helpful come the fall. I'll go back to Temu and see what else I can dig up then. This is the plan, anyway. My plans have a habit of going pear-shaped on a regular basis. =/

Anyway.

Yesterday my new printer came in since my old one died last week. It wouldn't even TURN ON so like... yeah. And also the USB sticks I ordered came in, so I spent most of last night and then this morning from like 2am when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep transferring movies and TV series onto sticks to get them off my HD. I had like thirty TV series and a hundred movies on my computer, so Riptide is much happier now and running much better as well. I still want to download iZombie but like I have spent so long transferring files omg.

Yesterday Mom took me back out to Michaels to get more paint because last week when we went I got the paint I thought I needed but when I got it home it was THE SHITTIEST PAINT IN THE HISTORY OF SHITTY PAINTS. But it's my own fault for going with the cheapest brand they had. So yesterday I bought more expensive ones, as well as some seed beads and a plushie for Amy and Brit for Christmas next year (I used the gift cards I got for Christmas.) And the paint is FANTASTIC I did some painting with them tonight while I couldn't sleep and it was great. <3

The day before yesterday I literally googled "good zombie shows" because I wanted to see if there were any I hadn't seen before, and there were quite a few! So I downloaded the first season of Freakish and both seasons of Helix. I watched Freakish last night and really enjoyed it, but I can't get the second season to download. I might just buy it on DVD if I can find both seasons relatively cheaply. I've only watched one episode of Helix so far, but it's good. I'm looking forward to more. :D

Right now I'm watching Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey 2 because I have NO TASTE in movies, but like, the second one was WAY better than the first one, at least? And there's a third one coming out in 2025 so I'm looking forward to that. ALSO BAMBI: THE RECKONING IS GOING TO BE SO TERRIGOOD I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT ONE.

Unfortunately my brain is back to being a bunch of bouncy balls right now because my ADHD meds need to be adjusted so I haven't done any real writing in a month. I WANT to, I just can't focus on it. I just find myself watching TV/movies instead because that's easier for my ADHD brain to deal with. I have an appointment with my Doc on the 30th, though, so I just have to survive until then, and I can get my dosage upped. Apparently I'm on the lowest possibly dose right now, so. Yeah.

But even though I'm not being PRODUCTIVE, WRITING-WISE, my brain is still kicking out the occasional idea, like Cessation. The newest one is called New Dawn and is about a pair of sisters (Tilde & Eloise) who time travel to try to save the lives of their parents and youngest sister (Adelaide), all with the help of a magical cat. It's one of those "changing the past has consequences in the future" situations. The actual plotline is going to take a lot of creative thought that I'm not up to at the moment, though. *fingers crossed for more ADHD meds*

Today I'm hoping to get at least a couple hours sleep and then bake some cookies. Lemon cream cheese with pecans, and maybe shortbread, too. And last night Mom somehow made the BEST SPAGHETTI IN THE WORLD, it was SO GOOD, but then I've been craving spaghetti, so that probably helped. I kind of want more right now, actually. .__.;;

P.S. My copy of the Countdown DVD came in the mail yesterday, too, so I don't have to call and yell at Amazon after all! :D

EDIT: Just booked Juna and Pluto's vet appointments for this year! Gettin' on top of things! Gettin' things done!

Well I thoroughly scared the shit out of Em and Rosie but I got their cage all nice and sparkly clean, and even gave them a treat stick to make up for the trauma. They've settled down again. Tonight I have to fill up all the seed dishes and they'll freak out again (so will Winter and Shield) but for now I'm giving them a reprieve.

I haven't gotten my candle made yet but I did work on my Nonbinary Cabbage Dog a little, even though my hands are still shaking like I'm on speed. Using a detail brush makes it easier. It takes longer to do the PAINTING but at least the mistakes are much smaller when I make them and easier to fix. I'm trying to get it finished so I can include it in the parcel I'm sending to Poe at the end of the month. I started it for them and it was meant for them, so I really want them to have it. They can sell it if they don't want it, or even throw it out, I guess, as the case may be. I'm going to include that point in the letter I send along with the parcel.

I'm planning to do other LGBTQA+ cabbage dogs in the future, too. I currently have two base cabbage dogs to work with. I want to do a rainbow one next, or maybe a pansexual one? I haven't decided. I need to order more of them so I can do more of the spectrum but FREAKING aliexpress won't let me login to my normal account right now so I have to try to find them all over again from scratch. Blegh.

Mom just came in to tell me that she and Lee are driving to Barrie to pick Grandma up, not because she did a jailbreak from the retirement home but because apparently her blood pressure has been SUPER HIGH all day so they took her to RVH, and now she's stuck there. Mom and Lee have to go pick her up and take her back home, then drive all the way back to Orillia again.

They said they'd buy me a burger on the way home, so I'm happy at least. My jaw doesn't hurt as much today and I miss REAL FOOD, DAMMIT. Also Whoppers from BK are my favorite. I'm a trash person, what. :|

EDIT: Also, still working on the Rainbow Dash wiggly fox. Foxes that need the rainbow tails are a pain and always take forever. I'm hoping it's ears will be easier? My plan for them SHOULD be easier, just very finely detailed. Then it's just the white on the inner ears and underside and pooooooossibly the feet? I haven't decided on that one yet. I guess we'll see.

Squall has been acting up the last couple of days. Not sure what's wrong, I've run diagnostics/antivirus/disc cleanup/defragmenter and everything is telling me there's no problem, but he's running slowly and earlier today I tried to turn him on and he wouldn't load the first time 'round. Might have to send him in to be checked out. =/

Other than that things today went pretty well.

Today was the day that Dion was scheduled to be neutered and Tia went in for exploratory surgery because of the whole Hi I'm Tia And I've Been Spayed But Am Still Going Into Heat Anyway MEOW thing. We had to be in Barrie to drop them off at 8am, which meant leaving here at 7:15am, which meant getting up at 6am. ~_~; But it needed to be done, so whatever.

We dropped them off without any problems and then went to the Sunset Grill for breakfast, where I got a greek omelet with hashbrowns and sausage and then proceeded to feel sick from it. So I brought it home to have tomorrow for lunch (hopefully). Mom has waffles with fruit salad and whipped cream and it looked AMAZING.

After that we came back home for a couple of hours before heading back to Barrie again. We went to Michael's so I could get the things I needed for doing the jewelry for the wedding next month. Then when I got home I realized I'd forgotten gold eyepins and the pedant I picked out is in silver instead of gold DURR SENA YOU'RE AN IDIOT. *facepalm*

We have to go back to Barrie in two weeks anyway so I can get the missing things then.

Wow, though. It's the first time I've bought actual gold components (14k) and it cost SO MUCH. ;A; I was putting everything on the counter to be rang up and GAH I didn't even want to know. It cost like $120 for everything because I had the 14k gold, some sterling silver and two strands of actual freshwater pearls. Also, the pendant that was silver instead of gold is pink cubic zirconia. SO EXPENSIVE ASDGH. But I'm still kinna excited to work with it anyway. :3

Anyhoo~

After that we went next door to the huge pet store to look at the cute animals and Mom almost bought a cat from the adoption center. XD;; She was this little cream coloured cutie with grey tabby markings on her face and from her feet to her knees on all four feet. She was really, really pretty. But Lee would have murdered us if we'd come home with another cat. xD; Ah well. She's so lovely I'm sure she'll be adopted really fast. ♥

Then we went to the dollar store because I needed AAA batteries.

After that we went to Walmart, where I got a drink at the McD's there and also bought two happy meal toys because they currently have LPS. *geek* I also bought an LPS monkey from the toy section. We originally went in to find an outfit for me for the wedding, but nothing really jumped out at me. I did get a black shirt for f!Kyo cosplay this summer, though.

That done, we drove across town to Bayfield Mall. :D

We poked around a few stores there and managed to find me a really nice outfit (beige dress slacks and an aquamarine button-down shirt that is really pretty!), though I still need to get some shoes that will match, since my black ones don't go with it very well.

With that all done we went into a couple more stores. One of them is this really awesome curio/collectible shop called Green Earth. I always love pretty much everything they have. This time though, we were about to go inside and in the display window was this stone statue of a cat, sleeping with wings on it's back.

And I stood there for a couple minutes trying really, really hard not to cry. Mom kind of gave me a little one-armed hug and dragged me in to look at shiny things to distract me. All I could think of was buying that statue to put at the top of Tri's grave when I bury him in a month or two.

Speaking of, I've decided on wrapping up a few of his favourite things to bury with him when the time comes; a packet of soft fish catfood, a yogurt cup since he was a yogurt fiend, a catnip pouch and his laser light toy. Maybe other things, but that's what I've decided on so far. I know it sounds stupid, but it makes me feel a bit better about burying him. It's going to be so hard for me to do when the time comes...

Anyway. After that store we stopped at the cafeteria to pick up Taco Bell burritos for my brother, as per his request, since he ♥'s Taco Bell and the one here closed like fifteen years ago. >>;;

Then we had to go pick Dion and Tia up! Everything went fine (which I assumed was the case since they didn't call me at all during the day) and the two of them were sleepy, groggy and pretty much high as a kite on painkillers.

Unfortunately, despite the exploratory surgery, they didn't find anything; no tissue that they missed, and no ectopic tissue either. So they think there's a chance that Tia was going into heat as a response to Dion transitioning from kitten to male cat and therefore starting to reek of testosterone. Now that he's fixed there's a chance she won't go into heat anymore.

Then again, ectopic tissue can be microscopic, in which case even if it's there they would have no way to find it. So I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Tia has to go back in in two weeks because they had to use staples to close her up this time (the incision site this time is 3x the size of the first one), so we have to bring her in to have them removed. That's no big deal though, and it'll only take 20 minutes or so. (And that gives me a chance to go back to Michael's for the stuff I forgot, too.)

So groggy kittens went into carriers and into the car, and then Mom took me to the awesomesauce aquarium store so I could poke around a bit and pick up a couple more catfish for my tank. I also got two emerald green tiger barbs. I asked for three and paid for three, but when I got home and was setting them up in the tank I realized they only gave me two. By then it was too late though. Oh well.

Then we came home. 8D;;

Dion and Tia have just spent a lot of time sleeping, obviously. They're not feeling too bad, though, and had good appetites when I fed them earlier. So it's all good. Another day or so and Dion can go back into the basement with the other boys, but Tia needs to stay in my room for at least a week before rejoining the pride.

So basically, today was super busy and tiring but I got a lot done.

Also? I'm so worried about some of my friends over in Japan (and area). My prayers go out to them and everyone else who's being affected by the earthquake and aftershocks and everything else. Oh, and America can BITE ME. Honestly, some people are serious fucktards. >/
senashenta: (Even Darkness Must Pass)
Still busy with packing and emoing over the whole last couple of weeks. Bah.

At least today I got my last month's rent back from my current landlord. This means I can afford groceries for the rest of the month, and can pick Nyoka up from the pet store finally. Also means I'll have a little money to spend on Friday when Mom takes me on my belated-birthday-day-out to Barrie.

That aside, even with the baseboard heaters and the two space heaters, it is FREEZING in here tonight. Winter's finally settling in, I guess. Took it long enough. Cream of wheat is helping to warm me up, though.
senashenta: (Babbling Babbling Babbling)
Alrighty! Today was grocery day, as is every Wednesday. Woo-hoo. /sarcasm lol.

I didn't have much to get for actual groceries, but I did have to get cat food at the vet's (prescription weight management/urinary tract care food that Neko and Loki are on) and there were Sena-prescriptions I had to pick up too.

At the grocery store I mostly picked up some dumplings and wontons (they have these frozen ones that you steam and they come out DELICIOUS and taste JUST LIKE RESTAURANT GYOUZA/WONTONS ASDGH! X3), canned cat food for Tri and fresh cranberries for making home made cranberry sauce. ♥ I also actually found some eye-of-round steaks that were 90% fat free. Finding steaks with a low enough fat content that I'm willing to eat them is rare, and they were ON SALE OMG so I got a pack of two. :3 I might cook one tomorrow night!

And since Lee was driving and I wouldn't have to actually try hauling them home, I got another set of shelves at Walmart to complete my movie wall in the living room. 8D I spent an hour tonight putting them together and reorganizing everything and now they look awesome and I looooove it. X3!! Haha, I have room next to them for a small cabinet too, so I might pick one up at some point. Right now I have a stand there that I built out of DIY cubes.

At Walmart we also stopped to have dinner at McD's, and ran into Sarah and her fiancé, so we sat with them while we ate and had a nice conversation. The more time I spend with Arthur the more I like him... he has a very grounding effect on Sarah, and her complete bullshit has gone down a lot since she ended up with him. Just for that I approve of him, though he's also a really nice guy. :)

Oh, and this afternoon (before we ran into them) I got a message from Sarah about the wedding; her mother found out I was doing the bridal jewelry and wanted to know if I could design a piece for her as well, to match a set of earrings she wants to wear. I told Sarah I could probably manage it, but I couldn't say for sure either way until I had a look at the earrings. Basically, her Mom wants a large snowflake broach, which I think I can manage. I even have a basic idea in my head using fire-polished crackle beads and swarovski crystals, but like I said I won't know 100% until I see what I'm trying to match. And Sarah's Mom is like rich, so she's offered to "generously compensate" me for doing the project. I LOVE MONEYS. \o/

What else...

Well, yesterday I was out and about and picking up a few things. I needed rats for Aya-- my baby has graduated from fuzzies to pups!-- and a couple of other items.

I got some cookie cutters from Mariposa Market, as well as a bottle of sparkling cider to take to the Christmas get together in like a month and a half. I'm way the hell ahead of myself. xD;; And while I was there I taste-tested some eggnog-fudge which was just ahguisldfghuiadfgarngvu *DROOL* *A* I am so getting some of it to take to the get together as well. :3

And while I was out I got Lee a gift card to the music equipment store downtown, since his birthday is Friday. ♥

Anyhoo! I started working on some new recipes for dog and kitty treats for Christmas presents, and right now I'm in the middle of a decent maple-and-brown-sugar one. Just a little tiny bit of sugar and mostly maple extract for flavouring. They're pretty tasty. I still want to do one more, I think maybe liver flavour and bacon bits for "sprinkles". We'll see.

Oh, and today other than Squall arriving I also got the books I ordered the other day; two of them are for Dad for Christmas (Dragongirl by Todd McCaffrey and Legends of Shannara: Bearers of the Black Staff by Terry Brooks) and the other one was a discount book I stumbled upon, Beyond The Body Farm by Dr. Bill Bass & Jon Jefferson. It's by the same people who did Death's Acre, which is one of my favourite anthropology/criminology books of all time. Which I lent to C.A. way the hell back in 2004 and still haven't gotten back from her. *facepalm* She's horrible about remembering stuff like that. I might just break down and buy another copy and let her keep the first one lol. So I'm really looking forward to reading the new one~!

I also got a little package from Maddie and Chloe today! Or, rather, from "Rufus and Reno Shinra"! To "Roxas". I LOLED SO HARD WHEN I SAW THAT. It was epically awesome. ILU GUYS, DID YOU KNOW THAT? It had a couple of buttons and some cute stickers in it. And caramels! And a pretty glass star pendant which I put on right away and am still wearing now. =3 Hehe.

And I guess the only other thing is the cats.

First; 'Dion scared the SHIT out of me today. This morning he was sleeping under the desk in the back room, which he does all the time because it's right in front of the baseboard heater. I went to sit down to check something on the computer, and reached down to move him... and he kind of flopped around and looked at me like he was half out of it, but not in a sleepy!kitty sort of way. His fur was also puffed up, which cats tend to do if they're not feeling well. This concerned me, and I took him back to the living room and laid down to cuddle up with him some-- which was when I noticed he was shivering. Not in an "I'm cold" kind of way, but in an "I'm in pain" kind of way. I cuddled him close and fretted over him and tried really hard not to panic while I decided if I should rush him to the vet or not.

Finally, he fell asleep and so did I. A couple hours later when I woke up he wasn't there, and when I went looking for him I found him playing and looking as if nothing was wrong. I don't know what the problem was, but DAMN, 'DION. PLEASE DON'T PULL THAT KIND OF STUFF. YOU NEARLY SCARED YOUR MOM TO DEATH. D8

I'm going to keep an eye on him for the next couple of days, just in case. But now he's acting completely fine, so...

Second; Got a call from the Barrie SPCA today, finally! Way back when I first brought Tia home, I called them and got on the wait list for having her spayed and Juna neutered. They were still too young at the time, but the wait list was about four months long so by the time they got around to me they'd be the right age. Sounded like a plan to me!

So on Friday I'm taking Juna and Tia to Barrie to be fixed, for $50 per cat. Let me say that again; $50 PER CAT. Instead of the $350/cat it would cost me to take them to the vet in town and have it done. They also say they can give them all their vaccines and etc. at the same time. I AM HAPPY WITH THIS PLAN AND THE COST INVOLVED. ^___^

I couldn't book 'Dion at the same time since he's still too young, but tomorrow I can call and get him on the wait list and in a few months when they get to me again he'll be old enough.

I'm really, really hoping that having Juna neutered will calm Neko down a bit; Neko is NOT Juna's biggest fan right now and keeps kissing and spitting and snarling at him, which I keep trying to dissuade of course, but it's not working. Neko seems to think that Juna is vying for Top Cat in the pride, which Juna really isn't. He just avoids Neko and defers to him, acts submissive, but Neko doesn't take that for what it is and beats the hell out of him whenever they cross paths. Luckily no real injuries have happened, just one or two tiny scratches and a lot of flying fur. Still. Hopefully once Juna is neutered things will settle down...

And now I think I'm done rambling. For now. And I have the munchies. So Imma go find something to eat. OMNOMNOM and all that.

*salute*

Today was shopping day. Soooo busy and exhausting, but necessary nonetheless. Ah well.

So first was the dollar store for more canvasses... but they didn't have any. ~_~; I had to go to a different store later on to pick them up. I did get a pack of beads for a specific project while I was at the first one though, so at least it wasn't a complete waste of time.

After that was the actual grocery store, where many foodstuffs were purchased to be enjoyed at a later time. These spoils include but are not limited to; cheese, milk, stuffing mix, pizza pockets, shortcake cookies (low fat low sugar ones!!), bananas, etc. :D

Then Walmart where I got paper towel because I forgot about it at FoodBASIC until like ten seconds after I'd already checked out. >>; Also map-o-spread, lemon spread and cheese crackers. I also ended up with a bottle of Omega 3/6/9 supplements and two bottles of vitamin B12 even though I hadn't planned on it since I needed them next week but this week they turned out to be on sale for 50% off. ._. Half price supplaments are my friends since I have to take so many of them and they aren't included in any of my coverage. Bah.

While we were at Walmart MOM BOUGHT ME THE MOST AWESOME SPRING/AUTUMN OVERCOAT I FREAKING LOVE IT TO BITS AND ASDGH!! X3!! I was drooling over them and petting them and we (my brother and I, he came along this week) went to check out and she disappeared... then reappeared after we were all checked out with a coat for me. *A* I can't wait to wear it!! I LOVE MY MOM!!

I also bought a cheap winter coat today, since my expensive one doesn't fit anymore... like AT ALL. lol. I'm going to get it taken in next year, but this year there's no point because I'm going to lose a bunch more weight over the next few months and I'd just have to get it taken in a second time next fall. *shrug* The one I got today is really nice though, a pretty teal colour. ♥

After that we had lunch at the McDonalds in Walmart, and I was bad and had half a Big Mac and a handful of fries and a coke. I haven't had a burger since the US, so it was yummy even though it was horribly against my new diet. XD;;

Then, we dropped off some groceries at Sarah's place (she was sick and couldn't come with us), dropped my brother back off at home, then brought my groceries back here for me to put them away. Mom had a coffee while I organized and everything.

That done, we went back to Mom's place so she could put her groceries away, and I did a load of laundry. While I was there I went to the dollar store by her place and picked up the canvasses that I had been looking for at the other place, as well as a few goodies for P.O.S. packages--

Which reminds me. [livejournal.com profile] kierseth! 8D I've already got Cat McD and etc-kitty in on a new P.O.S. exchange, are you gonna join in too~? 8D

Anyhoo. Laundry done, we came back here to pack up a couple of kittens for a vet trip. Yayz.

Long story short? Orangey!kitten is... staying. *FACEPALM* Haha, I'm hopeless. At the same time, I just couldn't send him back to live with the downstairs neighbours where he would get no medical care and little to no decent food. Mom made a face when I said I was keeping him, but when I explained she understood; I told her that I was kind of feeling guilty over lying to them that I didn't have him, but kind of not at the same time, and she just shook her head and told me not to feel guilty about it because he wouldn't get the care he deserves with them. I'm still worried about the other two kittens they have.

But, since it's pretty obvious that he has worms (and fleas but what else is new?) I wanted to get him treated ASAP before they spread to the other cats. So I took him and Tia to the vet for their initial exam and shots, and got him worming meds. I also got Advantage flea treatment for all of the cats. All SIX of the cats. lmao.

The vet was nice and didn't charge me for the flea treatment for the kittens though. And I got a Kitten Kit for them (they give them away to clients with new kittens and have a puppy one for new puppies too; they have basic care info and a couple toys, a toothbrush, etc. I didn't really need any of it, but new toys are always fun. ♥)

So they got their initial shots and flea/worm treatment. Tia was soooo scared. She's so bold normally, but as soon as I put her into the carrier she got really nervous and afraid. She spent the entire time we were at the vet's clinging to me. Orangey on the other hand, wandered around like his cocky self. Haha.

Next month I have to take the two of them back in for boosters and to pick up more flea treatment since I have to give all the cats three doses (one today, one next month and one in November) since the fleas are so... numerous. >>;

OH. ORANGEY. IS NOT HIS NAME! Shocking, no? XD; I named him Gwydion, after a Celtic God. "Dion" for short. You should have seen the look I got from the receptionist when I told her the names. She was new though, all the usual nurses know my weird pentient toward unusual names; Osiris, Triton, Loki, Arjuna and now Tiamat and Gwydion.

lol for my Valdemar friends, yes, why indeed that's the same name as my fan-Grove-Born Companion. xD

Next week I need to get a tag and collar for Dion...

Anyway, that was that! I came home, let the kittens out of the crate... and crashed for like three hours. I was so exhausted, jeez. Today was just very draining. At least it was soft food treat night for the cats so all I had to do was open the cans and put the plates on the floor. XD

And tomorrow the downstairs neighbours are helping me to move the couch and futon out and move my new fold-out couch in. Yes, the same neighbours that I'm constantly bitching about. For the most part they're a pain in the ass but then sometimes they have random nice days. WTF right? So the people who live downstairs (K and his girlfriend) are taking the couch and M (K's uncle) is moving out at the end of the month so he says he'll take the futon. This is awesome because it means I don't have to try to figure out how to haul them to the dump.

As a thanks for helping out with so much heavy lifting and rearranging I bought them a case of beer and I'm going to cook a huge stew for them for lunch (since 90% of the time they can't even afford food I figure they'll appreciate it.)

Thus, tomorrow I have to get up early to move everything out of the way so that said rearranging will be easier to manage. Yep.

EDIT: Oh, and turns out I have to mail my laptop back to Acer to get it fixed. Mrr. Gonna have to do it next week. =/
senashenta: (In And Out Of My Mind)
So, no real entries from me in a while. Why, you ask? Well, for those of you not following the avalanche of Tweets I posted about it (they were forwarded here too, but I don't imagine many people payed attention to them in my LJ), let me tell you.

My Internet was out. FOR ALMOST ELEVEN FULL DAYS. DX

It went out on a Wednesday, and I finally called Rogers on Friday morning when I woke up and it was still out. It was then I was informed that they couldn't get a repair tech out to fix it until THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY. As in EIGHT DAYS later. *facepalm* Way to FAIL, Rogers!

Then when the tech finally came on Saturday (he was supposed to be here between 2pm and 5pm, but of course didn't arrive until 6), he was here for a grand total of five freaking minutes, just long enough to PLUG MY NET BACK IN because someone had disconnected it down where the lines enter the building in the utility room. =__=;;

Anyway, Internets are back again. I spent that whole eleven days basically working on beading stuff for the upcoming cons, watching a FUCKTON of movies, glaring at my modem and going moderately insane from boredom and Net withdrawal.

Not much else to report, except that I'm flailing over last minute Otakon stuff right now. Trying to decide which beads to bring with me to work on stuff at the table since I can't fit all of them into my suitcases. Packing and re-packing said suitcases to try to fit as much in as I can. Man, I have a ton of stuff this year, not because of cosplay or anything (like the last two years) but because of all the Artist Alley things. >>;

Oh, and I have a bunch of granola bars and other snacky foods packed because with my new diet I have to eat snacks throughout the day and IDK where I'd buy them down there. Plus granola bars were on sale when we did groceries yesterday, so I got four boxes of them and a box of pop tarts (which were also on sale.) And I also have a can of cashews (for protein!!) and a bag of marshmallow candies just because. And a pack of strawberry wafer cookies. And maple cookies for everyone else, even though I don't eat them. XD;; Haha.

Other than that, the only mentionable thing is Wabora. X3!

On Tuesday night I took Mom, Lee, Grandma and my brother to Wabora for dinner. Wabora is a fusion Japanese steakhouse in Bracebridge; they've been there about three years now. Anyway, THEY DO TEPPANYAKI. I've wanted to go ever since they opened, but it's obviously rather expensive so I couldn't.

But when my money from the tax rebate came in last month I decided as a thank you to my family for everything they'd done for me over the last few years I'd treat them to the hibachi show/dinner at Wabora. I took $320 with me and told them to order whatever they wanted, too.

The only one that was worried about it was Lee because he doesn't know much about Japanese cuisine. But since it's a fusion steakhouse they have a lot of western foods on the menu as well, so I knew he'd be able to find something he liked. And I knew for a fact that he would enjoy the show, even if the food wasn't 100% to his taste.

But I think of all of us, he was the one who had the most fun. It was awesome to see him enjoy himself that much. Same with Mom and my brother. (My bro was SUPER excited when he heard we were going to a teppanyaki restaurant!)

So I got a combo plate with chicken and teriyaki steak (half of it is in my fridge right now since I couldn't finish it lawl) and my brother got a combo plate with lobster and scallops, and we trades so we could both try everything. We also shared a sake sampler, which was a little bit of four different kinds of sake. It went straight to my head. Oops? xD;

I wanted to try the blueberry sparkling sake, but they didn't have any when I asked. =/

And I got really yummy pomegranate tea, and tried the tempura ice cream (green tea flavour!) for dessert. It was an AWESOME meal and show, even though it was expensive ($230 total with the tip. >>;;) and I would love to go again some time. Lee says he fully plans to go again as well, which is great to hear because there aren't many foreign restaurants he's willing to go to. ♥

Yesterday was awesome and exhausting. I got up at 9am and vacuumed and swept/mopped before C.A. came over around noon. lol she forgot my books again, but that's nothing new. She's been forgetting to return them for like four years now. XD;;

So she got here and we pretty much left right away to have lunch at the new sushi place downtown (Asai Sushi? The name is something like that.) We were originally going to have dinner there instead but C.A. had to head home around 4pm, so plans got changed to lunch. ANYWAY.

The sushi place was AWESOME. It moved in there in the spring-ish of last year but there's no one in town normally that would go with me and I can never justify actually going out to a restaurant to eat by myself. >>; And C.A. was having the same problem so us going together worked out perfectly.

So we looked over the menu and ended up getting a couple of things to share, just a variety of sushi. We specifically got unagi though because I wanted to try it. X3 We had miso soup to start with, then a gyouza appetizer and then a sushi combo plate with the unagi as well as sushi with cod roe (which is SO MUCH better than salmon roe), some with crab, some with tuna, and some with prawn. SO YUMMY!! ♥♥♥

We were going to get some green tea ice cream for dessert too... but then we completely forgot about it until like two hours later. Oops. XD

Then on the way back here we stopped at Euphoria and got smoothies. This time I tried the raspberry lemonade smoothie and oh. My. God. It was freakishly good. I am SO getting another one next time I'm downtown. :3

So we came back here for a few minutes to rest and then headed out again, this time up to where the LCBO and Zehrs are. We looked for Popov vodka in the LCBO, but they don't carry it yet (SADFAISE), then we went into Zehrs so C.A. could buy some Lucky Charms for a friend of hers in England. I got grapes and tapioca pudding while I was there, and thought about getting some persimmons but then changed my mind because they didn't look really good. Ah well.

Then we wandered back to my place again at which point it was about time for her to leave. I MIGHT be seeing her once more before she heads back to England, but it's not for sure yet. I hope so, though. I seriously miss having her around here to talk to or just hang out with like that. *sigh*
senashenta: (...Would Like To Lick You)
Shopping day was yesterday. I had like no groceries to get at the actual grocery store (the only thing I needed was milk) but I had a bunch of meds and pet stuff to get at Walmart so I just did all my shopping there. It took me about 20 minutes and then I sat around McDonald's by myself waiting for Lee and Sarah to finish up for another 40 minutes after that. XD;;

As I was meandering back to the cash after getting everything though, I wandered past the fruit section and ended up grabbing a dish of watermelon. DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS WATERMELON. Speaking of which, have you guys heard my watermelon rant? It basically boils down to me being jealous of the USA because they still get the good watermelons and up here all we get are the crappy seedless ones that have no taste. =/

While we were out for shopping I mailed the first half of the things that I sold on ebay. $70 later and I still have another dozen packages to go next week. Ouch. But at least I'm getting rid of some clutter and the things I'm selling are going to people who will enjoy them, right?

So after shopping/mailing/whatever, Lee brought me back home long enough to drop off my groceries and then I went back to Mom's place with him to visit and have dinner. Mom and Lee were away all this last week, so I chatted with Mom about their trip and I have to say, she was SO stressed and frustrated with everything when she left, but she's feeling MUCH better now. It's so good to see because my brother and I were both starting to really worry about her...

For dinner we had broccoli and carrots, and potatoes done on the bbq. Then Lee cooked pork chops, which I can't eat, but he insisted on digging out some chicken and grilling it for me instead. I really can eat a meal without meat (I've been doing it for half my life) but it was appreciated anyway. :)

...and then after all that, something in the meal (I think the potatoes, they had a lot of margarine on them to keep them from burning on the bbq) didn't agree with me and I ended up having to throw it all back up again. God, I felt SO BAD about it. They invited me over and cooked dinner for me, and then I ended up puking it in the end.

I apologized a bunch, but they said not to worry about it. Still. That sucks. *sigh*

And today C.A. is coming over to hang out and we're going for sushi later. I'm really looking forward to it. :3

Currently watching the original The Crazies, the one from 1973. I watched the new one a couple months back, I figure I should see the original one at least once. Anyway~

I actually talked with C.A. on the phone today, and we made plans for Thursday. She's going to get a ride into town (she lives outside of town) around lunch time and hang here for the afternoon. And we're going to go to the new sushi place downtown and check it out for dinner. ♥ I'm super excited, since I only saw her for five minutes when she was here at Christmas. X3

Aaaand tonight I tried cooking spaghetti again, but it was a no-go the same as the last two times. I can eat every other kind of pasta, why do I always hurl when I have spaghetti? MAKES NO SENSE. So after an unpleasant experience where I had an intimate meeting with the toilet, I waited a bit and then just ordered pizza. >>;

DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS PIZZA. THAT DOESN'T MAKE ME THROW UP. FUCK YEAH.

Then I cleaned out all the cages and litter boxes, since tonight is garbage night. Now all the bunnies are out to play; the girls are in the kitchen and the boys are in there living room here with me generally being adorable and underfoot.

lol this is the first time Juna has seen them outside of their cages, and he keeps following them around and going .___. in their general direction. ♥

So being all proud that I walked all the way from downtown to Mom's place? Yeaaaah. When I woke up the next day my body HATED me for it. My knee and one of my hips are currently seizing up off-and-on every ten minutes or so, and have been since yesterday. Muscle relaxants; they are my friends.

Other than that, I ended up staying at Mom's place and hanging with my brother until like 10pm yesterday before I finally called a taxi and came home. XD;; Then I pretty much just fed the critters and then went to bed.

Today I had an appointment with my doctor, where she weighed me and asked me various questions and generally got my medical charts caught up. My prescriptions are also changed a bit now, I have to pick the new ones up tomorrow or the next day.

After the appointment I walked downtown (slowly, with my cane this time) and went to the dollar store because I needed some fine tip black markers (for addressing the packages I have to mail.) On the way home I stopped at Euphoria and got myself a berry blend smoothie and a chicken fajita wrap for lunch/dinner. ♥

And now I'm watching Robin Hood on tvshack.

OH. My rl bff is back here from England for a while, and am hoping to actually get to visit with her this time. We have tentatively decided to go out for sushi together some time this week. But since email/facebook convos don't tend to stick with her very well sometimes, I'm going to give her a ring tonight and see if we can finalize our plans over the phone. :3

EDIT: EDAMAME! *MUNCHMUNCH*

Moving is {mostly} finished! THIS PLACE IS A DISASTER. I HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF.

The landlord just stopped by and brought me samosas. :3

Today was awesome and OMG DINOSAURS. At some point when I get home (on Friday) I'll make an actual update and talk about all the stuff from Otakon and Dayton/etc. but for now I don't want to hog Momo too much. And besides that, it's just about 3:30 am and we're getting up tomorrow to go downtown and take Turk photos and pics of me in my BOYS!Riku cosplay.

Right. Dinosaurs in Cincinnati were awesome. And we had Chinese food for dinner and it was awesome too. I crossed frog's legs, kimchi and tiramisu off my life's To Do list as well. That's four foods I've always wanted to try in two days! I'm on a roll! Plus if we go to Jungle Jim's this week Chloe promised to help me find pork buns. X3

Apparently my cats have been little buggers while I've been gone. Mom says Tri has peed on my bed and Loki has decided that litter boxes are for peeing in front of and not inside. She's doing her best but I'll have to straighten them out when I get home. -.-; At least Neko and the rabbits are behaving themselves. Sora too.

Oh, and as a funny side note, one of Maddie's friends asked her yesterday if she and Chloe had had a threesome with me. xD; A couple nights ago I was feeding Maddie ice cream while we were reading stuff on the laptop, and apparently that means we must be sleeping together. XD;;

Ah! And before I forget, the ghost kitty here, Sapphire, likes me! :3 Last year he jingled my suitcases and I saw him for just a split second. This time he jingled something one night, and then tonight I felt a cat jump up onto the bed next to me (those of you who have cats at home know the feeling when a cat hops up beside you) but when I turned to pet it, there was nothing there and Saiga and Kaikei were downstairs. Then later when I was downstairs watching Ghost Hunters with Maddie and Chloe I felt whiskers rub against my leg, but again, Saiga and Kaikei were nowhere near. I'm strangely pleased that Sapphire seems to approve of me. <3
senashenta: (For Now A Sandwich)
TONIGHT I HAD ALLIGATOR (and crawfish and sausage) FOR DINNER. SO EXCITING. I can now officially cross that off my life's To Do list. 8D
senashenta: (If You Still Believe)
So today I've decided to watch the Saw movies. Or, 2-5 anyway. I've avoided them all for a while because I watched like half an hour of Hostel a couple years ago and couldn't finish it because of the horrible, horrible torture sequences (I actually gave it away ASAP after that, hope you liked it Sethi? XD;;) and then just after that Sui-chan told me Saw was just as bad if not worse. So I crossed them all off my list of movies to see. XD;

But then a couple months ago I caught most of the first one on the TV and it wasn't nearly as bad as all that. xD;; The problem with Hostel was that it was torture and that is a big problem for me. Just violence doesn't bother me so much, and the Saw movies seem to be more about plain violence and mental anguish.

Anyway, so I watched II and III earlier and now I'm on IV. YAY. Then later today I have The Uninvited to watch.

Oh, last night I talked with Michi a bunch. ♥ ILU MICHI. I don't talk to her enough. /random

I guess RY is mostly dead now. It makes me sad. I love that place, but it's just... gone downhill a lot the last couple months, basically since we went on hiatus. *sigh* I'm sticking through until it's totally dead, though, or possibly if Steph and Maddie want out I'll talk with Mari about things we could try to get it going again. Hmm.

But if it completely dies, would people be interested in rping out some of the stuff we have planned anyway? We can do it over AIM or I'll set up rp threads in my own journal or something? Because I really want to at least do a couple logs with that vacation that Asch, Luke, Kadaj and Axel are supposed to go on. And some more stuff with Haruhi and Roxas. Things like that. Thoughts on that, people I rp with?

Now I need to get back into TV some. I was supposed to be off hiatus forever ago. But between being sick and... well, frankly, depressed as hell, I haven't done it yet. I'm going to get kicked out if I don't get back there asap. *sigh*

...today is such a nice day out I actually have my window wide open for fresh air and it's not freezing. SO NICE.

Also, I want spaghetti. IDK why, I just do.

EDIT: Beginning June 1st, I need a passport to enter the US, even if I take the bus. =__=; Stupid US. But I just checked the government site and apparently if I get my application in asap it'll get back to me in 4-5 weeks. I guess on the plus side, if I actually get off my duff and get a passport I can take a plane to Otakon instead.
senashenta: (Just Obsessed)
Wow, I think I'm having a good day. I mean, not just one where nothing terrible happened, but one that I'm actually enjoying. I can't even remember the last time I had a day like this. .__.;

I was up really early, but mostly because I went to bed early last night; I was depressed and just didn't want to deal anymore. Anyway, so I was up early and decided to get dressed and go for a walk. I headed generally in the direction of Memorial street, and ended up at the dollar store (of course) where I picked up some new paintbrushes (I'm desperately in need of them right now) and a couple of new exacto knives. Yey.

After that I walked a bit more... and ended up buying a submarine sandwich at Subway. At like 10:03 in the morning. Whatever, I hadn't had breakfast yet, so it was kind of brunch for me. And it was LOADED WITH VEGGIES. AND HAD MUSTARD. OMFGYUM I WANT ANOTHER ONE. *3* lol.

Haha, then I wandered home and ate my sub on my coffee table because I don't have an actual table. Note to self: Buy a damn breakfast table and some chairs FFS.

I chatted with Steph some. =3 I missed it lately because she's been so busy, so I'm happy I caught her. Uh... I hope I didn't screw her up with the essay though. >>;;

Then with A&E on in the background (Crossing Jordan, American Justice and Cold Case Files), I set about cleaning cages and litter boxes, sweeping, vacuuming, etc. Now I'm all done, except I have to do the windows at some point, and this place is all clean and spangly (albeit still cluttered with sale stuff and goodwill stuff. >>;)

Now I really should get around to taking the garage-boxes down to storage, but my back freaking hurts from all the stuff earlier (the cysts on my ovaries press against my spine so when I do a lot of bending and stuff it makes my back hurt), besides which I got my air conditioner put away last night so now my back window is free and open again and I have the nicest cross-breeze flowing through my apartment right now.

So blegh. I'll take the stuff down tomorrow. Today I'm done. And quite content too. I'm cool and comfy, and nursing my back a bit... and seriously kinna want another sub sandwich. wtf. xD;;

...DAMMIT HICCUPS! GO. AWAY! ><;

EDIT: Also, I got a lovely home-made postcard from [livejournal.com profile] tsukizu today. It made me smile; an actual smile, the kind that's not forced or strained. I haven't smiled like that in a long time. :)

EDIT #2: And just to make things better, I had a taco salad from Wendy's for dinner and tonight is new CSI night! \o/

...because I can't find any paper, my notebook is already packed up, I need to remember some stuff for groceries tomorrow or the next day, and I know I'll forget something if I don't write it down. >>;

-Apricots (25)
-Plums (30)
-Grapes (1 batch red, 1 batch green)
-Milk
-Rabbit Food~
-Crackers
-KNOX Gelatine (10)

Mmm, I have to go have blood work done tomorrow, so I can't eat until I do that (I have to do a 12 hour fast beforehand), but now I'm thinking about food/etc. and I'm hungry. I fail. xD;;

Also, I actually finished a book tonight for the first time in like a year. Alien: Earth Hive, because I'm a geek like that. ^.^;

1) Finally, a month and a half after AN, I've got Esprit Studios up and running. XD; I was hoping to have it up by the con so that I could have a web address on the cards I was handing out, but I was so busy with other things it just didn't happen. Anyway, I wanted to purchase my own domain (like esprit-studios.com or something), but I couldn't afford it; it would cost me like $10 to register the domain, but then $200 for hosting for a year. ^_^;;

So Esprit is hosted at angeltowns.com in a paid account, the same as ND/FC. I'm really happy with my hosting at angeltowns, they're affordable and they give you a lot of storage/bandwidth/etc. for what you pay. :)

Everything's up and running right now except the Gallery, which I'm going to work on bit-by-bit until it's finished. And I'm thinking about adding a How-To page about how I do my customs, with FAQ and stuff.

2) I mailed Axel on Wednesday, and he got to his new owner on Thursday! Yey! I was quite concerned about shipping him because of how much trouble I had just transporting original!Axel around the con, but I did him with Super Sculpy and packed him in a ton of foam peanuts, and wrote FRAGILE FRAGILE FRAGILE all over the box. And he made it safely, so I'm very happy with that. =3

3) [livejournal.com profile] valdemar_blogs! There's the beginning, Sethi! ^_^; Don't look at the layout, I'm working on a new background image for it. And my blog for it is [livejournal.com profile] king_gwydion (gee, am I blogging as a Grove Born or what?), which also totally lacks a layout right now. XD;; I'll let everyone know what's going on and pimp it some places in a bit when I've had some time to write up the rules/regs and work on everything else some more~

4) Mmmmm. Tuna sammich with celery and relish. *__*

5) Now I have to turn my PC off, because it's thunder-and-lightning storming out right now and I don't want it to fry. *wanders off to work on commissions again*
