1) Back from Grandma's... my computer is still not ready. -__-; They said it'd be all good to go by Tuesday. Not impressed. Though I did call and they said I can pick it up tomorrow. Right now I'm using Mom's PC again.

2) A few days ago, before I went to Grandma's, I decided it was finally time to put Phantom in with my other girly bunnies in the big cage. I was still a little worried about it, since both she and Pauper are so territorial, and I thought if it didn't go well there might be a bunny bloodbath. But I've been working on Phantom for four years now and figured it was about time to give it a shot; so I let her out of her cage to play, then a while later I gave her some granola and picked her up, and just put her into the big cage instead of the one she's usually in.

She went "...." but didn't flip out as much as I thought she would. And surprisingly neither did Pauper. ^_^ It went SUPER well actually, and aside from some obligatory humping to establish dominance (Pauper came out on top, I think), there wasn't even any fighting. (Which could be in part because I loaded them down with as many treats as I possibly could as a distraction lol.) I kept an eye on them for a few hours just in case, and then relaxed and set about switching Pagan from his little cage to Phantom's old cage. ♥ Then I left for Grandma's tuesday and when I came back it was all still well. I'm pleased, and Phantom seems to be liking the big cage pretty well. And I'm hoping being social with the other buns will help Phantom be a bit happier too. :3

3) Went to get my train tickets! :D ...and when I got there they told me that three of them couldn't be ordered from them because I was leaving from a US city. BAH. But I still got my first ticket (from here to Baltimore) and the one from Toronto to here at the end of the trip. The other three I have to order from the online US Greyhound site. Psh. Doing that on Monday.

For now, Michelle, my bus officially arrives in Baltimore at the downtown bus hub at 12:45pm on the 6th. <3 If you can't pick me up for some reason I'll get the address for the hotel from Maddie and take a cab there or something. :)

4) Grandma's place and the trip to the naturopath... sucked ass. But I don't want to get into it right now or I'll start crying again. I'll type it up tomorrow or the next day once I've calmed down a bit.

5) Also, I have a ton of pics of Tetsuya that I'm going to post once I have my own PC back.
senashenta: (ARGH!)
The other day I trimmed Pauper and Phoenix's nails; Phoenix was lovely and just let me do it, which is kind of unusual, normally she flails like I'm trying to cut her feet off the entire time. >>; But Pauper did flail, and I ended up clipping two of her nails too short.

I know it's not a huge deal, but it always makes me feel bad if I do it, and this time especially since I've never clipped any of Pauper's nails short before. Plus, she's got white feet and a white face, so she ended up looking like the rabbit of death from Monty Python and the Holy Grail by the end of it.

Anyway, she flailed a lot, even wrapped up in the towel, and by the time I was done there was blood everywhere; the towel was soaked in it, and so was my shirt, and because of the way she was squirming I had streaks of blood all over my arms/neck/any skin that was showing too. And of course, all the white fur on her was red instead. TT~~~TT

I held her until her nails stopped bleeding and then put her back in the cage... only to have her jump around and break them open again. =.=; So then she bled all over the cage, too, while she was trying to groom herself clean again. BAH.

Bunny bloods. )

Now. On to Triton.

On Friday he went in to have the plaque/tartar removed from his teeth; he was on antibiotics all last ween before that. When I dropped him off, I gave them the number here and at Mom's place, but told them I was going to be out so they might have to just leave a message.

So Mom and I went up north to the Chiropractor, and did groceries, and when we got back here... there was a message from the vet asking me to please call them ASAP. At which point my heart took up residence in my throat, and the groceries got left in the hallway while I made a telephone call.

The vet said she didn't like how he looked; he looked dehydrated and had lost weight in the week since he'd been in last, and his hair was "tuffty"; I breathed the most rediculously huge sigh of relief, you have no idea. First, the previous week he'd been off his food, which I'm relatively sure is because of the antibiotics. Second, he was pissed and probably scared, and when Tri gets like that he poofs his fur up. I'm not sure about looking dehydrated, but he was drinking fine and I hadn't noticed anything wrong.

She was concerned about putting him under for the operation because I had opted against IV fluids (because I couldn't afford it), and she really wanted him to be on IV/catheter. So I asked Mom and she said she would pay for the extra so they could do it for him. Done deal.

When we went to pick him up at 5 though, they said they wanted him to stay the night. The operation had taken much longer than they thought it would (an hour and a half), and he was still loopy from the anaesthetic and everything.

Basically, this is how it went; they were going to do the cleaning, and instead found that he had a 5mm epulis on either side of his lower jaw, covering some of his teeth, as well as neck lesions, and a bunch of his molars were rotted through from the inside out. In the end they had to remove both his upper 3rd premolars, and both his lower 1st molars as well.

Tri is now minus four teeth. -.-;

When we picked him up yesterday then, he was still loopy (from the pain shot, lol, his pupils were so dilated he had no colour in his eyes XD;). They sent three more doses of pain meds home with him (Metacam), as well as more antibiotics (Clavamox... I think?), as well as Fresh Dent to apply to his gums, and toothpaste to brush his teeth (starting in a couple weeks). Also, for two weeks he has to be on soft food, and after that he's on T/D food from now on, rather than the C/D that Loki and Neko are on. MRRGH.

Anyway. Tri seems to be already feeling better; he was chewing on a carboard box today, and he hasn't done it in quite a while. I'm kinna annoyed, I was glad when he stopped. xD; I'm still happy he's better though.

EXCEPT. With everything extra they had to to... it cost about $550. =_______=;; Mom had to pay for most of it. I nearly had a heart attack. >>;
senashenta: (When I Panic I Make This Face)
1) I'm at Mom's, which is fine, and I brought the rest of my stuff to finish up the jam here. I got two batches done (I'm doing it in smaller batches now, about half the size of the ones I was doing before and it seems to be setting alright because of it \o/) and... ran out of sugar.

gnsdwgujheryijklgnjhfk;dh! ;.; Come on! I have three more batches to do, and I'll be done! DONE! *weeps*

2) In other news, [livejournal.com profile] cat_mcdougall got her P.O.S. today, which means [livejournal.com profile] kierseth should get hers pretty much any day. The rest of them will take a while because they're overseas. It makes me sad that Cat isn't on LJ anymore, though; I can't see if she liked the stuff I sent or not! D=

So I made an IJ and friended her just for that. I'll probably never use it, but whatever. I guess if I ever need it, it'll be there. xD;;

3) Also, I have to take Pauper to the vet on Friday afternoon. I wish I could take her earlier, but I don't drive and I can't get a ride until then.

She's got a bald spot by her eye that I noticed this morning; I mean completely bald, no hair whatsoever. It's blue-ish and about the size of a thumb print, but that's big for a 3-pound animal; it's also got a few little blisters around the edges... or something like blisters anyway. I'd take her in regardless, but I'm actually a little worried this time... *pets her*

I hope it's nothing serious, but I get the feeling it is. Haa, it's been a while since I've been this worried about one of my critters...
senashenta: (This Is Not Happening)
Right... today has been tiring. -.-;

We went to do groceries, but I haven't had money to buy anything the last three weeks, so I had about five gagillion stops to make. At least my tax money came in, so I could pick up some stuff that I haven't been able to, like spaghetti sauce and things like that.

My big splurge with my tax money was another rabbit harness/leash at the pet place for like $9, so now I have three; I can take Pagan, Phoenix and Pan out at the same time. Phantom refuses to wear one (she absolutely freaks out if I try putting one on her, and doesn't get along with the others anyway), so she can't go for walks, but the others like it. I also tried putting one on Pagan, and he just looked at me like "...what are you doing?" and then went about his business, so he'll probably be fine with it as well. :)

I might try taking Pauper and Phoenix out for the first time this spring tomorrow, if it's warm enough. <3

Anyway...

So I've been really down lately... even more so than usual. And I've had a couple of people asking about it, so maybe... I should just explain so that everyone understands, and hopefully doesn't worry so much.

I've always... )

senashenta: (Too Cute For Words)
The last few days, I've been letting Pauper and Phoenix out to play at the same time as Pan and Pagan; at first it was a little iffy, they were all wary, but there was no real animosity, and they slowly got used to each other. Then I started leaving the cages open while they were playing, so that they could poke about inside each other's home base.

When that went well (and Pan and Pagan surprised me with how high they could jump, they can already hop their way up to most of the shelves inside the big cage <3), today when Pauper and Phoenix decided they'd had enough playing and headed home, Pan and Pagan were poking about inside the cage-- and instead of collecting them and putting them in their own cage, I just shut the door.

We'll see how it goes, but so far so good. If any problems crop up, I'll move them back to the smaller cage again and try again later. As it is, Pagan is going to have to go back to the other cage in a bit so that he doesn't get at any of the girls before he's neutered. >>; I still have a bit of time, though, and I want them all to bond, so...

Anyway!

BUNNY PHOTO SPAM: NOT GOOD FOR SLOW CONNECTIONS! XD )

Pagan has the cutest helecopter ears right now because they haven't completely fallen yet. XD;

EDIT: Aw, group grooming session~ ♥
senashenta: (Too Cute For Words)
Panyin & Pagan~

I went back into the pet store for critter bedding, and the bunnies were still there... including the one who licked the glass when I was wiggling my finger at her. >.< And because I'm weak as hell, my household has grown by two more residents. >>;

Panyin is the grey girl (the lick-y one, lol), and she's a mini-rex, just like Phantom, so she's super soft. She'll be called Pan for short. I was considering calling her Pippin at first. XD;

Pagan is the black and white boy (yes, I said boy), and he's a mini-lop. His ears haven't fallen yet, but the breeder assured the store that they would; even if they don't, I still think he's cute and squishy. ^_^

They're both very friendly and lovey, and Phantom already likes them. Phoenix is curious, and Pauper is kind of wary. But none of them are upset by Pan and Pagan's presence, so things are already looking good. <3

Pagan needs to be neutered in a couple of months, obviously, since he's the only boy I have, but it should fall approximately when I'm selling ponies at AN, so it'll all work out. :)

I'll be posting more photos later, I'm sure. But right now they're settling in (their cage is next to the big one that Phoenix and Pauper are in), and I don't want to bother them just yet.
senashenta: (...When You KILL Them)
I had a doctor's appointment this morning (yay); it was just for prescription repeats when I made it, but I ended up getting a flu shot and the doctor took a look at my hand while she was at it. Now my arm aches. But my hand is feeling much better now that the antibiotics have started working. :)

It's still all bruised and the joint is swollen a bit still, but it's on it's way~

And today I picked Loki back up from the vet's after his neuter/declaw. He's a little grumpy, but fine otherwise... EXCEPT.

While they were doing the pre-op exam, they found three whole fleas on him. No eggs, no flea dirt, just three adult fleas. So they treated him for them. SOUND FAMILIAR? And I had a nice long chat with the vet about it, where she insisted that the chances of him picking up fleas from their office twice were very slim.

So I went out and bought a flea comb to check the rest of my animals.

Neko is FLEA FREE. Tri is FLEA FREE. Pauper is FLEA FREE. Phoenix is FLEA FREE. Phantom is FLEA FREE. The rats are FLEA FREE.

Loki is also flea free now, as are Sarah's cats.

The vet is trying to tell me that the fleas must have come from here, and must have come into the house back in May when I first got Loki. And he's the only one with them, after that many months? PLEASE.

THOSE FLEAS CAME FROM YOUR OFFICE. AND I DON'T APPRECIATE BEING CHARGED FOR A FLEA TREATMENT WHEN THAT'S THE CASE.
senashenta: (Blue Hearts Bunny)
My carpet is now littered with six sets of animal nail clippings. *vacuums*

And I'm covered in rabbit scratches, because the cats are good when I clip their nails but the buns hate it; they all flail like crazy when I do it. Though Phantom's getting better about it, so mostly it was Phoenix and Pauper who scratched me all to hell. Ahhh well, I knew it'd happen when I got the clippers out. ^_^;

Though actually... I've been told there's a specific way of holding a rabbit on it's back that puts it into a kind of trance? I've managed it once with Phoenix (by accident when she was little and I was worried that she might be a boy instead of a girl, lol), but haven't managed it again-- until tonight.

I had Pauper tucked under my arm against my side to clip her front claws, but she wasn't cooperating at all for her hind ones, so I flipped her over and just happened to get her into the right position. She calmed right now and got really still, and I petted her a bit and then snipped her back nails really fast. I need to practice that. It was handy.

Then I rubbed her belly for a bit until she decided it was time to sit up and lick my chin.

I love my rabbits. <3

As for the cats~ Loki is going in on Monday to be neutered and have a front declaw done. He's just past eight months old now, so it's getting to be time. Plus, he's started getting a bit more aggressive with the other cats. >>;

So in to the vet he goes~
senashenta: (SPAZ)
Earlier the buns were out to play, as they are most days! All was well! They romped, they chased the kitties, they snacked on carrots and granola. They were generally cute. Then when it was time for them to go back to their cage, I herded them in that direction and put them to bed.

All was still well.

Until about a half an hour later, when I happened to glance over at the rabbit pen and saw this. )

I am a bad, bad kitty Mommy. XDD;;

Also, a random pic of the snow from last week. Nuuuuuu~~ )

AND, so go with the winter pics from a few months ago, I thought I'd post some of the property while it was summer. It's such gorgeous property... and unfortunately, Grandma is probably going to be moving away from there next spring, as it's too much for her to keep up on her own... *sigh*

Grandma's house pictures~ )

I love this house and the surounding property. I don't want Grandma to move... but she really will have to. And if I had the money, I would buy it in a BLINK. It's going to be so sad when she packs everything up and leaves...
senashenta: (If You Still Believe)
Lee took Mom and I to Kempenfest (or however you spell it) today, to try to cheer us up. Possum came with us. Kempenfest is like this bige festival, with tons of music, and miles of stalls with things to shop for. Crafts, pottery, art, and stuff like that. Usually it happens at the same time as the Barrie summer fair, too, so down by one end the festival kind of trails into the fair, and there are rides.

It's normally fun stuff, and I did enjoy it today, but at the same time it was kind of dampened. Nothing feels right at the moment... you know? Anyway, Mom ended up buying a necklace, and I got a really nice glass photo frame, which is for a photo of Grandpa, once I find a really good one that I want to put in.

I think I'm going to take [livejournal.com profile] mavan's advice, and put together a little spot in my apartment in his memory, with a photo and a candle, and maybe some flowers. And I think I'm going to do a pony in his memory (her name is going to be "Candle In The Dark")... does that seem stupid? I dunno...

Well... photos now, I guess!

Pics of... stuff. )
senashenta: (Ghost Of You)
So Mom and Lee have these two baby gates (you know, the things that you put into doorways) from a year-and-a-bit ago when they first got Possum-- he wasn't 100% housetrained yet, so when they went to work in the morning, they put the gates up and left him in the kitchen (which has tiles) for the day, to avoid huge messes on the carpets.

They haven't used them in a long time, but last night I dug them out from the basement and put them up so that I could bring Phoenix and Pauper downstairs and let them run around for a bit.

For about two hours last night, the girlies were puttering around the kitchen; I had put the cats in the room upstairs while they were out, because Loki likes to play with the buns. This is normally fine, but with Phoenix still sporting sutures, I don't want to take any chances-- Loki tends to get rather exhuberant with his playing sometimes, and I didn't want him to hurt her by accident. :)

But Possum was out, and spent the whole time meandering around the other side of the gates going O_o; at the bunnies on the other side, lol. After a while I brought Pauper out and crouched down so he could have a sniff at her... and he decided that rabbits are scary not-dogs, the same as the cats, and that he'd rather look at them through the gates, thank you very much! >^-^;; Such a wussy puppy...

In general, though, Phoenix seems pretty good. She's eating/drinking/pooping/peeing fine now (yay no G.I. Statis!), and her limp seems to be going away, which just confirms in my mind the idea that she was just limping because her belly hurt.

I think she's going to be fine. ^_~

I'm still hesitant to put her back in with Pauper just yet, though, for fear that Pauper might pick on her or something and open up the stitches...

Anyway, having taken care of Phoenix (who was so pushy she got bumped up two spaces on the Pets Who Are Due To Be Spayed/Neutered List), the next one who'll be up to bat is Loki, who needs to go in for shots some time soon, and then be neutered in a month or two, before he starts spraying.

After that is Phantom, finally, even though she was supposed to be first, originally... ^_^;

Also, I'm depressed, and that always makes me sleepy. MORE sleepy. And coming from someone with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, that's saying a lot. =.=;
senashenta: (Babbling Babbling Babbling)
Well, last night I did dishes and stuffed some of my many stray pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals into garbage bags. Then I was up all night (yay insomnia!) and got to sleep around 7 or so... then got back up around 10, and set about cleaning critter homes, transferring bunnies around into different cages, and then moving everyone downstairs to the back room, with the exception of the cats, and Phoenix and Pauper.

Then I cleaned up the apartment; all the usual cleaning, plus in the places that I can't normally get to because of cages and terrariums being in the way. I also covered the big rabbit cage with some sheets, since I can't actually move it without taking it apart-- Phoenix and Pauper are now in the cage that Phantom usually inhabits, and Phantom went back into her old cage, just for the time being.

This is all in preparation for tomorrow, when I'll be spraying Raid all over the damn place in an attempt to lessen the number of freaking insects that are crawling around right now. :P

There's still some small things I have to do before I can actually spray, like pack up any foodstuffs, and seal off the cabinet with my dishes, and cover the couch/chairs, but that's going to wait. The food and dishes I might do tonight, but the couch/chairs shall happen tomorrow, so that I can still use them until then...

Tomorrow morning, Mom and I have an appointment with the Chiropractor, then when we get back into town we have some errands to run, since tomorrow is the last day before she and Lee head off on their vacation out west. After that, we're coming back here and loading all my stuff-- and the cats' stuff, and the rabbits' stuff, and the cats, and the rabbits-- into the van, and I'm going over to her place to stay for about a week and a half. ^^

I'm looking after Possum (which I've mentioned before, I'm sure several times) while they're gone, and I don't mind staying there. Neko, Tri and Loki are coming with me, as was always the plan... Phoenix and Pauper got added to the list of "coming with" a couple of days ago, because Phoenix is going in to be spayed on Wednesday, and I want to be able to keep an eye on her afterward. And because she and Pauper are bonded (and practically attached at the hip, I might add), I didn't want to sepparate them for that much time...

Have I talked about Phoenix and the spaying?

I planned to have all my buns spayed as soon as I could, starting with Phantom, since she's the oldest of them, and was saving up the money to get her done, with general plans to have Phoenix and Pauper spayed probably some time around December or so.

BUT.

Phoenix started having phantom pregnancies-- I know I mentioned that before, since [livejournal.com profile] lipstickcat commented about her Ghost having phantom pregnancies, too. I wasn't too worried about it, since I planned to have her spayed anyway, and figured it wouldn't hurt her to wait for a couple of months. A fake pregnancy or two wouldn't be a big deal...

...until a few days ago, when I looked into the cage, and realized that, while nesting for nonexistent babies, Phoenix had ripped so much hair out of her hindquarters that she's now got two rather large bald spots, one on either hip. -_-;; Sigh. Having some bald spots won't kill her, but it's obvious she's not going to be able to wait until the fall/winter. (Also, she was building her nest in the litterbox, so both of them had started peeing in the back corners of the cage instead...)

Anyway, yeah. I talked to Mom, and she agreed to spot me the rest of the money to get her spayed now (since I don't have quite enough saved up yet). I called on Friday and made an appointment for this Wednesday coming up. Phantom was supposed to be first, but I guess these things happen. *shrug*

In any case, the only thing I'm sort of fretting about with going to Mom's is that their Internet connection is wonky sometimes. About half the time you try to use it, it won't connect, even though there's nothing wrong with the modem, and it says their LAN is working fine.

I need Internet... ;-; *wibbles* lol.

Mom's supposed to call Rogers and talk to them about it, but keeps making excuses "because she gets off work so late, when is she supposed to call??", even though the Rogers tech line is open 24/7. I called at 5 in the morning once, and got them to help me out. Mom just doesn't like calling about stuff like that. :P

So I'm bringing an actual journal (yes, I have one, even though it hasn't been used in YEARS), just in case, and I guess if I have too many problems, I'll just call and deal with the problem myself or something...
senashenta: (Freaking BATMAN)
As requested by [livejournal.com profile] lipstickcat, some more info on how I built my rabbit cage. ^^ I didn't take pictures while I was putting it together (I totally should have, DUH), so I hope this is okay and helps-- if you want any more info let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

First, a list of what I used to build the cage. YAY SUPPLIES.

-- 4 packs of storage cubes. I got three of mine at Walmart, and the fourth at Canadian Tire because Walmart ran out.

-- TONS of zip ties. The kind I originally got were white, and not particularly good quality-wise. They tended to break pretty easily. Because of my own trial and tribulation in this regard, I definitely recommend spending the extra money and buying really decent zip ties. The kind I finally ended up with were black with about a 60 pound test; they came from an electrical supply store (where my step-dad works, in my case), and are originally intended for industrial use. I used about two and a half packs of them.

-- Doweling to support the shelves. I used very thick dowels (1 + 1/4 inches thick), just to be safe, and the cage ended up needing eight of them. You could probably get away with six or seven, if you don't intend to use the top of the cage for storage. Mine needs lots of support for the roof because I have a DVD rack sitting on top of it. XD lol. I got it from Canadian Tire.

-- Grass mats/carpet/wood/tiles/something to cover the floor and the shelves so that little bunny feet don't get stuck in the grid holes of the storage cubes. I have grass mats on the floor (Walmart), and thinner carpet on the shelves right now (Canadian Tire/Walmart).

-- Latches for the door. The best idea is to get something that's made of metal, so that they won't be damaged/bad for your bunny if it/they chew on them. I'm using metal clips, like the ones on the end of a dog leash-- they cost about $1.50 each and came from the hardware section of Canadian Tire. You could probably find them at Walmart/Zellers or places like that, too.

You also need scissors, an exacto knife, and endless patience. By the time I was done, I never wanted to see another zip tie again in my life! ^_^;

Really really REALLY simplistic diagrams... )

It should be easy to figure out how to put the squares together with the zip ties. You need to use a lot of ties to make sure that the sections are secure, then start attaching them together to build the cage.

You HAVE to put a bottom in the cage to help secure it, or it will be wobbly. It will also seem quite wobbly until you have all of the shelves put it, and possibly until some of the doweling is in place. Don't worry about that. Once everything is put together properly, it'll be very strong. :)

Pics of corners/doweling attatchments/etc. to see how I did the zip ties. )

Most people also buy chloroplast to form a bottom tray for the cage, to try to contain any messes... but I can't find a place around town who had it available. So for now, mine doesn't have one.

I'm told it's cheap, though (if you can find it), and easy to use. You just get a piece that's a foot bigger than the cage long, and a foot bigger deep, then score at the 6" mark on each side, cut at the corners, set the cage in, and fold the edges up. I'm assuming you use tape or something like that to hold it.

All together, my cage cost probably just over $100 to make, plus a couple of hours of time, of course. ^_~

Anyway. Questions?

Two random photos, somewhat cage-related. )
senashenta: (Just Obsessed)
Since I haven't posted random animal pictures in a while, I give you... random animal pictures. |_|; Yeah. A lot of them are of Loki, as he's of the age where he does lots of pointless cute and funny things all the time.

But first there are a couple of rabbit pics! )

Random cats (mostly Loki)! )

Loki's ear... )

Loki + bedsheet = apartment OTP (lol!) )
senashenta: (ZOMG! Envy)
I'm almost done the new rabbit cage! ^_^ I just have two shelves and half the roof to finish (but I'm out of zip ties), but it's done enough that I moved Phoenix and Pauper in anyway. ^^ They really like it... but the first thing Phoenix did was dig in the litter box and throw the clean litter all over the place... >^-^;; Oh well...

Eventually, I plan to move Phantom in with them, but because she's so territory-conscious, I'm going to leave the other two in the big cage for a while before I put Phantom in, too. ^^; To help avoid big fights and stuff...

Ack! Picture! X3

EDIT: Aren't those mats ugly? They were the only grass mats I could find that were affordable and didn't have snowmen on them. WTF, snowmen? It's almost July! XD

senashenta: (iMiji)
I haven't slept a wink tonight, and my apartment is now in complete and utter disarray. =.=;;

Because I couldn't sleep, I decided to keep myself busy (instead of just laying around staring at the ceiling), and put together as much of the new bunny cage as I could, given that I don't have enough NIC squares for the whole thing, chloroplast for the bottom, grass mats for the floor/shelves, litter boxes to go in it, another water bottle, or a hay dealie. Yep. So it's half done now.

But then I was like "well now what am I going to do? I have this huge half-finished cage, and nowhere to put it!", since I hadn't rearranged yet.

Thusly, I rearranged.

One of my dresser's got moved out of the way, and the other got moved over to make room for the cage (which is going along that wall, next to the window). This, of course, involved unplugging several appliances (lamp/clock/air filter/radio/etc), and plugging them back in once the dresser was situated again. Both of them are now empty as well, and all my clothes are piled unceremoniously on my round coffee table, awaiting sorting and putting away.

The smaller dresser that was moved away from the wall completely was then wheeled over to the far cubby hole, which is actually fits in nicely. There's storage behind it, and it's still accessable, so I can still use it for storage as well. Plus, it hides all the clutter and boxes. But of course, I forgot to pack my boxes away back there before I put the dresser in... so it came out again, then the cubby hole got packed with stuff before it returned to it's new home.

Yuki, 'Nashi and Kori, whose cage used to be where the little dresser is now, had been moved out of the way, and are currently sitting on their table, pending further movement. They'll eventually be going where Phoenix and Pauper's cage is now, once the girls get moved into the new one. ^_^;

Phantom, meanwhile, is staying where she is for the time being. And she was not happy with all the movement around her, by the way; she kept making loud thumping noises the whole time I was shuffling stuff around. lol. Phantom just doesn't deal well with change. She's very set in her ways. ^_~

So, later today (or tomorrow, since I'm starting to get tired now), I have some spare cages to move down into storage in the garage, and I need to reorganize the other cubby hole to fit in some of the plastic bins of my collection (the rest is already in the cubby behind the dresser). Then I have to put away all my clothes again, and decide if I want to keep all the videos/books that were stored in the big dresser until I emptied everything out up here, or if I want to send them down to the garage for storage, too.

Hmm...

And of course, I have a couple of boxes of odds and ends that are supposed to go on the shelves above the one dresser/new cage if and/or when I ever manage to get around to putting them up again.

Oh, and a couple of days ago I found some laundry cupboards at Walmart; they're two feet tall, so they'll fit along my short walls, and were on clearance, so I put a set on layaway, and I need to pick them up in a week or so. When I get them here and put together, I need to reorganize again to find somewhere to put them. XD

Do I know how to make things complicated, or what?
senashenta: (Hotaru... Butterflies)
So yeah, Dad thought that Yoda!pony was hilarious, and I pretty much do too. Now I want to do more Star Wars ponies. I already have plans to do a Darth Maul one eventually, but I don't know when I'll get around to doing it... >^-^;;

Aaah, we're having a huge rainstorm right now, which would be good, except that it isn't doing anything to help alleviate the heat, and is, in fact, just making it a lot more humid. :P Eeegh... oh well... not much anyone can do about that. If it continues to rain like hell for the rest of the night, maybe the heat will break, though.

Right now Phoenix and Pauper are out playing, and Loki is sleeping in his crate, since that's what he does after I feed him every morning and night. Usually I try to time it so that the buns are out playing then, so that he doesn't bother them too much. lol.

Phantom isn't out right now, though... I haven't been able to let her out to play with the others lately. She gets along fine with all the cats, and gets along fine with Pauper, but lately has decided that maybe she doesn't love Phoenix as much as she thought she did after all; when they're out together, they get into big fights that end up with countless tufts of bunny hair ripped out and flung all over the floor. I think it's because Phantom thinks she's the boss, and Phoenix doesn't like to take orders from anyone. A pecking-order type thing.

Still, I guess this means that I really do have to get Phantom spayed... which really, I already knew. This is just another poke about it.

Le sigh.

Because I don't have anything else to post at the moment, here are some random photos. Again. )
senashenta: (Too Cute For Words)
Loki just suddenly realized that WTF, that cage dealy over in the corner has hoppy furry not-cat thingies in it! =O

He's spent about twenty minutes sitting completely still, about a foot away from the cage, half underneath the couch, just staring at Pauper and Phoenix. I don't think he's even blinking.

lol, cat.

The rabbits are staring back though. XD

Relatedly, I decided not to let the buns out tonight, as Loki's got enough to get used to already without them coming at him. Even Phoenix is twice his size, and she's the one who likes to chase cats! ^^; I'm going to let him get used to them though the cage for a couple of days before I give them inside!playtime.

Gots to take them outside to play tomorrow for excersize, though... :)

Neko still isn't speaking to me, by the way, especially since I gave him a good smuck last time he hissed at Loki. Now he's sulking under the bed. He'll get over it in a day or two.
senashenta: (Durr...)
So... Phoenix seems to have passed her case of The Sneezies on to Pauper, too. Though Pauper doesn't have a drippy nose. Yet. So I called and made an appointment to get them in to the vet later today.

I'm relatively sure it'll be no big deal, but I'd rather get them in and be told I'm being silly, than not and have them end up with pneumonia or something. Right? Still. This is money I can't afford. -_-;; I really hope the vet just tells me that they're fine, so I don't have to worry about meds and return visits... :P

On the plus side, I'll get him/her to sex them both, just in case my gender differentiation skills are lacking. (What? I did my best, but Netherland Dwarf buns are hard to sex! ;-; lol)

HUGE-ASS EDIT: When I called to make the appointment for my girls, Pine Grove (the practice I normally go to) had no free spots, so they told me to call Ark and make an appointment there; we have four or five vet practices in town, which are all owned by the same vet, and which have a half dozen vets that rotate around between them. All their computers are linked, so if there's no room at one, you can just take your pet to another one, and they simply call up your file there. SO CONVENIENT.

Anyway, so I took Phoenix and Pauper to Ark, and saw a vet that I'd never dealt with before. I didn't know what to expect, since all vets are different, but she was really nice. She cuddled with my bunnies to calm them down, since they were really nervous. =3

Basically, she checked them both out, and said that Pauper looks pretty much fine... and while Phoenix does have a bit of a cold/runny nose, it's not really bad, and she'd rather not prescribe antibiotics unless she has to, since rabbits sometimes have bad reactions to them. She says to keep an eye on her, increase the humidity a bit for her (if possible), and keep their cage extra clean to reduce amonia build up. If she gets worse, or if her noise gunk is cloudy, then I'm supposed to bring her back in.

She also recommended flea combs as a good comb for rabbits, as I was mentioning that I can't find a decent brush to deal with their shedding. :)

AND! To top off all the nicities, she only charged me for one office visit, even though I brought both of them in-- normally, if I bring in more than one animal at once (which is the convenient way of doing things), Pine Grove charges me for an office visit for each animal. I <3 Ark Animal Hospital! lol.

So the short form: my buns are fine. And both female. (Hell yeah I got her to check that! :P)
senashenta: (Sweatdropping Shuichi)
Jeez. I let the rabbits out to play, and went downstairs to get something to eat... and when I came back upstairs, like two minutes later, Phantom and Phoenix were chasing each other around in circles, tearing big chunks of hair out of their respective hindquarters. I was like O_o;;

So I grabbed Phantom, checked to make sure she'd only lost hair, and dumped her back into her pen, then went to check and make sure Phoenix was okay. To be honest, I was more concerned about Phoenix, because of the huge size difference. Phantom could have hurt her easily. Anyway, she's fine.

I don't know what bought it on, though. They've never done anything like that before... Phoenix was probably just being a bug as usual, and Phantom wasn't in the mood. ^_^;; Bad bunnies! Bad! lol.

Ah, and speaking of Phoenix... I'm taking her to the vet later this week. She's still having random sneezing fits, and today her nose is running kind of goopy, instead of just clear. She doesn't seem to be feeling bad, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'd rather take her in now, instead of waiting and having her cold (or whatever) end up in her chest and with her getting really sick, or passing it on to one of the others...

Right.

Now I have to go chase the little buns away from eating my broom. ^_^;; They like to eat my broom.
senashenta: (Urge To Kill RISING)
The people called about the computer today, and told me they adjusted the fans a bit, but need to put a new CD burner in before they can finish the diagnostic/tuning, as my CD burner is completely POOCHED. I knew that already, but I was hoping they could do the diagnostic and etc. without it. But then, DUH, they need to run discs to do it, so yeah. :P

Even with them putting in a new CD burner, it's still only going to cost about $100 (okay, more like $150, counting the pre-pay $40 and taxes)... which is a good thing because I think I'm going to have to take Phoenix and Pauper in to the vet.

Pauper doesn't have anything wrong, but Phoenix has been sneezing and/or coughing the last two days. I really can't tell which. ^_^; Her nose is the teensiest bit runny as well. I'm going to keep an eye on her, but if it doesn't go away, or if Pauper starts sneezing, too, I'll have to take them in just to be sure. *sigh*

Poor bun. I really hope she's not really sick or anything...

A WTF Sarah moment. Again. )
senashenta: (Urge To Kill RISING)
So I took my girlies outside to play today! And I have a story to go with it!

MUCH CURSING FOLLOWS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I took everything down for the bunnies, then went back upstairs, loaded them into the cat carrier and hauled them down three flights of stairs, and let them out in the play area... I was sitting watching them play, and suddenly I saw Sarah's cat, Fritz, wander past in the corner of my eye. I was like "HUH??" because Fritz and Fuzzy (as well as my cats) aren't allowed outside.

Long story short; Don installed our back door a couple of months ago, and did a half-assed job, as usual. He didn't bother to cut a notch for the latch, so the only way to shut the door and keep it shut is to use the deadbolt. *SO NOT IMPRESSED*

Since the back door is down at the bottom of the stairs in the back sun room, I closed the door to the back room and locked the cats in the main apartment, because there's no way to shut the back door from the outside, and I didn't want them getting out-- here's the kicker. When Don installed the back door, he didn't bother to go out and buy a new deadbolt for it, he took the one off the sun room door. So basically, there's no way to lock that door now... and the cats somehow opened it.

Right, so I see Fritz and I'm like CRAP, and I look around a bit, and Fuzzy's there, too. I didn't want to leave the rabbits by themselves, but I had to run and catch the cats, and I figured they'd be okay for a minute or two... so I chased Fritz and Fuzzy around to the front of the house and up onto the porch.

Fuzzy jumped up on the windowsill and cowered, because he's never been outside, and was scared shitless. Fritz, on the other hand, tried to dash around me to freedom again-- I grabbed him on the way past.

BIG. FUCKING. MISTAKE.

He hisses at me, then wraps himself around my arm, starts biting and clawing, and totally shreds my hand. I went "SON OF A BITCH!", but didn't let go. (I was PISSED, then, and so not giving him what he wanted). Instead, I slammed him down onto the porch, with him still biting me, and pinned him there. Then I grabbed him by the scruff of the neck with my other hand, and hauled him inside.

So I'm bleeding all over the damn place, I'm holding Fritz, he's THRASHING and WAILING, I'm praying he doesn't get himself turned around enough to latch onto my other hand, and I'm opening doors with the one that he mauled. Halfway up the stairs, he swiped a paw and managed to nick my other hand-- and I snapped "SHIT!" really loudly.

Sarah heard me, and opened the last door in time for me to lose my grip on the cat, and for him to zoom past her, into the back room (since the door was still open), down the stairs, and BACK OUTSIDE.

She chased after him (she apologized later for that, and said she would have stayed to help me if she'd realized how bad I was hurt), and I bled down the hall to the bathroom to wash my hand off and see just how bad the damage actually was.

THE FUCKING CAT LITERALLY TORE CHUNKS OUT OF MY HAND.

Little ones, but still!

When Sarah got back inside, I was just coming down from my apartment with my gauze, and she helped me wrap my hand up. Said gauze is about seven layers thick, and I still bled right through it. In fact, that was over two hours ago, and I'm still bleeding from a couple of spots where he chewed flesh away. I should probably have gone to the hospital, but it's pretty much too late now...

We managed to get Fuzzy back inside with no problem, but Fritz took off and was gone for about a half an hour before he came back. Neither of us even bothered to look for him-- we were both too pissed off. And Sarah apologized to me a bunch of times (like it was her that bit me, and not her cat, or something.) Eventually, Fritz showed up on the porch again, and Sarah grapped him by the fur and threw him inside. She is SO not pleased with him right now. (Actually, I think she's more angry with him than I am...)

So basically, my hand hurts like hell. Typing is okay, but using my computer mouse KILLS.

Anyway! After that adventure, I went back outside to sit with my rabbits again, and Sarah brought Ritter out to join us. They all seemed to really like being outside, though they did a lot of O_O;; eyes for the first couple of minutes. lol.

And I took a bunch of pictures. )

Now I think I might have to go down to the pharmacy to get some more gauze and antiseptic... =_=;;

EDIT: I was just talking to Mom, and she thinks I should go get a tentus shot or whatever just in case. So! Of to the hospital I go anyway!

EDIT-EDIT: They didn't give me a shot, but they prescribed a bunch of antibiotics and warned me to come back ASAP if it gets any redder. Incidentally, WTF FRITZ?? ) >_<;; That's just the top side... the bottom side is all sliced up, too, as well as along the inside between my thumb and index finger. -_-;; And the big hole there is still oozing, over five hours after the original incident...

EDIT AGAIN: Oh yeah, and the ponies came in today. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] papercut917! =3

OMG EDIT: 8:48 PM, and still bleeding... =_=;;
senashenta: (Working Hard)
I had too much stuff to do today. -_-;;

Lots of shopping to do for various things; cat food, a bucket (to go with my mop, duh), another cat litter box, a cat dish (for the new kitten that I will be adopting in a couple of weeks! X3), some beef crunchies for the rats, filters for my air purifiers, and, of course, NIC CUBES! XD

I got three sets of the NIC storage cubes, each of which had 13 squares in it. Then later, Mom and I discussed various options for putting them together, and I ended up deciding on using these three sets to put together an outdoor play area for the bunnies (also, for Sarah's guinea pig, Ritter), and to work on a new cage for my girls later.

To rearrange my furniture for the big cage for Phantom, Pauper and Phoenix, I need to box up all the VHS tapes and random books that are in my second dresser and move the dresser into storage. The cage will go where it was. It's inconvenient, but about the only way I can fit a big cage in, given the stupid slanty walls that I have for most of my place. >_<;; GRR.

So, I need four more sets of cubes for the cage, plus some doweling, more zip ties, and probably something to form into a bottom (chloroplast?). Also, some little pieces of carpet. I'll have it done by a couple of months from now, probably. I have a bit of time before the little girls completely outgrow their cage, and they'll be okay as long as they have a good long romp outside every day. ^_^

Anyway! So I spent over an hour putting together a play area. I used over 150 zip ties (counting about ten that I broke in the process), and now have HUGE blisters on both my thumbs. Here is a somewhat blurry picture of it, taken from my third-floor window. )

It's starting to get dark, so I decided not to take them outside to play today, but I'll take more pictures when I take them out to play tomorrow. ^^ I'm actually very proud of the playpen-thing, simple as it is. Also, Sarah thinks it's the BESTEST IDEA EVER! lol. I'm looking forward to letting Ritter out to play a bit, too, since she never lets him out inside. Hopefully he'll get along with my girls. =3

Uhm... I did laundry today, too. And while we were at the mall (which is right by where the vet is, where I bought the cat food), I got three books... just because. Sanctuary by Mercedes Lackey, Powers That Be by Mercedes Lackey and Elizabeth Scarborough, and a new Dave Duncan book, the title of which completely escapes me right now. |_|;;

Mom borrowed them all right away. >^-^;; Ahaha...

That's about half of my tax rebate money. Phantom may or may not be spayed right away, depending on how things go... guess we'll see. :)
senashenta: (Too Cute For Words)
Hey, another step forward! ^_^ I let Pauper and Phoenix out to play, and just opened the top of Phantom's cage, and she hopped out on her own! YAAAY Phantom! *applauds*

Mweh... she's getting kinda pudgy, though. *pokes* BUT. She'll be spending a lot of time outside this summer, since I found {the equivallent of} NIC cubes at Walmart! Finally! So maybe that will help her lose a bit of weight.

I'm really looking forward to setting up an area outside for them to play. I think they'll really enjoy it, and it'll give me an excuse to sit outside and read or whatever, too, since I wouldn't leave them out there all on their lonesome, just in case. ^_~

Anyway. Yesterday, along with the package from [livejournal.com profile] kierseth, I also got a couple of movies from the DVD club; Fun With Dick And Jane and Memoirs of a Geisha (which I finally just broke down and bought :P). I watched FwDaJ last night, and MoaG this morning; they were both good. Jim Carrey made me laugh, as always, and Memoirs was just amazing. =3
senashenta: (Blue Hearts Bunny)
I took a whole bunch of random photos last night while my girls were playing, and some of them were really cute, so I thought I'd share. The carpets are now Rabbit and Cat Approved! =3 I cross posted this to [livejournal.com profile] houserabbits.

Watch us romp, mummy! )
senashenta: (You're My Love Interest!)
So about a month ago when Mom and I sat down to work out my taxes (and subsequently mail them away), I was like "YAY! I'm getting some money back!" ...not much, really, but just over $400, and that's more than I have now. The funny thing is that I got all excited, but all of it's going to go toward my critters, not me. lol.

Firstly, I'm getting Phantom spayed; I've been kind of putting it off the last couple of months because of the cost, but screw it. I'll get her done out of the tax money, and that they I don't have to worry about it anymore. I feel sorry for her already. ;__; I always feel sorry for my animals when they go in for spay/neuters/declawings/etc...

Anyway, the next thing I have to do is buy a new/bigger cage for Phoenix and Pauper, as they're on the verge of outgrowing the one they're in AND I CAN'T FIND NIC CUBES FREAKING ANYWHERE! >_<;; Are they even in Canada? ARGH!

...right. So, new cage for the girls. *nods*

Also, I must stay the hell away from the rabbit pen at the pet store, because right now they have the cutest little dwarf bunnies leik, evar. There's a little creme/brown one (that's probably a buck :P) that jumped up on the side of the pen and wiggled it's nose at me every time I walked by (I was wandering the store getting bedding/litter/hay/etc.)... and I so almost dropped what I was carrying at the time and snapped it up. Good thing Mom was there. >^-^;;

Then after the new cage, if there's any money left, I'm going to stock up on cat food, since Neko and Tri are both on the C/D from the vet. They sell "normal" bags of food for $15 each, which last about two weeks-- and they sell HUGE-ASS bags of food, which are the equivalent of six bags, for approximately $60 (so it's like getting two free bags), which last about three months, and are much more convenient. The problem is that a random $60 is a little hard to budget for... ^_^; So if I have any cash left from taxes after Phantom, and the new cage, it shall go to kitty food. Because we all know my boys like to eat. lol. =3

And on a completely random and unrelated note, Pauper has figured out that she's big enough now to jump up onto the couch on her own; she's always been a Couch Bunny, but only when I lifted her up. A couple of days ago she suddenly figured out she can do it by herself. ^^; I've been waiting for it, actually, since some of the things she's been climbing already are taller than the couch is...

So the night that she discovered it, she nosed around the edge a bit... then just hopped up. Then poked about the couch itself for a while. Then hopped down. Then hopped up again. Then down again. Then up again. Then down. Then up. ...and so on. ^_^; I was on the computer at the time, and from where it is, the couch is sort of in the corner of my field of vision, and all I could see was a black-and-white blob jumping up and down over and over... it was quite funny. It's times like that I wish I had a video camera.

I do feel kind of bad for Phoenix, though. She's still too little to jump up on her own, and I don't know if she'll ever be big enough. But DAMNED if she doesn't try! The poor thing struggles and struggles to follow Pauper up... but just can't do it. Though if I lift her up, she has to qualms about taking a crazy nose-dive back down when she's had enough. X3

Aaaaah, the bunnies are amusing...

And yeah, I've been up since 5:00 this morning, thank you very much. -.-;; I think I'm going to go and see if I can catch a couple more hours sleep before I have to get up for the day...

No, I'm not focusing on completely random things in an attempt to forget about Kusha...
senashenta: (Blue Hearts Bunny)
My family doesn't celebrate Easter, really, so I don't have anything special to do today.

But! I come bearing BUNNIES! )
senashenta: (Durr...)
I got some snow peas and raddishes for the critters this time {today was Grocery Day, of course}, just for a change. I got carrots and apples for them, too, as always, but I thought they might like something different. ^^ So everyone's really happy to have treats. <3

I was a little surprising, but the rats really loved the raddishes. For some reason I thought they'd kind of go "...meh." to them... >^-^;;

Yesterday I picked up some beef crunchies for the ratties, too... because their teeth are getting a teeny bit longer than they should be. They've got lots of stuff to chew on-- mineral block, wood chews, corn cob, etc-- so I don't know why... but anyway, the beef crunchies are really hard beef-flavored discs (actually meant for dogs, but whatever), that Yuki-tachi love, and about the only thing I've ever found that they have to actually work on to eat. So, in response to the teeth thing, they get yummies. I'm sure they don't mind. ^_~

While the bunnies were out playing today, I cleaned a bunch of cages... I figured, it'd be easier to do the rabbit pens while they weren't in them, as opposed to having to transfer them around to do it later. Anyway, Phoenix and Pauper were absolute PESTS the whole time. ^_^; Little bugs!

They poked around, hopped into Phantom's cage, their cage, the rats' cage, nibbled from the rats' food dishes, at the bags of shavings, at the bags of timothy hay/etc., poked around all over my lap, and climbed into the garbage bag of used/dirty shavings, among other things. ^^; I kept picking them up and moving them to the side, and they kept coming back... eventually, I had to fill the cages with new shavings while Phoenix and Pauper were hopping around inside them. Nyahaha... then they were all covered in aspen bits... X3

They smelled nice afterward, though, because of the cage deodorizer that I use. Kind of like bubblegum. =3

I have pictures, but my camera is recharging, so I'll have to post them tomorrow...
