OMFGFWEE! Omni is playing The X-Files starting in the fall! XD

*glee overload* ^__^

On a completely different note, Mom and I went out of town today, and while we were out we stopped at a really good pet store that I go to whenever we pass by that way. ^^ It's where I got Bedrock, Granite, Noriko and Ryu-chan, as well as some of my fish.

I needed to look for a fitted top to the mouse terrarium, and I found one. Awesome. While I was there, I also found a mirror-and-bell toy for Yuki and 'Nashi, and they love it. >^-^< It was originally supposed to be a bird-toy, but I was told that they're good for rats, too, and apparently they really are. I might have to take it out at night so I can sleep, though... or I'll be stuck with jingling bells and bouncing rats while I'm trying to get to sleep...

Aside from that, I got a dozen little silver goldfish for my aquarium, so now it looks all balanced and pretty. And I also got two more mice to add to my miniature mouse-colony. One of them is kind of a slate grey (I named her "Ayase") and the other is white and brown, and looks a lot like Ryu-chan (I named her "Hana"). ^^ The only difference between Hana and Ryu-chan is that Hana has patches over both eyes, and Ryu-chan only has a patch over her left one.

As long as I can tell them apart, I'm good. :)

Yesterday Ryuu-chan called me out of the blue again... she does it all the time, so it's not really surprising anymore. Does that still qualify as "out of the blue", then? ^^; Naa, anyway, she was in town for the weekend (+ friday) and wanted to know if I felt like going to Barrie with her to look for some furniture.

She's moving at the end of the summer, and basically needed all new furniture for the place she's moving to. I have no interest in furniture shopping. But I told her I'd go with her to keep her company, and make her take me to the Chapters when we were done. XD Not that it's really hard to "make" Ryuu-chan go to a big book store, though. :P lol.

When she came to pick me up, though, it turned out that she'd had someone give her some furniture after she called me. A friend of the family had offered her a bed and a desk, so all she needed was some bookshelves and a bedside table... she really didn't need to go to Barrie for that, but she was going anyway because she promised me we'd go to the book store (and she knows how pouty I get when I can't go to Chapters...)

Since we were there anyway, though, she looked for some bookshelves and a table. We got some shelves, and then headed to Chapters; where I bought a Russian dictionary. And broke down and got the first three volumes of Fruits Basket. ^_^; So much for not starting any new series...

Muaaa! But Fruits Basket is so good! >^-^<

I finished reading them last night, and then wished I'd bought more than just three volumes of it. ^^;; Now I have to wait until the next time I get a chance to go to Barrie to get more. ;__;

Oh well...

Then once we were done there, I asked if we could go to the big aquarium supply store that's a few blocks away, so off we went. Right behind the fish place, though, is the Goodwill store for that section of the sity, and Ryuu-chan wanted to go in there to look at furniture for a minute. We went in to do that before the fish place, so that if I got fish they wouldn't bake in the sun for who-knew-how-long until we came back. ^^;

She ended up finding a table there for something like $6. And I actually got two chairs! COMFY chairs! They're faux leather and really retro-looking. =^-^= Maaa~

The problem with where I'm living right now is that the stairway leading up here is really narrow, so anything I bring up has to be less than two feet across. O_o The only reason I have a couch and a bed up here is because the couch is a futon, so it can be taken apart and movies piece-by-piece, and so can the bed.

Anyway, these oh-so-comfy chairs are relatively thin, so I could fit them up. ^^ That was one of the things I'd been looking for, since I lacked for a good comfy reading chair up til now. Though the cats have pretty much adopted/stolen them from me since I got them in. -_-;;

So we loaded all that into the van and then went to the fish place... where I got some fish for my aquarium. *nods* This time I decided to cheat, though; I can fit about two dozen little(er) goldfish into it (if I'm doing goldfish), but that gets expensive, and the fish can be touchy. This time, though, I got four big ones--two Shubunkin and two Pond Comets. They're tougher than normal goldfishies, just as pretty, and take up enough space that I'm pretty much done filling my tank now. ^^

I have this horrible urge to name them after Fruits Basket characters.

Nyahahaha... ^.^;;

Mom and I had an appointment this morning (what else is new?), and she showed up early to pick me up... gah. I was on the computer, chatting with [livejournal.com profile] cassandracsenta at the time, so I had to bail all of a sudden, run around to get my stuff together, and then dash out the door. Meanwhile, Mom sits in the car and looks up at my window, waiting for me to come down. :P

Now, our chiropractor's office (for those who don't know, lol) is about an hour's drive away, in Bracebridge. ^_^; Which is okay with me, because it means I have a chance to chat with Mom for a bit... also, the only store that I buy animals from is about a block away from where we go for treatment, so I make Mom stop by there to poke around about once a month or so.

Today was one of those times, because I had a mission: FISH. For my aquarium.

I also needed algaecyde... but when I looked for it, it wasn't there. And when I asked about it, the guy said that they can't sell it anymore because it's illegal in Canada. O_o; Meep... I ended up getting a filter addition that's supposed to stop algae growth instead.

Whatever. As long as it works, I don't care what it is.

Then, as they were having a sale on fantail goldfish this month (1/2 price!), I bought five of them. *shrugs* You should see the looks I get when I say "I want five fantails... what? No, I don't care what they look like." I'd rather they weren't sickly (duh), but other than that, I don't really have a preference--though I did ask him to grab five that were different, so that I had a bit o' variety in my aquarium.

So, algae-filter thing and fish in hand, I hied myself over to the "small animals" section; I was looking for a water bottle for a terrarium (tank-habitat) and a little ceramic-type food dish. Found both. WHOOT.

About the time I was grabbing the dish, Mom pokes me and picks up this mineral-chew thing (a solid rock-type mix of limestone/minerals/vitamins/salt/etc. for rodents). Here's why this is so important; I have degus (a type of African ground squirrel, I named them Bedrock and Granite). They're adorable, and friendly, and I love them to bits.

They are also going bald.

Yeah. I have NO IDEA why! They're healthy and fine in every way, except that their hair keeps falling out. O_O; But... because degus are sort of diabetic, they don't have much they can eat. So Mom was thinking that maybe they were missing something in their plain-chinchilla-food diet that would contribute to the hair loss.

I asked the clerk if the mineral-and-vitamin-bar would be okay to give to a degu (since they're so touchy with what they can and can't eat), and she said yes, they give them to the degus at the store all the time. So I picked one up. Here's hoping the extra nutrients help a bit.

*shrug* I figured either way, it won't be bad for them.

So I've got a filter-thing, goldfish, a bowl, a water bottle, and a mineral-rock-chew-thing; next I poke through the food area and grab a bag of rat/mouse food. Mom gives me this O_o;; look.

At which point I turned around and told the guy (who'd gotten my fish) that I wanted two mice. >^-^< Ehehehe...

Again, he wanted to know what kind. I told him I didn't care what color/etc., as long as they were both of the same gender. ^^;; I definitely don't want a breeding pair... I ended up with females, not that it matters.

He got me two mice, and I took everything up to the cash. ^_^ Maaa... the problem with only buying things from one pet store (and one I only get to go to once a month at that) is that by the time I get there, there's usually ten things that I want/need to buy.

Anyway! I didn't even get to see my mice until I got home and put them into my little terrarium, but they're so cute~! =3 Sooooo~ tiny! One of them is dark brown with white patches (I named it Noriko) and the other is white with light brown spots around it's head and shoulders (I named it Ryuichi). Next time we're up there, I'm getting one more and naming it Tohma. XD

*giggles in a slightly unbalanced fashion*

So, overall: 2 cats (Osiris aka "Neko" & Triton aka "Tri"), 2 degus (Bedrock & Granite), 2 mice (Noriko & Ryuichi, and soon-to-be Tohma) and five goldfish. ^__^

I'll be getting more goldfish some time soon, too, assuming these ones don't die.
