I HAVE A DATE AND TIME TO PICK UP AN AXOLOTL NEXT WEEK!! <333
It's in Elmvale, which is like a half an hour-ish drive away, but Mom is fine with it so on Tuesday I'm going to pick it up! It's a wild type and I don't know the gender (won't until it's older/bigger) but I'm going to name it Kaida, which is a Japanese name that means "little dragon." :3
The tank is 99% ready to go and has been cycling for a month now so basically I just need to add the second air stone (I'll do that today or tomorrow), GET A NEW AIR PUMP THAT IS QUIETER JFC THAT'S WHAT I GET FOR GOING CHEAPER, and obtain some more plants. But adding a few more plants to the tank shouldn't bother the 'lotl much at all so I'm not worried about that. I'm hoping to get some from the awesome aquarium store in Barrie when we go around the 15th or so.
I also still need to... SIGH. Unpot Sam and clean off his roots to plant him in the aquarium. Boo. It's such a chore. But I should do it BEFORE introducing the axolotl so some time in the next couple of days. Also Sam is so big he is 100% not going to fit in the aquarium planters, so I'm going to have to split him and then what to do with the other half of Sam?? I HAVE NO IDEA. *FACEPALM*
On a related note, Cas and Dean are doing well in the aquarium still, particularly Dean, who is growing vines over toward Cas. Getting grabby. Sounds about right. XD
The actual AQUATIC plants are a whole new ballywhack to me, though, so idk if I'm even going to be able to keep them ALIVE. I've never tried underwater plants before, so I'm just kind of like. Sticking them in the tank with all my hopes and prayers. I should probably name them, too, actually, but then again apparently axolotls are known to tear plants apart when they get bigger so maybe best not to get too attached to them yet. lol.
Also I still want some duckweed but I also still have NO IDEA where to get it. :| I'm going to ask at the aquarium store in Barrie but I feel like it's more of a pond supply store thing and I have no clue where one of those might be since Critter Cove stopped selling pond stuff?? So yeah.
EDIT: Yesterday on our way to dinner, Mom and I stopped at Tremblay's out the other side of town so I could buy some wormies for my new axolotl! A dozen worms cost me $4.95 which isn't bad. (The last time I bought worms from the pet store they cost me TWENTY DOLLARS for a dozen worms so like I AM NOT COMPLAINING.)
