It seems like everyone had a pretty okay Christmas... good. I'm glad. ^^

Yesterday, when Mom got off work (yes, she has to work on Christmas day), she picked me up and we headed back to her house... the plan being to pick my Step-Dad up, and head north to my Grandparents house.

When we got there, however, Amy and Brad were there. They're my long-long lost step-sister and step-brother, whom we see maybe once a year if we're lucky. So instead of leaving right away, we sat around and talked with them for a little while--Amy had brought her new puppy with her. His name is Paco, and he's a toy chiuawa. But I obviously can't spell that word for the life of me. O_O; Is there even a w in there at all?

He was cute... his head was the same size as the rest of his body, though. Bobblehead doggie! I wouldn't want to own one, but to each his own. I like animals that are furry and fluffy and cuddly-looking. >^-^;; So does Mom, actually...

Once Amy and Brad left, we piled our stuff in the car and drove up to Grandma and Grandpa's--we were already about an hour and a half late at that point. Which isn't a big deal, except that meant that everyone had to wait for us before they ate dinner, so we got poked about that. Repeatedly. ...but in a friendly manner, so that's okay.

My Grandma makes the best damn stuffing ever. *_* *drools* But I'm sure most people say that about at least one member of their family, so I won't go into details of the meal itself. It was awesome, but just a traditional Christmas dinner--turkey, stuffing, potatoes, veggies, etc. Date squares, broken-glass torte, mince pies and fruit cookies for dessert.

After that, Grandma cleaned up the tables (it takes two tables to accomidate us all ^^;;) and then we arbotrarily elected my Step-Dad to hand out the gifts, since he was the only one wearing a Santa hat this year. XD

I got DVDs of Mulan, Aladdin and Van Helsing from my Grandparents. I knew I was getting them, but I'm still happy about it. ^_~ Maa... Disney is releasing everything on DVD now, so I have to re-collect it all... at least they do it in time for Christmas, so I can put them on my list. ^^;

Even though Trunks didn't go, he got a couple of shirts and a DVD of The Alamo; and actually, one of my cousins, Darrius, didn't want to go either, so he wasn't there. It makes me feel a bit better about Trunks not wanting to go, since he's not the only one.

Then we all buckled down and dug out our generic, non-labelled gifts, and drew numbers for the Chinese-auction thing that we do every year. ^_^ They're always fun... last year, there was a crystal dragon in the mix that everyone wanted. We traded that thing around for about an hour until Trunks eventually ended up with it.

This year the most popular thing was the candle-lanterns that I put in. I actually bought them back in February, and I got them from a Halmark store, so the sales woman wrapped them up for me too--I hadn't even seen them since then, so I had totally forgot what they looked like... so pretty! And since they didn't cost as much as I was allowed supposed to spend, I bought a cute little plush loon to go in as filler. When you squeeze it, it does the loon call.

Eventually, I ended up with them. And even though I wanted the loon (kawaii!), and loved the candle-lanterns, I have nowhere to put something like that. And since Mom was giving my kind of sad looks the entire time (I stole them from her), I just gave the candle-lanterns to her. ^^ She really wanted them, and I have nowhere to put them, so she can have them.

I kept the loon, though. XD

So then Mom had two gifts... and have her other one to Grandma. And then Grandma had two gifts... and gave her other one to Alex. But since Alex wasn't in the game, that's where the extra trading ended. Except that Grandpa had ended up with an electric screwdriver, and already has one... so he gave it to me. O_o;

I was like "thank you!" and then I did the real-life equivallent of sweatdropping for the next few minutes... at the same time, I just moved out on my own and have no tools, so it'll come in handy. ^_~

It was 11:30pm by the time we made it home, but I still uwrapped Van Helsing and watched it then--because it was one I really really wanted to see--and it was awesome. >^-^< I kinda want to watch it again, actually...

....

Maaa. Spending time with my family always makes me happy, but this year it's been especially great. Just having fun and forgetting all my problems and pretending that I have no worries for one night. Thank you everyone!

Oh.

Grandma also gave me my birthday present yesterday, since my birthday is on January 3rd--she got me Avril Lavine's newest CD, a new photo album (since I've filled mine up completely), some blank CDs, some film for my camera, a bunch of AA batteries (I always ask for those) and a 2005 calendar, with fun cartoon cats on it.

My Happy Ending on the Avril CD has started a random plot bunny chewing at me, and now I'm tinkering with a new Heralds of Valdemar One-Shot-Songfic plotline, which is probably going to be disturbingly depressing--

Tosca: :As freaking usual.: =_=;;;

Ran: *patpat* ^^;;;

--yeah. Ahahaha... ^^;
