Sofi Needs A Title
Jun. 20th, 2024 11:11 amSofi Warden is 100% an unintentional Buffy The Vampire Slayer fan-character, and I am so sorry.
She is 17/18-ish, a club kid, dyes her hair on the regular, and loves hanging with her friends... and hunts vampires and all things that go bump in the night as her full-time gig. But she's not ACTUALLY a Buffy character, so she's not a Slayer or anything, I think it's more just in the Warden family lineage to hunt monsters? So a mix of Buffy, SPN, Grimm and original? idek anymore, Sofi is getting complicated. I DO know that she falls in with a group of like-minded individuals about her age (who don't have the lineage but Hunt anyway) and that's where she finds her People, after years of feeling like an outcast.
So I guess I need to create some friends for her, too! Possibly even a love interest! Yay yet another new project! :D

Sofi's new wig arrived today and it was worth every penny! It looks great on her! It turns out it's a three-color wig, the top green bleeds into aqua, which bleeds into pink in the pigtails, which wasn't really shown in the pictures when I bought it, but that's fine with me, I love it anyway. <3

Jun. 1st, 2024 11:23 amI've been pondering Sofi the last couple days. Her name is definitely Sofi, but I don't know if I like the name "Kinsbury" for the last name after all. Hmm. :| I might change it, if I can think of anything better. I'm kind of partial to "Warden" actually, but idk idk idk, still thinking about it. ANYWAY.
Right now Sofi is wearing the wig that I attempted to dye for her. It didn't come out the right color and then drying it made it stick up in weird places and just in general I'm not happy with it, so I ordered a new one, which I am PRAYING fits her because it was EXPANSIVE. Like. Not THE MOST EXPENSIVE but still EXPENSIVE. So assuming all goes well, she will have green pigtails to go with her green eyes, and a totally white outfit!
But I'm trying to pin down her personality and running into trouble there. Originally she was going to be a vampire from a story idea I had, but I think I'm going to drop that. She COULD still be a vampire, just not THAT vampire, I guess. Or she could be a vampire HUNTER, which I actually like better. I think she's going to be one of those Cute But Deadly characters, that no one suspects is hiding a switchblade in her pocket all the time. idk I still need to figure out her personality more.
And then of course are her tattoos, which I still have NO IDEA on, just that they cover her upper body/arms and are awesome. If she's a vampire hunter they could be all about the vampire lore, I suppose, which could be cool, or all about hunting IN GENERAL, so lore on all kinds of beasties? It's going to take me a long time to design her tattoos and even longer to paint them on so this is a long-term kind of project. :D;;

Tattooed Dolls
May. 9th, 2024 11:19 amOkay so I have decided I am going to attempt painting tattoos on Sofi to cover up all the ugly, blotchy marks left by the sweater. Right now she looks like someone beat her up. :<
But it's going to be a HUGE experiment for me, so we'll see how it goes. (I have fine tip acrylic paint markers and nice colored pencils that I bought specifically for doing doll tattoos SO.) I guess the worst that happens is I fuck it up and have to scrap this body and buy another one (it was cheap), but given that it's already basically ruined how badly can it go, really, right? Not really sure what direction I want to go with her tattoos, but I'm brainstorming about it atm.
This is also going to be a good practice go because Tyler is supposed to have EXTENSIVE tattooing that I've been DREADING because he was expensive and I didn't want to screw him up.
Also I decided that Sofi is the vampire from that story idea I posted under f-lock a few days ago. Baby face but a monster underneath! :D
EDIT: Oh and completely unrelated but I decided to start watching American Horror Story: Hotel after all, and skipping Freak Show is bothering me less than I originally thought it would. So yay for that?

vanimadin yesterday, mostly for the extra icon space and image storage space. Not a "professional" account like this DW is though, just a regular paid account, I don't need THAT much icon space for my writing blog. :P

The discoloration that the sweater I had on now!Sofi left behind. It's all over her upper body. I'm really hoping I can get it off with a magic eraser. Also hoping washing the sweater with salt will keep it from doing this to new!Wren. =/
EDIT: UGH THE MAGIC ERASER DIDN'T WORK. SOFI IS SCARRED FOR LIFE. SO MAD AT PABADOLL. >:[
EDIT #2: Actually, I wonder if I could cover the ugly spots with "tattoos" or something like that. .__.
Sofi Kinsbury
May. 7th, 2024 10:36 amI mentioned before that my current Wren doll isn't cutting it for me; her proportions are off and don't match Katie/Tyler/Aidan/etc. and it's bugging the ever-loving CRAP out of me, especially since I got Katie (serves me right for going cheap and buying the body and head separately) so I'm going to redo Wren with a different doll and use my current!Wren as... a new, unrelated character!
To that end, today I am going out to buy some dye to attempt to dye her wig, and I have ordered some clothes for her off AliExpress that should be here in the next 2-3 weeks. Her eyes might have to stay blue because it was a BITCH to get them to stay in to begin with so I fucking GLUED them (regretting my life choices right now), but at least I got her glasses off (also glued in place), though now I need to order new glasses for Wren when the time comes because they got destroyed in the process. At least they were cheap.
Anyway, I'm actually glad I did all this with this doll and not actual, expensive!Wren because it turns out the sweater I had her in? Yeah. Totally dyed her "skin" in patches all over her upper body, it looks like mould or bruises. I'm going to take a magic eraser to them and see what I can do because right now they look TERRIBLE, and I'm going to wash the sweater with salt and see if that doesn't set the color? I've never had this happen with doll clothes before, and right now I'm a little annoyed with the company I bought it from (PABAdoll) but there isn't much that can be done about it at this point, really.
I really want that sweater for Wren, too, dammit. That's a Wren!sweater. =/
So New-Old doll is going to be named Sofi Kinsbury and I don't know if she's going to fit into one of my universes (probably not TKA for once) or just be a stand-alone character, but she's going to have green (possibly aquamarine depending on how the dye takes to the blonde wig) hair and HOPEFULLY green eyes, but possibly blue because I might not be able to get the blue ones OUT. =/
So far I've got her stripped to her skivvies (including removing her glasses), bald, and with her headcap taken off so I can (hopefully) figure out a way to remove her eyes. Maybe acetone? idek.
Will update with progress later. :D
