Grey-blue eyes fixed on the screen in front of her. Hands lay, fingers unmoving, against the keyboard. One dark brown eyebrow was raised, ever-so-slightly, in a contemplative expression.
"This can't possibly be good."
Heaving a sigh, Sena spun around in her chair to face the speaker; a young man with aquamarine colored hair and eyes, who was straddling a backward chair by the dining room table, arms clasped along the top rail of the back of it, half-peering over toward the computer.
Before she could reprimand him for interrupting her, though, a second voice commented; "Keep your nose out of it, Hikaru."
"Maa..." Hikaru heaved a sigh, stretching his arms above his head, and turned his eyes toward the living room. "You're probably right, Kestrel-san. Why risk the wrath of the Gods?"
Herald Kestrel Barrett nodded seriously, but over in the armchair a dark haired girl was shaking her head, a put-upong expression on her face.
"Hikaru-san, the Gods have nothing to do with it," Taiga told him firmly. "But if you catch Sena-sama's attention, who
knows what kind of scenes she'll think up for you..."
"Ones that'll include you, no doubt, Taiga-chan." Hikaru chuckled cheerfully.
One of Sena's eyebrows was ticking, a barely-visible twitch against her dark bangs. One finger tapped absently against the computer desk as she eyed the assortment of men, women, animals and rather arrogant blue-eyes horses that were lounging around the main floor of her home.
"You all need to mind your own business."
:Easier said than done, Lady Sena.: One of the Companions, Lindy, coughed, a feeling of amusment clear in his Mindvoice.
:What with your keyboard seeming to be stuck in 'angst' mode and everything...:"Only for you Valdemarians, Lindy-san!" An orange-haired girl piped up, giggling. "She's done quite a bit of fun stuff with us lately!"
"Nozomi,
you're just happy 'cause she and Cassandra-sama flinging you at Kin-sama." A second girl, who looked remarkably like Nozomi with the exception of having red hair instead of orange, snorted.
"MOU! And
you're just upset 'cause they've made a mess of you and Hide-sama!"
:Must you really bring Cassandra into this as well?: This second Mindvoice didn't belong to Lindy, and a second Companion, looking nonplussed, flicked an ear idly.
:She seems like nothing but trouble, and I've got enough of that
with just Sena.:A sniff from her Herald, and Ristav rubbed at her nose. "I will admit, our lived have been nothing if not interesting, lately..."
"Oi! At least they didn't kill off all your friends and family and leave you to become hateful and bitter!" Hikaru hadn't said anything for a while, and obviously felt the need to reinstate himelf in the conversation, despite frantic
don't! gestures from Taiga.
"Anou... Hikaru-san," a male voice coughed, sounding embarrassed, and all eyes turned toward Yasuo Midori, who gave a nervous smile. "I really am sorry about all that, you know..."
"Yare, yare..."
Abruptly, a question fron a short, blonde-haired Starlight. "Ne, Nova-san? Imari-san? Doushita no?"
Over near the corner, a pair of Companion mares stood side-by-side, and they were probably the only ones not focused on Hikaru or Yasuo. Instead, both sets of crystal eyes were pinned on a tall, dusky black stallion, whose mane and tail seemed to be comprized of billowing charcoal-colored smoke.
"Can I help you?" Kikin asked, practically sweatdropping at their rapt attention. One hoof stamped uncomfortably, and burning red eyes flicked from Nova and Imari and back again.
"Eto...":He doesn't look all that much like a harbringer of death.::Not at all. I thought he'd be taller.::And scarier.::And handsomer.::Definitely
handsomer.:"Actually," Yasuo couldn't help laughing as he patted Kikin's neck comfortingly, "Kikin's designation is
Famine, not death."
"And trust me," Kikin added, a bit defensively,
"you do not
want to meet Shin.":Shin?:"The Horse of Death," Miru Kou supplied with an absent wave of her hand.
:Ah.:"You know," a boy in Heraldic-Trainee Greys commented, "we're quite the motley crew, aren't we?"
"You have
no idea." A taller man, whose eyes were a shocking yellow-green, groaned, and at his feet, the large tabby-striped cat that was with him nodded affirmingly.
"We think Jeri's right about that one."
"Stop calling me that..."
At the computer, Sena sighed, resisting the sudden urge to bang her head against the keyboard.
:They're all your creations.: One of her Muses, Sterling, chuckled.
:So this is your
fault and no one else's.:"At least they all get along well enough." Her second Muse, Keir, shrugged. "They could be bickering all the time... right?"
:Keir, you've never seen them all
in a room together.: Sterling snorted, eyes on the multi-colored wolf as he peered off toward the milling characters.
:It's a wonder there aren't brawls more often than there actually are.:Sena reached to rub at one temple.
"Please, Sterling, don't remind me..."
