Medical Shenanigans
Jun. 25th, 2024 11:16 amAmong my various and numerous health problems is being chronically anemic, so every now and then I have to do a course of iron infusions at the hospital. Just under a year ago my Doctor sent me for bloodwork and it came back that I basically had NO iron in my blood/body and she was like "OH SHIT" and wrote me up an order for infusions every two weeks for the next year, which would have taken me into August (two months from now), at which point they would have reassessed as to whether I needed more infusions or not.
EXCEPT.
As part of the infusions, every second time I went they took blood to run panels on. And last week when I showed up the nurses were like "okay but um, why are you still COMING here??" because my panels were coming back so good. So they took extra bloodwork to send to my Doctor to see if she still wanted me to continue with my infusion order or not.
TODAY I GOT A CALL FROM MY DOCTOR'S OFFICE THAT THEY ARE SUSPENDING MY INFUSIONS UNTIL OCTOBER BECAUSE MY IRON IS ACTUALLY TOO HIGH, NOW, AND THEY NEED TO LET IT COME DOWN
BEFORE THEY CAN CONTINUE MY TREATMENTS. *FACEPALM* So all my current appointments have been cancelled (I mean, yay! really) and I just have one down the line in October, at which point they want me to start going once a MONTH instead of every TWO WEEKS. XD;;
Mom is going to laugh when I tell her.
