Today was the day that Juna and Tia went in to be neutered and spayed, respectively. Mom and I had to drop them off at 8am at the SPCA clinic in Barrie, which meant getting up at 6:30am and getting on the road at 7:15am to make it there on time. ~.~;; But we did it and were there with ten minutes to spare. Fun stuff.
So I filled out all the paperwork and we dropped them off and then went to a couple of stores in Barrie; we had breakfast and then went to Michaels for me to get some glue and crystals for the commission for Sarah's Mom, and while I was there I got some bells too since I lost the packs I got at Michaels when we were at Matsuricon in the summer. =/ It sucks, too, since I had a bunch of different cool colours and everything. Anyway.
After Michaels we went to the Walmart there where I finally broke down and bought a few articles of clothing, despite the fact that they won't fit me in like six months time. But I only had one pair of pants I could wear anymore, and no shirts with long sleeves (and t-shirts aren't warm enough for this time of year :P), so I got four long sleeve shirt/sweater type things and two pairs of jeans (this time ones with BELT LOOPS, so I can wear them even when they get loose on me! Unlike the last pair of jeans I bought! 8D;;) And after Walmart I stopped at the Bulk Barn long enough to get like a quarter of a cup of sesame seeds for making homemade Chinese food for Mom, Lee and my brother tomorrow night. Yepyep.
After that we drove back to Orillia and I crashed on the couch for about four hours until it was time for Mom to pick me up to go back to Barrie and retrieve Juna and Tia from the SPCA again.
Both operations went off without a hitch (which I assumed when I didn't get any 911 phone calls during the day), and I purchased some bitter spray to (hopefully) keep them from licking at their incision sites. Now let me tell you; when I was spraying it on Tia the first time when we got home, I accidentally got some in my mouth and ASDGHDSGHJFDKLHG;KL it's the most disgusting tasting crap in the freaking UNIVERSE. If they lick at it anyway, idk they must be insane. DX
I was also warned that the surgical glue that they used to close the outer incisions is water soluble, which is part of why they don't want them licking at it-- the saliva will dissolve it and the incisions could open up again and/or get infected. So I need to make sure they stay dry for the 7-10 days until everything is pretty much healed up. No biggie, right?
Except on the way home Juna peed himself in his carrier. ~_____~;;;;;
When we got home and pulled him out to spray him, he was pretty much soaking wet from one end to the other. We toweled him dry as best we could, but he's still gross and stinks and I can't even bath him for at least a week. On top of that, he was, as I said, SOAKED. So now I'm worried that the surgical glue might dissolve because of it.DAMMIT CAT, YOU ARE A MAJOR PAIN IN THE BUTT SOMETIMES.
I guess I'll have to just keep an eye on him. Not much else I can do at this point.
So Juna and Tia are in the back room right now with the door closed and will remain there for at least the next day or two so I can keep an eye on them and limit their activity. This will also give them time to start healing without the other cats being all up in their faces (Tri will insist on grooming them, and Neko will probably consider beating Juna up a little, so I'm trying to avoid that for a little while.) After that I'll let them back out and see how it goes. Needless to say, they are unimpressed with me right now. >>;;
Oh, and on another cat-related note, Dion is acting sick and like he's in serious pain again. Which of course he started after I got home, which was after all the vets offices in town were closed for the day, and none of them are open on the weekends. So if I have to take him in, I'll have to either wait until Monday or try to figure out a way to get him to the emergency clinic in Barrie-- and considering Mom is working Saturday and Sunday, I have no fucking clue how I might do that...
I'm really worried about him. ;A;
