Broken Glass Torte

Ha-HAA!
This is my favorite dessert recipe ever, so I'm sharing it with you guys. Mostly, I was thinking of Cat, though; the recipe is cheap to make (under $10), relatively easy, and makes a ton of broken glass torte. It's great to make for kids. ^_~
Assuming they like Jello and whipping cream, that is. |_|;;
So!
"pkg" = "package"
"C" = "cup"
"doz" = "dozen"
"tsp" = "teaspoon"
1 pkg lemon, orange or apple jello powder
1 pkg lime jello powder
1 pkg cherry, strawberry or raspberry jello powder
1 & 1/2 C boiling water per pkg of jello
>> Prepare + chill/set in sepparate {flat} pans. Cut into 1/2 inch cubes.
2 doz graham crackers
1/2 C soft butter
1/2 C white sugar
>> Mix, then line pan with 2/3 of mixture.
1 envelope plain gelatin
1/4 C cold water
>> Mix.
1 C hot pineapple juice
>> Blend to gelatine/water + cool.
2 C heavy cream, whipped
1/2 C white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
>> Whip whipped cream & sugar together {until they have the consistence of whipping cream}, then fold in jello-cubes.
>> Pour mixture into pan over "crust" mix, top with remaining "crust" mix. Chill 6-12 hours for torte to set. Slice and serve.
Notes:
1) You can use pretty much any jello combination you like, as long as you use three boxes. Personally, my favorite is lemon/line/raspberry. =3 (I've never even had apple jello. O_o;)
2) Yes, jello normally takes 2 cups of water to make (1 boiling, 1 cold). For BGT, though, you're using 1 & 1/2 cups of boiling water only. This means it takes a while longer to set, so keep that in mind.
3) You can use margerine instead of butter for the crust mix.
4) You can also not add the 1/2 C of sugar to the crust mix if you don't want to put it in.
5) Like you can use any flavor of jello, you can probably use any kind of juice you think would taste good. It's all about personal preferences! I actually use Five Alive most of the time. :)
6) You can leave out the vanilla, too. Normally, I don't bother with it.
7) And finally! It is very important that you carefully fold the jello cubes into the whipping cream. If you just stir them in normally, it all gets mixed together, and you don't want that; the idea is for the jello cubes to sit in the whipping cream, not for the jello to all get mixed into one big bowl of jello-whippingcream!goo. ^^
Fwee! >^-^< It's a pretty easy recipe, and one that you can tinker with pretty much all you want without ruining it. =3
EDIT: Question for
kierseth and
etcetera_cat! In your last P.O.S. boxes, did I send you an Orillia postcard? I can't remember... ^^;; ((Edit-of-the-Edit: Nevermind! I did!))
