So, way back when I was living above the drug dealers, I stole one of their cats. Basically, they had three tiny baby kittens and they never fed them or let them inside the house even in the WORST weather and one of the orange ones learned that if he came to my door and squalled I would let him inside to get warm and have some food.
Eventually I just got to the point where I wasn't willing to let him go back to them anymore, even when they came up asking after them. They literally said "I don't care about the orange one but I wish Sammy (the black one) would come back" and I was like... NOPE!! This cat is mine now you fuckers!!
The black kitten vanished entirely shortly before that, and the other orange one (the twin of the one I stole and eventually named "Gwydion" or "Dion" for short, which by the way the vet heard the story when I took him in and said "GOOD FOR YOU") went completely feral out of necessity for survival, which was too bad because he was a really sweet cat to begin with.
Anyway, a few years later, long after I'd moved out of that shithole, the other orange cat showed up basically living in the dumpster over the winters where my brother was living (and still lives) and Trunks recognized him IMMEDIATELY because he and Dion shared very unique markings. So, he started feeding him, even though he was still totally feral at the time.
Today, though, I learned that Trunks' downstairs neighbour found out this cat was living in the dumpster and took it upon herself to somehow bring him inside and give him a proper home. Apparently, she basically sneaked up on him right after Icepocalypose2k25, grabbed him and tossed him in a crate, then took him to the vet and dropped $3000 in vet bills on him before taking him home and introducing him to her other two cats... AND EVERYTHING WENT FINE. He was so happy to be inside and warm that he just rolled with it, despite being completely feral the day before.
I think he said she named him "Miska" and finding out that Dion's brother is happy, warm and fed now literally made me cry because I worried SO MUCH about that cat, especially when he turned out in Trunks' dumpster. I hate seeing ANY animal struggle, but this one especially since I had a bond with him years back.
So, that's Miska's story. And he might be an older kitty now, but he's content and well fed with lots of pets, so I'm not complaining. And seeing a little twin of Dion's in pictures, curled up happy as can be literally makes me so happy I cry.
I guess I miss Dion more than I even realized. <3
