I have been fighting an ongoing battle FOR A MONTH with McDonald's, trying to get my 2024 T4 for tax purposes, because I worked like three whole days in January of last year before I quit.
The FIRST time I called, the manager there took my info and said someone would get back to me, but no one ever did. The SECOND time I called, a DIFFERENT manager told me that they didn't deal with the T4's of ex-employees and that I needed to contact the Canada Revenue Agency. The THIRD time I called, another DIFFERENT manager took my info and said someone would get back to me, but, again, NO ONE DID. The FOURTH time I called I got the message machine and left a message that basically said "this is me, this is my contact info, I'm tired of being dicked around about this, could a GENERAL MANAGER call me please?"
And lo and behold, last night someone called! ...to tell me that they were VERY UPSET over the message I had left, that it was NOT their responsibility to deal with T4's, that no one would be going online to look up my T4 for me on the easystub website that I don't have access to and that I needed to go through the Canada Revenue Agency... and then basically hung up on me. And I was like. Fucking FINE.
So, this morning I called the CRA and explained the problem and the lady on the other end of the line was like "um, no, employers are definitely required to provide T4's to all employees, current and past" WHICH LIKE NO SHIT. But I was so done with McD's that I was like "can you just send me a copy of this T4, please?" ...at which point we discovered that THEY HAVEN'T EVEN SUBMITTED IT YET. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE SUBMITTED BY MARCH 1st!!
This means all the nice woman could do was send me a CRA Request For T4 form to TAKE INTO MCDONALD'S AND SHOVE IN THEIR FACES. With no real options I was kind of like "okay, send it" and it will be here in 10-14 days, at which point I have to actually GO to the restaurant and deal with these assholes in person.
Like literally I just want to file my taxes, here! >:[
