NaNo 2005: "Wednesday's Child"
Aug. 31st, 2005 01:25 amSo,
cat_mcdougall mentioned this year's NaNoWriMo a couple of days ago in her journal... and my response, literally, was OMGNANOWRIMO! O_O;;
Terrible. I hadn't even thought about the NaNo for this year yet, and normally I'd've been thinking on it for about three months by now. *le sigh* It doesn't take place until November, but still-- given my pentient for over-planning things before I even think about writing them, I need to get a move on with said planning before the month deadline comes and goes, as it has the last two years.
That being said, I've come up with a very vague concept, which I'm going to work on over the next little while, and hopefully get it all figured out. ^_^
It's called Wednesday's Child, and is all spawned from that old poem/rhyme:
"Monday's Child is fair of face,
Tuesday's Child is full of grace,
Wednesday's Child is full of woe,
Thursday's Child has far to go,
Friday's Child is loving and giving,
Saturday's Child works hard for a living,
The Child that is born on the Sabbath Day,
Is bonny, and blithe, and good, and gay."
So the first thing I've decided is that there is one character for each day in this rhyme; all of them have a relatively large role, but the main main part goes to Wednesday's Child, a boy by the name of Fury.
Now, given that I have a thing for somewhat unusual names in my writing, WC is going to be no different. ^_~ Along with Fury, we have Harper (Monday), Loki (Tuesday), Jet (Thursday), Roma (Friday), Aspen (Saturday) and Shylar (Sunday). They don't have last names yet... because I only just gave them first names. >^-^;; I'll get on the last name thing when I'm working on profiles. It's a relatively minor thing, anyway.
Fury aside, Loki also has a pretty big role, as does Roma. Um. Just because. (It's really hard to explain my thought processes when it comes to which characters I like/dislike/give huge roles/give piddly roles, so I choose to not even try. ^_^;;)
Eventually, there'll probably be a legend or prophecy involving these characters, and most likely the downfall of the Earth or something. Fury will be central in that part (Child of Woe and everything, you know), though he won't be happy about it.
And as is a theme in my writing nowadays, there will be a dragon. Also related to Fury... or, more precisely, the dragon is Fury. The rest of the Children are various incarnations of the phoenix, each with his or her own colored flame. Why Fury is different, I haven't decided yet, but I know that will have to do with that legend/prophecy I'll be throwing in, too.
I'm so mean to my characters... nyahahaha... X3
In any case, that's about the extent of what I can type about right now, since that's all I've got worked out. I am really looking forward to writing Wednesday's Child, though. =^-^= It seems to have some serious promise, and should be fun, assuming the characters cooperate and my Muses don't decide to slack off right at the crucial moments...

I hate you guys. =_=;;
