Not much has been happening the last few days. A lot of spring cleaning, since the weather's been nice, and I've watched quite a few movies. I'm on a horror kick and have been going through the Netflix archives for ones I haven't seen before. I'm also watching a lot of foreign movies, too.

Other than that... well, Aya's at J&K right now since he hasn't eaten in almost 10 months. ~.~;; I took him down this past Wednesday to see if they could get him to eat, but he was so stressed out from the trip down that they just kept him and tried to feed him yesterday instead. But he still didn't eat, so they're going to hang onto him for another week and try again next Saturday. idek what's going to happen if he doesn't eat then, either. =/

Back on Tuesday, I saw C.A. for the first time in almost two years! X3!! She's back from abroad and planning to stay this time. Her long-term bf is moving to Canada with her too; he's supposed to come over in June or July area. ♥ But she stopped by for an hour and a half or so, and it was SO AWESOME to see her again. I missed her immensely while she was gone. But now hopefully we can get together once in a while. In fact, we already made tentative plans for her to come over for an Asian Cooking Night some time soon. :3

Aaaand yesterday by brother came over for dinner. It's nice when he comes over, as we get along really well nowadays. I made sheppard's pie (turkey not beef) and it was all looking good until I bumped the stove and accidentally turned the broiler on. >>;; This caused the pie to cook until it was black on top and set the smoke alarm off. Then when I went to pull it out of the oven, I set one of my oven mitts on fire. .___.;; YEAH. It was One Of Those Days. (When I pulled the black layer off the pie, it was still perfectly good and yummy underneath, at least. lol.)

Other than that, I've been tinkering away at my Writing Blog ([livejournal.com profile] vanimadin) and my Food Blog ([livejournal.com profile] houseofyum) and obsessing over My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic because... uh... YEAH IDK, THE CUTE IS ADDICTIVE, I GUESS? 8D;;

Happy Halloween! ...yeah, I just wanted to say that. :D;

I actually dressed up for the first time in about six years, just for the hell of it. All I did tonight was hand out candy to trick-or-treaters, but what the heck, right? I cobbled a demon outfit together at the last minute; my red contacts and long red wig, my custom fit fangs and then around 5pm I wandered downtown and spent a whole $1 on a pair of red horns. Then I just wore a black tank top and a black-and-white skirt with my knee boots.

Also, Aya kept me company for half of the time I handed out candy. ^_^ He's such a calm snake, I took him out of his terrarium and wrapped him around my neck and he just chilled out there and basically didn't move for an hour. When he started to get restless I put him away again.

But having Aya around my neck? Between that and the red contacts, pretty much every kid who came to the door was like O.O at me. XD; One little boy was SO EXCITED about the snake, he asked if it was an anaconda and I honestly wanted to say yes just because he was so thrilled over the idea. Haha.

Anyhoo, so when I went downtown to buy the horns I was in the rest of my costume (sans Aya, though, he wouldn't have done well out and about like that as it's quite cold out nowadays) and I picked up a few things from Liquidation World, then went to the dollar store for the horns, then on the way back I stopped at J&K to get more rats for Aya and Opal.

lol Sandy and Dave were in today (they pretty much always are), and they both loved my hair/eyes/horns. Apparently cherry red really suits me, which is kind of true because I'm so pale. xD; Sandy wanted to know where she could get contacts like that and so that lead to a conversation about conventions while Dave headed off to get my rats. Man, do I love that store and the people there, you have no idea. ♥

While I was there I also got a hammock for Ven. A couple of days ago I was looking at my little rattie in his cage and wondering why in the hell he was in the small rat cage when I actually have two much larger rabbit cages currently available? .__.; So I went and got those cages, zip-tied them together into one really nice, big, lofty cage, and transferred him over.

At first it was just him and his food dish and his plastic hide, but today I picked up some things to add; the hammock, like I said, and also a big climbing rope and a honey-treat bell that hangs from the roof of the cage. Technically, the honey-treat is supposed to be for birds, but there's nothing in it that Ven can't have and I've found in the past that bird toys and treats make really fun additions for rats; and rats are so smart that they need lots of enrichment and things to play with or they go stir crazy.

I'm still thinking about getting him a bell toy as well, since Yuki and 'Nashi LOVED theirs way back when I had them. (They were my first two rats, for those who remember or care at all.) But Ven's cage is in the bedroom and idk... Yuki and 'Nashi used to flail around with that bell so much they kept me awake even when they were all the way in the living room. XD;; So I guess we'll see.

Right now Ven is still feeling very overwhelmed with all the changes, I think. He's climbed around a bit, but spent most of today hiding in his bed going >O.O< while I fixed his cage up and tidied the room. ^^;; He'll settle in nicely over the next couple of days, though. ♥

Am still considering picking up a second rat, too. Some of my rats in the past have preferred to live on their own, but based on the way Ven's personality is, I think he'd be happier to have a companion. Maybe I'll go and pick out another little male next time I'm downtown. (Then I shall name him Terra! 8D; /KH geek.)

Anyway, so that was my day.

OH. Except that I picked up antibiotics for the cats today as well. They won't cure the colds everyone's got, but being on them will keep them from getting pneumonia or other infections until the rest clears up, which is really important. So that's a big relief.

And right now I'm writing this and watching The Zombie Diaries, which will then be followed by The Zombie Diaries 2 and finally The Howling Reborn, because I can't think of a better way to spend the rest of my Halloween night than chilling with zombie and werewolf movies. =D

EDIT: And Z's battery is magically holding a charge again. It hasn't done that in months. .__.;;

HOKAY. I haven't updated in forever but I swear I have a good reason for it. ~A~;;

1) Basically, a little less than a month ago, I got a call from one of Mom's friends that she works with; she and her husband own a bunch of buildings around town that have been converted into apartments, and they had one come up available for the 1st of June.

I went O__O;; because it's totally last minute and I couldn't afford it really, between having to pay first and last and for the movers. Anyway, Mom convinced me to go look at the place anyway... and it's PERFECT. ;A; I was all *GRABBY HANDS* at it, but came home knowing I just wasn't going to be able to deal with the cost.

But when I told Mom all about the place, she kind of made the decision for me and made some calls to Grandma so that she and Mom could help me cover the moving costs. It's a lot of money, but she assured me that this is NOT a loan, it's a gift. Because she wants me out of her house. XD; lol. Not really, but the joking at least made me feel better. I hate having to take money from other people. =_=;;

Anyway, the apartment!

It's basically half of a house. It has a tiny postage-stamp front yard and a picket fence along the side that I'm going to hang flower baskets from. It also has a little strip of grass at the bottom of the fence that I'm going to line with planters as well. I WANT A GARDEN AGAIN, EVEN IF IT'S JUST A TINY ONE. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO HAVE ONE IN YEARS.

Then the screen door leads into a tiny little sunroom/mudroom where I can keep my recycle bins, trash can, and shovel/salt in the winter. Then the next door is the main one, and it leads into the downstairs part of the apartment. This is supposed to just be an entryway, but it's big enough that I can use it for that purpose AND as another actual room, as well as possibly for some minor storage. I'm considering putting my craft workspace for beading and the like down there once I find another desk.

Then to get to the main apartment, you go up a nice wide staircase. At the top is a bit of wall (a bookshelf will go there), and then the bathroom, which is of course small, but totally nice and clean and modern. ♥

Next is the kitchen, WHICH IS BIG ENOUGH TO FIT MY HUGE 4-FOOT FREEZER AND A TABLE. It's not gigantic, but it's easily at least 4x the size of my last two kitchens, and probably twice the size of the kitchen here at Mom's. She's going to be jealous. XD!

After the kitchen is the bedroom, which is maybe 1/4 again the size of the kitchen. Again, not huge, but still bigger than my room here. In there is going my bed, my reading books, my dresser, Aya's terrarium, the other snake terrarium (I'm getting another sand boa in a few months) and either the piranha tank or the turtle tank (I'm leaning toward the piranha.)

The next room is the living room, which is a little bigger than the bedroom. There goes the sofa, rocking chair, movie shelves, TV stand & etc, reference books and probably the turtle tank. Also the end tables and the goldfish aquarium once I get it set up. FISHIES! X3

Next to the living room and at the end of the hall is a SECOND little sunroom, which is where the bunnies are going to live, where the kitty litter box is going, and where my little indoor-herb-garden will go, as well as my upside-down strawberry planters and tomato planter. The plants will looooove it in there!

And on the wall just outside the second sunroom will be the pet shelves/cabinets where the food and etc. will be kept, and one shelf of those is where the tarantula terrarium will go. And that's it! :D

I'm so excited! I'll take pics and post them once I've gotten all moved in. ♥

2) Mom and Lee... are in Hawaii right now. *EPIC FISTSHAKE* DAMN YOU, PARENTS! Haha, no, I'm kidding. It's their 20th anniversary this year and they NEVER take vacations. They deserve it. And Hawaii is somewhere they both have wanted to go forever, so good for them! They're seeing the cultural center and touring Pearl Harbour, and they're going to go through the international market.

I told them they had to do the following:

1) Go to Pearl Harbour.
2) See a luau.
3) Buy me an awesome souvenir.
and 4) Not get eaten by a shark. O__O;;

3) My new turtle, Genbu! The one that I rescued a few weeks back. Until now, he's been living in a TINY terrarium that is WAY too small for him, the poor guy. But I didn't have anywhere else to keep him. At least he had a little pond and lots of food, right? I still felt guilty though.

Anyway, the pet store downtown that I got Aya from have an indoor pond that has some turtles in it about Genbu's size. Today I was downtown and I asked the owner if he might be willing to take Genbu and add him to the pond so that he would be living in the proper conditions. I explained the situation and everything.

He apologized but had to say no. Turns out like a week ago he went to a turtle rescue out of town and adopted three more turtles for the pond, so now he has six; and this maxes out the pond. He can't put any more turtles in there or it will be too crowded. He said that if he had the room he definitely would have taken him, though.

I told him it was okay, but kind of sighed because it's not that I don't want to KEEP Genbu, it's just not fair to him to have to live in such a tiny unsuitable terrarium. =/

So the owner kind of looked at me for a minute, and then told me that he admires what I'm trying to do, so he's going to DONATE a 170 GALLON TANK for FREE so that I can give Genbu the kind of home he needs. ;A; That is the kind of thing the people from that store do. They genuinely CARE about animals. It's not just a business to them.

I thanked him a million times, obviously. I still have to buy the filter for it, but that's a tiny amount of money in comparison. He even said he would deliver it to the new apartment once I've moved! It was so incredible...

I WILL CONTINUE TO SHOP FOR MY ANIMALS FROM THAT STORE FOR AS LONG AS THEY ARE IN BUSINESS.

4) Today I went downtown intending to go to Blockbuster to look at previously viewed movies, but when the bus arrived at the main street... there was a sidewalk sale going on. O_o;

Twice every summer we have a massive sidewalk sale where the main street is closed off and all kinds of vendors set up shop for the weekend. It's always fun and nice to wander around and look at everything. I usually spend $20 or so and bring apples for the ponies at the pony rides they set up for the kids. ♥

Anyway, so rather than just go to Blockbuster and then home, I ended up meandering around. I talked to the pet shop owner (see above lol) and got to pet their store mascot, Calvin the alligator.

I got a candy and chocolate cookbook, a set of meditation balls, and a couple cheap used DVDs from a bin (The Rats and Darkness Falls.) I also got a couple of leather bracelets for cosplay later this summer, as well as some phone straps for peeps I have packages for. And one of the booths gave me some free popcorn, which was deliciously yummy and buttery. :3

Haha, I did end up going to Blockbuster afterward, though, and I picked up copies of Skyline, Planet Terror, Paranormal Activity 2, Arachnia and Resident Evil: Afterlife for really cheap. Yay movies~!

5) AND! So, to raise some more money for Otakon and the 'States this summer, I've decided to have a huge bake sale. ^_^ I can break in my kitchen and have fun and hopefully make some spare cash at the same time. And then anything I don't manage to sell I can freeze or give away to family/friends or to the various charities around town. ♥

HOKAY.

So, after all of the optimism in regard to Miss Tiamat, on Monday night I had to make an emergency trip to the vet with her.

Basically, on top of pulling the staples earlier, she managed to mess up the surgical glue as well and was bleeding all over the damn place. So I called the vet and got her in right away to be checked out and sewn back up.

BUT. ~_~;;

When Dr. W came in and looked at her, we discovered that Tia had also somehow managed to pop some of the internal sutures. Long story short? Her insides were exposed to the outside and actually in danger of herniating out of the inch-and-a-half hole in her stomach. A hole that size doesn't sound big, but you have to remember that she's only a 4.7 pound cat.

So she had to go into an immediate emergency surgery to fix everything. And immediate eight hundred dollar emergency surgery. GAH. DAMMIT TIA, YOU ARE A FREAKING EXPENSIVE FREEBIE CAT RIGHT NOW.

Anyway, yesterday we picked her back up and she's doing very well now and feeling great. She's on antibiotics (of course), and I'm keeping her in the cat crate overnight to keep her from rampaging all over the place unsupervised, since that's all she seems to want to do right now. (The crate also helps since she's in heat right now; she wails all night long, but when I put her in the crate and cover it with a blanket she just relaxes and settles down for the night. Go figure.)

So, other than Tia, today I went for a nice walk since it was warm out. YAY SPRING WEATHER ILU.

I went to the bookstore at the corner, but didn't find anything. Then I went to the pet store and bought my kitties some catnip pouches for presents since I haven't done it in forever. They all went BANANAS over them, so it was worth the $10. ♥

After that I poked my nose into the Bargain Shop and got a new animal documentary DVD for $3.33; Growing Up Arctic (polar bear, seal, walrus & penguin stories.) Then I went to the Dollarama for some lightbulbs, and ended up with a bunch of misc other stuff as well; jelly tots, some plant pots, potting soil, etc. And they had the most awesome shinto temple style tealight holders! I got one for my room as well as one of those fake flickering tealights to put in it.

The shinto temple thing though... I think I've decided that I'm going to pick up another one and use it as a marker for Tri's grave when I bury him later. Then I can find him and visit whenever I'm up at Grandma's, and I'll replace the tealight whenever I do. Somehow it seems fitting for him.

Tonight was groceries as well, but there isn't much to say about that. I got some smelt for the piranha, and when I gave them the first piece tonight they were like \o/ at it. It was funny actually. I also got the makings for green chili for later this week.

Oh, and while we were at Walmart I got a copy of Piranha 3D, since they had them on clearance for $10. XD They also had Sharktopus but it was still almost $30 so Imma wait until it goes down some before I pick it up. :3

Then Mom, my brother and I went to Arby's for dinner and I had a delicious delicious roast chicken club sammich (without the bacon), some curly fries and a Dr. Pepper. It was awesome and I enjoyed it way too much, I think. XD

EDIT: Downside to spring? ALLERGIES. DX

Didn't end up going downtown on Tuesday like I was supposed to. My hip was still out and I hadn't slept in two days so I really wasn't up to it. So I canceled my hair appointment and just went to the bank on Wednesday instead. ^^;

This means I do have to make a point of picking up more rats for Aya and the fish (probably tomorrow), but whatever.

Anyhoo, I didn't sleep Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights. Like, at all. ~_~; So when we did groceries on Wednesday I said screw it and bought some sleep aid pills. lol so last night I slept SUPER WELL! 8D; Like, for 18 hours straight. I damn well needed it though, so it's fine. Imma probably take one tonight too.

Right now I'm watching Tommyknockers! I've never seen it before, but when I went up to the corner earlier I found a copy of it for $3.98 at the Bargain Shop, along with a copy of The Unborn, Growing Up Safari (Zebra, Giraffe, Hyena & Rhino) and Animal Armageddon Target: Earth. Yay cheap DVDs!

EDIT: Oh, and I re-potted my magic bean plant into a bigger pot so it can keep growing, and I also planted some watermelon seeds in my spare pot so they can take root and sprout some before it's warm enough to transfer them to the out-of-doors. I have tomato seeds too, but I need another pot. XD
senashenta: (Hotaru... Release Me)
I'm currently right in the middle of a River Monsters marathon on Discovery channel. Interesting stuff, especially since I can't sleep. Again. Last night was the same, except I was watching Hoarders on TLC instead. *shrug*

A couple days ago Mom and I had to go to Walmart, and while I was there I found Alien VS. Ninja on the shelves. You KNOW I had to have it! So now I have a copy of it on DVD YAY! I actually haven't watched it yet, I think my brother might want to watch it with me so I'm waiting. I'll ask him again tomorrow and if he says he's not interested I'll just watch it by myself.

Tomorrow I'm going to go to the mall and look for sparkly things to use for jewelry making (Ardene is a good store for that! ♥), and poke through a couple other stores as well, just for something to do. I might pick up a copy of Mastermind, since it's out now and I WANT A COPY. X3 And I need another photo album.

Then I plan to get tempura from Yamato in the food court, and possibly pick up a thing or two from the grocery store just before I head home, since I need a couple of ingredients for making curry this week.

Speaking of cooking. I MISSED IT SO MUCH. That's one thing about living here again, I have people to cook for and I'm taking full advantage of that fact. :3 Last week I made Turkey-and-Sausage Jambalaya, BBQed Hamburgers & Potato/Macaroni Salad and Spaghetti & Meat Sauce. This week I did Turkey Shepherd's Pie, Sweet-and-Sour Meatloaf, Home-made Mac n' Cheese & Asparagus and Cheese-and-Spinach Canelloni. Next week I'm planning Coca-Cola Chicken, Indian Chicken Curry and Vegetarian Lasagna. I've also baked a cake and made two loaves of banana bread. SO HAPPY. ~w~ ♥♥♥

Yesterday Mom and I went up to the mall and while we were there she checked out a couple of stores for an outfit to wear to Sarah's wedding next month. She ended up finding this awesome summery dress that looks REALLY good on her. At the same store I found an adorable floofy skirt and absolutely FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. But it was $60, which I couldn't afford, obviously. THEN MOM RANDOMLY BOUGHT IT FOR ME.

I objected because of the cost, but she says she bought it because of how well I've been doing since the surgery (I've lost 107lbs!! :O) and how proud she is of me for that and for being willing to do with cheap second-hand clothes over the course of the last year. She said it's a congrats, and that I deserve something nice after going without for so long. So I ended up just letting her buy it, since she seemed so determined. It was almost like she was getting me in trouble for the objections, actually. ^^;;

It's not a warm enough skirt that I can wear it just yet, but I'm really looking forward to wearing it in a month or month-and-a-half when it gets to be spring weather. X3

Aaaand on Tuesday I have to go downtown to the bank, so I'm getting my hair cut that day too since I'll already be down there. I also need to pick up more rats for Aya and the fish, and I'll probably meander up and down the main street, assuming that it's not a raging snowstorm.

No real news on the critters front, except that Tia is in heat AGAIN so she's being really snuggly and cute and ANNOYING right now. Not much I can do about it, though, other than give her lots of pets and cuddles, since that seems to soothe her pretty well for the most part. At least she's going back in to have the problem dealt with in just a couple of weeks, we should only have to deal with one more heat cycle after this one. Hopefully. >>;

I went downtown today to drop the check the landlord gave me last night into the bank and pull some cash out. IT IS FREAKING COLD. ;A; PLZ TO BE GOING AWAY NAO, WINTERZ. DX

Anyhoo, after that I stopped at J&K Pets and picked up all the necessary supplies for Nyoka (sand substrate, heater, water dish) so I'll be prepared in a couple of weeks when I'm done moving and can finally pick her up and bring her home. :3 I do still want to get a plant for her terrarium, a fake cactus or something to go with the desert habitat. (I also want to get another climbing plant for Aya, too.) ♥

I picked up the new lid for Aya's old terrarium (soon to be Nyoka's) while I was at it. It got all warped and ripped and bent and stuff because the cats insisted on sleeping on top of it, so before I could use it again I needed to replace it. :P

Once I got all that stuff home (the sand and water dish were HEAVY, DANGIT! Thank God I brought my backpack to carry it all home. >>;) and dropped it off, I wandered down to the Dollarama. I got a couple new bead boxes (I have like 30 of them now, omg so many beads!) and a three-drawer organizer for my beading tools. Also a kitchen knife sharpener. AND A BUDDAH STATUE! YAYZ! X3

After that I popped into Blockbuster, where their "Coming Soon To DVD" board made me squee because MEGASHARK VS CROCOSAURUS ASDGH;KL!! XDD!!

Then I bought a few cheap movies since they were having another big sale. I got Kick-Ass (which I normally wouldn't have bothered with, but Dad has been telling me for two weeks how good it is; turn out he's right. XD;;), Frozen and Clash of the Titans. I want Piranha 3D, but they don't have it previously viewed yet, so Imma wait on that one for a few more days at least. Maybe I'll get it in Barrie on Friday.

And then, because things aren't sucky enough lately, I got home just in time for the cold water pipes under my floor to burst. And when I say "burst" I actually mean "FUCKING HELL THE APARTMENT DOWNSTAIRS HAS WATERFALLS FOR WALLS". May I also take this opportunity to add "LOL" to the end of that. Because my fucktarded neighbours who always get away with stupid and/or illegal shit are currently up to their knees in water, while my apartment is still bone dry. ♥

Right, so they ended up having to go to the utility room around the front of the house and turn the water off, which I don't blame them for. Then they called the landlord, who didn't answer (because he never does) and took seven hours to get back to us about it. He's sending a plumber first thing in the morning, so we only have to go overnight without water.

It's still a pain. =/

And around 5-ish Mom stopped by on her way home from work. Originally she was just supposed to sit and have a coffee and chat with me, but because of the way things ended up, we went out to Walmart instead so I could get a case of bottled water so I could, yanno, fill the cat dishes and stuff for the next day or so. *eyeroll*

Then I poked through the discount movies. I got a set of yoga/pilates DVDs that will hopefully help me get started with strengthening my joints a little. I also got season one of The Hunger, a 4-movie DVD set of Jim Carrey movies, and a 3-movie DVD set of A Haunting (Winchester House, Connecticut & Georgia.) Fun times.

And of course because the idiots downstairs can't be bothered paying for their phone line, the landlord had to call my phone and get me to take it to them and back and forth like that about five times. Now I'm cold and tired and annoyed. Pfft.

Blockbuster was open today~ yaaaay~! And their awesome sale was still on, so I got a bunch of awesome previously viewed movies. :3

A Haunting in Georgia (as seen on Discovery Channel)
Lake Placid 3
Repo Men
Watchmen
The Incredible Hulk
Daybreakers
(<-- note: SO AWESOME!!)
A Christmas Carol
The Wild Hunt

Fun tiems! And the movie place had these Rabbids figures that are little demented bunnies in various costumes... and I fell in love with the ninja one, so I got one for my figure collection. I also had to go to the pharmacy, and they had a bunch of little toys for sale, including some LPS so I got two 3-figure sets; a seal, a cat, a bunny, a meerkat, a husky and a mouse. So cute! ♥

It's totally warm today. I mean, for January. More like spring or fall weather than anything else. So I opened up the windows and the door here to air things out. I hate how stuffy it gets inside in the winter. :P

But because it's so warm it's been raining all day instead of snowing, and to walk all the way to Blockbuster and then to the pharmacy and then back home got me SOAKED. *facepalm* So now my coat and hat are dripping wet and hanging to dry, and when I got home I had to change my clothes because my jeans were soaked as well, and my shirt was damp from the water actually soaking all the way through my jacket. xD;;

Anyhoo~

In a couple hours Ryuu-chan is coming over! I haven't seen her in forever (two years on Monday, actually >>;) so I'm looking forward to seeing her and giving her her Christmas gift. :D

EDIT: Ryuu just left. She was here for a couple of hours, and it was really great to see her. ^_^ lol, she even brought a huge box of DVDs and VHS for me to pick through, and returned some anime that she and Andy borrowed like five years ago. XD; I also ended up with the whole set of ZG Gundam and a copy of Killer Clowns from Outer Space. Haha. She couldn't stay long, but I'm still happy. I really miss my high school friends, we don't get together nearly often enough anymore...
senashenta: (Peace Out)
Today I went over to Mom's place to do some laundry and ended up going out shopping while everything was washing and drying. xD;;

First Mom took me to Walmart, where I got CLR for cleaning the lime and calcium scales off of the aquarium so it'll look nice in the new apartment. Then I went to the dollar store, where I got some craft stuff and plants for aforementioned aquarium so my fishies will have lots of places to hide when I get everything set up. ♥

Then I went to the mall with my brother, where I spent some of my Christmas/birthday money. I got three new LPS (a beaver, a raccoon and a kangaroo~), a book ("Your Guardian Angel: Connect, Communicate, And Heal with Your Own Divine Companion") and a bunch of awesome movies that were on sale; Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Splice, Star Trek, Predators, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Bram Stoker's Dracula and Legend of the Guardians; The Owls of Ga'Hoole. X3

Tomorrow Imma take a walk down to Blockbuster and check out the used movies, since they have a sale on right now too~

EDIT: Also? I had the most freaking delicious fish sammich from Burger King while I was at the mall. SO YUMMY. ♥♥♥
senashenta: (Axel: Remember)
Right, so here's the actual journal entry that I promised, since I fail at keeping up with my LJ the last couple of weeks. =/

So let's see. Basically, lots of Christmas shopping and stuff. I'm pretty much done now, except for a couple odds-and-ends, and one thing that I ordered and am waiting for it to come in. (Lee's gift, which is this really awesome wall clock in the shape of a Gibson guitar, in red and 1:2 scale to a real guitar! :3 I kind of want it myself lmao. xD;;)

I still have to finish putting together the gifts for Uncle Len/Aunt Clare and Uncle Alec/Aunt Brenda. For them and for my step-siblings this year I'm putting together gift bags with drink mixes that I've made; Chai Latte Coffee Mix, Bavarian Mint Coffee Mix, Orange Nutmeg Coffee Mix, Russian Tea Mix and Dutch Hot Cocoa Mix. All handmade with love from House of Yum! ♥ Hehe~

This week I have to deliver the gift baskets I put together for Dr. K and Dr. W's offices, and on Thursday I'm getting my hair done so I have a basket for Tosha and the girls at the salon too. Other than that I'm done, so I can chill and totally not have to worry about Christmas anymore. I was so stressed at the beginning of this month, too. >>;

Anyhoo, so this morning Dad came up to exchange gifts with my brother and I; which is to say, he and I exchanged gifts and he gave my brother presents, but my brother had nothing to give in return because he hasn't had a job in like two years so he has basically no money. ~_~;; Whatever.

I got Dad two new books that he wanted (the new Pern and Shanarra novels) and a Star Wars poster, and a massive gift bag full of cookies, chocolates, candies and generally a ton of stuff that's very, very tasty. I got Lois a Pomeranian bobble-head (so cute!) and made her a necklace, and got her a set of Christmas cookie cutters.

My brother got a couple of swords for his collection (katanas; very nice ones!) and Dad got me the new Valdemar novel (eeee!! ♥♥♥!!), an ipod shuffle since my mp3 player died a couple months back, and (the best part) he got me a DVD movie set. OF ALL FOUR CRITTERS MOVIES. 8D!! HOLY HELL ASDGH;KL YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPEH THESE MOVIES MAKE ME. KEKEKEKEKE!! >X3 I'm totally not two movies into a Critters marathon right as I'm typing this, either. Really. >.>;;

LOL Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the third one. xD;;

Apparently I have another gift that Dad's not finished putting together as well, so whenever he's done I'll get that one too. .__.;

Other than Christmas stuff, I've been dealing with NAUGHTY FUCKING KITTIES lately. >/ Tia and Juna have decided the last couple of weeks that every night and every time I'm out of the house they're going to get into EVERYTHING. They get into the cupboards and onto the shelves, pull everything out, knock everything over, and chew everything up.

When I got home this afternoon they had pulled all the toilet paper out of the bathroom, thrown it around and shredded it EVERYWHERE. I literally got so mad and frustrated when I saw the mess that I started crying. =__=;; I've been trying everything to get them to stop (short of beating them senseless when they do these kind of things, obviously) and I'm having no luck so far.

I've decided that, at least for now, the two of them (along with Loki, who insists on eating my houseplants every night while I'm sleeping) are going to be locked in the back room when I'm asleep and when I'm going to be out of the apartment for any length of time (Loki is only going to be put back there at night though.) There's a lot less they can get into in the back room, so hopefully that will mitigate things. If not... idek what I'm going to do. -__-;;

At least Dion makes me feel better. When I'm upset he comes and snuggles up under my chin and purrs at me. He's a doll. ♥

Moving on from bratty cats!

I mainlined all of the Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne anime this last week. >__>; I'm horrible like that. But it was a series I'd always wanted to see and I had a chance to download it, so I did. And it was ADDICTIVE. @__@; I have such a soft spot for magical girl anime. It's terrible. Haha.

KKJ aside, I've really been on a Tanemura Arina kick lately. I love her art and storylines, and the other day I picked up the last two volumes of The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross. IT'S OVER SADFAISE. But it had a good ending and it was generally a sweet story, and the art is so pretty!

I miss my Haine cosplay from Gentlemen's Alliance though; it doesn't fit me anymore. ;~; I think that's one Imma replace, because I really love that outfit. And I really want to do a cosplay from KKJ now too, but idk if I can afford it on top of all the other ones I'm supposed to be doing this year. XD We'll see, I guess...

Oh, and I've been collecting Littlest Pet Shop animals. I totally blame [livejournal.com profile] papercut917 for this. XD; ♥ They're freakishly cute and addictive. I have something like 33 of them now. I'm running out of room on my shelves for all my little figures lmao. I either need more shelves or less figures. By which I mean, of course, I need more shelves. xD;;

Aaaand... I think that's about it, I guess. For now anyway. I'm sure I forgot stuff because there was so much for me to write about. Oops. Heh. Anyway~

EDIT: Oh, and the other day the cops were here again. Because the fucktards downstairs THREATENED TO BURN THE FUCKING HOUSE DOWN.
senashenta: (A Little Strange Because I Am)
Mom came over today for a little while. I needed her to help me hang some photos, and we needed to go over the Christmas baking recipes so that we knew what we needed to pick up ingredients-wise. So she was here for about an hour... and after we finished everything we realized we messed up with one of the recipes, so we had to go to her place to get it and re-do the shopping list. XD;; *facepalm*

But we did manage to get the list done, and then went out to the bulk food store and picked up all the dry ingredients. Then next Wednesday when we go grocery shopping we'll pick up all the eggs/milk/cream/etc.

While I was at the bulk food place I got some sea salt and vegetable glycerine! 8D ...I know, you're all going "...so?" aren't you? xD; I'm trying my hand at making soaps/lotions/body scrubs/facial scrubs/lip balms and that kind of thing. The other day I made a couple of kinds of sea salt body scrubs (berry medley scented and coconut-ginger scented) and they turned out really good. I need to get some coarse sugar for the facial scrub that I want to try out. And I need beeswax before I can do any of the lotions, but it's kind of fun and I think that kind of thing could make good gifts in the future, assuming I get the recipes down pat. ♥

Hmm, what else...

Oh. =__=;; The fucktard downstairs neighbours? THEY OPENED MY FUCKING MAIL THE OTHER DAY. THAT IS A FELONY. ...unfortunately I have no way to prove it, so I can't do a damn thing about it. I'm really pissed off about it though.

Basically, I have a handful of things ordered for Christmas gifts, right? Well one of them came in on Tuesday. It's this cute little Pomeranian bobblehead for Lois. So I went out in the afternoon to check the mail, and found it unwrapped ON THE PORCH, half under the barbecue. I immediately knew what had happened, but my suspicions were confirmed that night when I was putting the recycle on the curb for the next morning and found the shipping box in their recycle.

So what's happened is they've opened it, decided they didn't want it, and then just tossed it up on the porch in the general direction of my door. You'd think they'd at least be smart enough to put it back in the fucking box. I'm lucky it didn't break. >__O;; Anyway, I have another figure that was supposed to be here a month ago that hasn't shown up, and now I'm wondering if it did arrive, and they just decided to keep that one. >/

But again, no way to actually prove it. So. -_______-;;

Anyhoo, time for a topic change before I feel the urge to bang my head against the desk out of frustration! 8D;;

So, speaking of figures, my formation arts Roxas came in today~~ ♥♥♥ He's only my second formation arts figure (I have Axel from the last batch; and the overdue/missing figure I mentioned above is the formation arts Riku from the same set as Roxas), but I luff him. :3 He's little and cute with his sea-salt ice cream, and I love the detail in the formation arts stuff. ♥

Other than that, I don't really have much to report. The landlord has finally gotten around to getting all the trash in the yard taken care of (thank GOD; it was like living in a landfill), and I've been working on new recipes for dog and cat treats with relative success (the cheese-and-bacon doggy biscuits from last night need some tweaking.) And I've been watching a lot of movies.

GO SEE MASTERMIND. GO GO GOGOGO! I loved that movie! And now I really want to see Tangled~

Oh, and tonight I dug through my books and decided to start re-reading my Animorphs collection. SHUT UP I'M STILL ONLY 12 YRS OLD IN MY HEADSPACE, DAMMIT. XDD;;

But yeah. That's pretty much it. .__. I'm a boring, boring person.

EDIT: MICHELLE DARLING, DO YOU HAVE AN ADDRESS IN JAPAN THAT I CAN MAIL YOUR CHRISTMAS STUFF TO?

EDIT #2: I'm randomly excited at the prospect of mailing things to Japan. idk why. XD;

EDIT #3: Oh... and after two weeks of keeping my lights down so M wouldn't bother me, last night I finally had the nerve to keep them on normal levels... and guess who showed up at my door? And since I'm way too fucking nice of a person, I answered. WHY? WHAT IS MY PROBLEM? I FUCKING KNOW BETTER! ...I think next time he knocks I'm going to answer again and just tell him flat out I don't feel comfortable with him in my apartment anymore. Hopefully that'll deal with it. ~_~;
senashenta: (Axel + Roxas chibis wut)
Right, well, I've done basically nothing the last couple of days. *facepalm*

On Saturday night Mom and my brother came over for dinner (which reminds me; Maddie darling, I need you to send me like ten more boxes of the Cheesy Enchilada Hamburger Helper. All three of us loved it. XD;;), which was nice. Lee had band practice so I invited them over. ♥

Then yesterday I wandered downtown for a little while (around 4pm which meant it was after dark when I was coming home) and got some things to mail to people with Christmas cards and a second bottle of cider from Mariposa Market, as I'm pretty sure just the one I got before won't be enough when it comes time for the family get together.

Then I spent about four hours last night beading and cursing my right index finger; that's the one Loki almost bit in half (literally; I came very close to just losing the tip of my finger all together), as I still don't have feeling in the tip of it and that seems to make the more intricate beading a lot harder. =/ But oh well. Not much I can do about it.

Aaaand other than that I've basically spent 90% of the last couple days watching movies. Last night I was up until almost 9am movie-marathoning on Squall. Which of course meant that when I did get to sleep, I slept until dinner time. *facepalm* Now I'm all flipped around. Bah.

Oh, and I've also been chatting/rping with Michi (which is always tons of fun ♥♥), and last night I did have a nice conversation with Matt (one of my high school friends that I've gotten back in touch with via FB) about websites and stuff, since he runs a hosting business and does html professionally and I SUCK at it, but I'm looking at getting House of Yum and Esprit Studios sites up and running in the new year.
senashenta: (Durr...)
The last couple days I've been feeling kind of icky. Not sick, just... off. Bah.

So I haven't really been doing much of anything aside from watching movies and some rping with Michi. lol we're still rping in KH-zombie!verse. It's been over a year and a half now with the same rp. Then again, we're planning to piece it together into a fic, so the length and detail makes sense given that. And I can actually start doing that now that I have Squall and can load Microsoft Word. Yayz! ♥

Anyhoo, yesterday was groceries and this time I just needed a handful of things. Canned cat food, litter, kleenex, milk and etc. Then at Walmart I got a couple more packs of mini-ornaments because Walmart has a TON of pendant-worthy ones this year. On Saturday (when I have more monies) I plan to go back again as well. I also want to look for some Christmas gift stuff for Lois and Lee.

I'm actually mostly finished my Christmas shopping already. But I don't have anything for Lee yet (I know what I'm getting him, I just have to actually buy it come the end of this month) and I only have half of Lois' gift ready. I might pick up something else for Mom as well, if I can find something small-ish.

I also need more Christmas cards. I only bought a pack of 12 to begin with, and it turns out I need more like 20. xD;;

Aaaaaand then tonight I watched the new episode of Criminal Minds from yesterday, then the movie Dinosaur (an oldie but a goodie!) and now I'm watching Darkness Falls (another older one that I ♥ to bits~)

Tomorrow I'm going over to Mom's place to do laundry and talk to her about Christmas baking, as it's getting close to time for me to get started on it. As usual I'm making chocolate macaroons, no-bake fruitcake (for Mom; no one else eats it :P) and shortbread. I'm also making lemon cream cheese cookies again because they are ASDGH DELICIOUS. But I'm not sure what else. I think I want to try some new recipes this year. Maybe I'll try making some kind of biscotti! 8D
senashenta: (Even Darkness Must Pass)
Well, despite the disaster yesterday with Juna peeing all over himself when we were bringing the cats home, all seems well. The glue in his incision site(s) is holding so I'm not quite so worried anymore.

The back room, however, stinks to high heaven because I couldn't give him a bath. It's horrible and gross, but there's not much I can do about it until at least the middle of next week. Then maybe I can give him a quick scrub down and vacuum/wash/disinfect the back room and spray the shit out of it with Febreeze. >>;

Dion also seems to be feeling better again today. I'm not sure what's going on with him; the last week or so it's been on-and-off every couple of days. One day he'll be sick and in pain, the next fine and back to normal, the next sick and in pain, the next fine and back to normal... and so on. I'm starting to think he's getting into something he shouldn't be, so later tonight I'm going to go through the apartment and see if I can find anything that he might be getting into that could be making him sick. =/ Fingers crossed that I figure it out.

Anyway, right now I'm over at Mom and Lee's place, as tonight I'm cooking them dinner. Homemade Chinese food ftfw! :D

I brought a couple books to keep me occupied this afternoon, and some laundry that needed done, as well as Squall to show him off to my brother and so that if I wanted to do anything online I could. I'm considering watching a movie or something right now, but I can't decide which one I want to watch. Hmm.

Oh, last night I watched a couple new animated movies! Despicable Me and Planet 51, both of which were really good. ^__^ I added them to my DVD wishlist! I particularly enjoyed Despicable Me, it was really cute and funny. ♥

And...

Pertaining to the incident with M the other night... )
senashenta: (Minty & Wysteria MLP)
Today was shopping day as usual. But this week (and for a while into the future now, too) Lee was the one who took us, not Mom. She's spent like two years doing it, and finally all the chores, running around and etc. have gotten to her-- she needs a few weeks of having actual days off. So Lee is taking over for the time being.

Anyway, that all went as normal except that Sarah talked nonstop about the wedding, which wasn't in the least bit surprising. XD;;

Oh, but I am definitely doing her wedding jewelry for her! X3!! HAPPY SENA IS HAPPY! And I am going to be doing some photography for them as well, since they can't really afford to hire a professional photographer. And I'll possibly be helping with some of the catering-type stuff, but that isn't going to be decided for a while yet.

Anyway, yay~

Oh, and now I'm watching The Human Centipede on the laptop, thanks to Matt talking about it on FB. XD It's pretty screwed up, but I'm enjoying it. Which I guess is kind of screwed up in its own right. >>;

EDIT: That movie... was just... it was just horrifying. It ranks right up with Blindness for Most Screwed Up Thing I've Ever Seen. .__.; Not Most Screwed Up Movie, Most Screwed Up Thing. I mean... wow. Ugh. *shudder*
senashenta: (Axel: Remember)
So it turned out the orange kitten was from the trailer trash downstairs neighbours. I went down and asked them about him and they told me he came from there but they didn't want him back. So I kept him in my place and planned on taking him to the SPCA or whatever the next day. Then at like MIDNIGHT the girl comes and knocks on my door and tells me she changed her mind and wants him back.

Fine, whatever. I gave him back because I really had no choice, though I hated to do it because of his condition. Now I'm worried about all three of the kittens they have, since I'm sure they aren't feeding them right and I'm relatively sure they've got worms as well. And I KNOW they're all lousy with fleas. ~_~;; All of which wouldn't be so bad if they would take them to the vet, but I know for a fact if it came down to taking them to the vet or buying beer, the beer would come first.

And despite their generally iffy condition they aren't so bad that I can call the SPCA and get them to look into it...

Anyway...

Right now I'm making banana bread because I had some bananas that I needed to use up. For some reason this week they ripened really fast and in about a day after I bought them they were borderline bad. I dunno why, but whatever I guess. I like banana bread too. I'm doing two loaves; the first is just banana, and the second I didn't have quite enough mashed banana left so I added a cup of stewed rhubarb. Should be interesting. XD;

Tonight I feel like painting, I think. I'll work on my current painting some. I have an idea what I want to do next, but I haven't decided entirely.

One thing I have decided is that I'm going to do a painting for Grandma for Christmas this year-- of her little dog, Angel, who just recently died. (She let Angel outside in the middle of the night to go pee and a freaking OWL ate her. D8) I don't want to give it to her right now because it's too soon and would just upset her, but at Christmas time is should be alright...

Now I just need to get a good picture of Angel from someone without Grandma finding out. >>; Hmm.

EDIT: That movie that I linked to the trailer for a couple of posts back? Grace? It was AWESOME. X3
senashenta: (Procrastinators Unite)
Ugh, I feel like such a zombie lately. My brain just isn't working right. It rather sucks actually. But anyway, I've procrastinated over updating my journal for long enough, I figure I should maybe actually, yanno, do it. Numbers to help me keep my thoughts organized, though everything's not really in any particular order. ♥

1) The cats have fleas. UGH. I have literally never had a flea outbreak in my house (despite the number of critters) and I'm seriously not pleased with it. In fact, it fucking sucks. The only saving grace is that they haven't gotten to the rabbits. Yet. I've tried practically everything to get rid of them, too; I flea bathed them all, gave them over-the-counter flea drops, gave them Vet prescription flea drops (which cost a fortune, btw), and then tried a flea spray (I treated the entire apartment as well.) Finally, in a last-ditch effort it was recommended that I shave them all down and do the flea spray again when they were nekkid, as there was a possibility that the spray wasn't getting all the way through their fur.

So! I went out and purchased an electric shaver (technically marketed for dogs, but whatever) for freaking $50 +tax. I figure at least I can use it on them every year in the spring to lessen the shedding epidemic when it starts getting warm. I can also use it on Pagan, since he's my only long-haired bun and tends to get mats on his underside at random intervals for no apparent reason and no matter how often I brush/groom him. Anyway.

I know my cats, and I knew that Loki was going to be the hardest one to do since he's such a nervous kitty. I decided to do him first to get him out of the way, and also because I figured that if I did him later he would find somewhere to hide as soon as he knew what was happening. What I didn't figure on was my lovely, cuddly, affectionate Loki-boy going ABSOLUTELY FUCKING POSTAL. .__.;

Mom and my brother were helping to hold him, and as soon as I turned the clippers on he WENT INTO A TERROR-INDUCED HOMICIDAL FREAK OUT. I knew he was going to be nervous and a little scared just like he is with anything new, but WHAT. THE. FUCK. It was like trying to hold down a MOUNTAIN LION, right down to the insane amount of personal injury; Mom got bitten a half dozen times on her hands, my brother got seriously MAULED from the elbow down on BOTH arms, and my left leg was mauled and he bit right through the nail on my right hand, completely severing it. Then this past Monday I went to the doctor's and Dr. K had a look and is pretty sure not only did he fuck my nail up but the crushing injury was so severe that he managed to actually break the tip of my finger bone off. So of course, my hand is taking IONS to heal and still hurts like a fucking bitch nearly two weeks later. ~__~;; Sooo...

All three of us trouped to the hospital when it happened and got antibiotics and Mom and my bro got tetanus shots since theirs weren't up to date. Fun times with the family, huh? So that was the adventure with trying to shave Loki, who is still not shaved and who will never be, short of drugging him into a coma beforehand. Haha. Neko, Juna and Tri are all 3/4 naked now, though, and with them the worst that happened was that Tri puffed his tail at me while I was doing it. Now I just need Mom to help me treat them with the spray again. Cross your fingers for me that it, you know, works this time. Because if it doesn't I'm out of options short of building little cabins and inviting the fleas to move in for life.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR THINGS I HAVEN'T TRIED YET, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Haha, and then the hospital reported the "attack" (by law they have to) so the Health Unit called to talk with me and put Loki on quarantine for ten days just in case. This of course made me lol because whatever, he's a house cat anyway. XD He's officially off quarantine now though.

Loki and I have since made up, of course. :)

Moving on!

2) Today I got some catnip for the pride and sprinkled it down on the carpet in the living room. This is something I do on a regular basis, but it was particularly amusing this time because it's the first time Tia has been exposed to it. OMFG she was hilarious! I giggled at her for like half an hour while she zoomed around and rolled in it and licked the carpet and was generally all =OwO= It was really adorable. ♥

3) Aya finally shed! I'd had him for two months and nothing, even though the pet store peeps said all the rest of the ball pythons from his clutch did the week I got him. When I got home from the US he still hadn't shed and I was starting to get a little concerned. But then last week his pattern started to fade and his eyes clouded over. YAY. A few days later I peeked in the terrarium and the old skin was balled up in the corner by his hidey rock. ^^ I was hoping it would be straight so I could take a pic, but oh well. And he had been really lethargic since two weeks before I left for my vacation, but now he's all energetic again. Or at least as energetic as a snake can be. ^_~

4) Due to massive injuries and seriously excessive pain, I've spent the last two weeks unable to do pretty much any cleaning around here aside from sweeping a bit. I normally sweep/vacuum/mop/dust every couple of days, and not being able to do it was driving me nuts; the floor and carpets were a disaster, dishes (which I also do every couple of days) were piling up... last week I couldn't even clean out the rabbit/rat cages, which I HATED because it meant my poor babies had icky living conditions for a whole week.

Luckily, the last couple of days the pain has subsided a bit; not much, but enough that I could vacuum the place and do a few dishes (not all of them because my finger started throbbing again halfway through) and tonight I managed to finagal my way through cleaning all the cages out. YAYZ! Now I don't feel guilty and like a terrible Mom anymore. Whew.

Also got my bathroom tidied and reorganized, which it's needed for ages.

5) Today I took a wander downtown. It was nice out, just a little cool so I got to wear my (faux) leather jacket, which fits me again whoo! I went to the dollar store for a gift bag for a Christmas gift that I've already got 90% finished and a new shower curtain (I have to replace it every couple months because the cats like to play with them and trash them in the process), then went to Salon Salon and got my eyebrows waxed because they really really needed it. I also picked up the bulk order of eyepins I ordered from Magpie Beads like two months ago.

Speaking of which... MAGPIE BEADS IS CLOSING!! DDD8 They're moving to Barrie! They're the only bead store in town and they're leaving meeeeee! *WEEPS*

Right. So after that I had to go across town to pick up some prescriptions, and while I was around there I went into the Dollarama; got some odds and ends, mostly for other people lol. Then I went to Blockbuster to look at previously viewed movies... and they were having a huge sale on them. I got eleven movies for just over forty bucks! ASDGH! I may have had a little mental flail. XD

I picked up Terminator: Salvation, Battle for Terra, Drag Me to Hell, Zombieland, The Rundown (my Rock movie collection is ever expanding! X3), The Patriot, The Alphabet Killer, Swarmed, The Black Hole, Dragonball Evolution (out of morbid curiosity; and it only cost me $3) and Ghost Machine, which I'm watching right now. ♥

And the sale is on until Oct 3rd, so Imma go back for a few more when I get my money at the end of the month. I'm gonna try to sell some stuff in the meantime to make up for it. Hehehehe new movies make me happy. :3

6) Other than picking up some DVDs, I've seem some newer movies lately too. I'm partway through Predators, which is turning out to be fun. I won't have a concrete opinion on it until I've watched it all though. Wish I could find a better copy online... maybe I'll just wait until it comes out on DVD and pick it up to finish watching it.

Piranha 3D; I didn't watch it in 3D, obviously, but... OMFG. It was AWESOME. >3!! Prehistoric piranha + spring break = fucking fun times! I was a little surprised how gory it was, actually. Not that it bothered me since I'm already so desensitized to cinema violence, but about halfway through it just suddenly struck me that there was A LOT of gore. Go figure.

Resident Evil: Afterlife; EEEEE NEW RESIDENT EVIL MOVIE!!

The Last Exorcism; This one started out really slowly, and I almost gave up on it. It did get really interesting about halfway through, though, and was quite good from then on. The only thing I disliked was that it was filmed like a documentary (like The Blair Witch Project or Cloverfield), and I'm not overly fond of that way of filming. But it was good for what it was.

I just saw a preview for this movie, too, and it looks amazing and creepy and I really want to see it:

7) I have packages for the following peeps, which I swear I'll be mailing out soon. No really. Steph & Reppy, Lome, Kiin-bb, Maddie & Chloe and Mari. ♥

[livejournal.com profile] kierseth, [livejournal.com profile] etcetera_cat and [livejournal.com profile] cat_mcdougall. HEY YOU GUYS. We haven't done a proper P.O.S. exchange in forever! Want to organize one again? ^_^

8) Dad is coming up later this week to stop in for a visit. He's picking up his and Lois' souvenirs and the movies I borrowed from him last time I was down back in May. He's also bringing me a bunch more b-grade movies to replace them, which makes me happy because, I mean, B-GRADE MOVIES WUT. xD

I'm thinking about asking if I can go back with him to visit for a couple of days. I told him I'd help him go through the rest of Aunt Cheryl's stuff in the barn, and I want to get that done before it gets too cold out. Plus I'd just like to visit with him and Lois and the dogs a bit. I don't get to do that often enough. =/

9) I had an appointment in Toronto with the dietitian a couple weeks back. I have to go every 3-4 months for a checkup and bloodwork. I'm told my weight loss is going very well and I'm perfectly on track for where I should be (I've lost 80lbs since Feb 26th), so probably by February I'll be down to about my target weight of 130-140lbs. The only thing is that they're concerned I'm not getting enough protein in my diet, so I'm supposed to try having more in the way of cheese/eggs/etc. *shrug*

Anyhoo, the dietitian called today and left a message regarding the results of my bloodwork; my iron is low, so she wants me to go on iron supplements daily (I normally only take them when I'm on my period) and my vitamin C was really low which makes no sense considering the amount of vitamin C rich fruits and drinks I eat but she wants me to take vitamin C pills too. She also noted that my white blood cell count was high, but at the time they took the blood I was just getting over a bad cold so that doesn't surprise me.

10) Yesterday I took my camera and did a video tour of my apartment to post on FB for people, since I apparently fail at posting pics despite peeps on my f-list there and here asking for them. >>; But then I got carried away and it ended up way too long, so when I tried to upload it it didn't work. *facepalm* Guess I'm doing another one tomorrow. A shorter one. lol.

11) Been rewatching House on DVD; the first five seasons. I just finished yesterday. The season 4 finale made me bawl like a baby. AGAIN. ~_~;

12) Back when I was down in Dayton I was supposed to paint with Chloe, but somehow we just never got around to it. But when I got back home I still kind of had the itch to do it, so I picked up a couple of medium-sized canvasses. My first painting is maybe a third done now. Haha, I haven't painted in forever, and this is my very first painting actually on canvas! I'm really enjoying it (even though my injured hand is making things difficult) and I plan to do a few more.

Funnily enough, the first painting started off as kind of an abstract idea but has given birth to a new character/species. He doesn't have a name yet, but I think he might fit into the same world as Terra/Ilo/Celine/Aysel. I really like his design, so I plan to do more sketches of him, and maybe another larger and more detailed painting.

I'm considering doing painting for people for Christmas this year, too. Would anyone like a Sena!painting? 83

13) Mom and Lee are on vacation right now. They're coming back tomorrow; they just spent a few days off in an out of the way cabin-type place where they could both relax and everything. They really needed it, they've both been totally fried out between one thing and another. Hopefully a few days away will have helped.

In any case, I called yesterday to invite my brother over here for dinner but he had friends over. So instead we decided that I'm going over there tomorrow to visit and make supper for him and Mom and Lee when they get home. ♥

14) I NEED MONIES. $__$ Does anyone out there want a pony or jewelry commission or something? :3
senashenta: (Durr...)
Watching The Shawshank Redemption. I've never seen it before and I randomly decided I wanted to, so... yep. I should actually be sleeping though. Anyway, it's a really good movie so far, even though it's completely different from what I normally watch. But I mean, Morgan Freeman, right? Haha.
senashenta: (Feeling A Little Crazy)
I spent most of today cleaning. Over the last week and a half or so I'd let my tidying kind of slip by the wayside and it had kind of piled up on me. But! I'm now mostly caught up! Cleaned all the cages and litter boxes, as well as Aya's terrarium. Then swept/vacuumed the front room and mopped the hardwood where it isn't covered by carpet.

While I was doing all that the girly bunnies got to play in the kitchen, which also kept Juna out from underfoot as he is OBSESSED with watching EVERYTHING the rabbits do when they're out to play. He just parks himself by the gate and ogles them. He never tries to get OVER the gate though (which he easily could), and shows no interest in poking at them when they're in close proximity soooo I just take it for what it is and use it to keep him out of the way lol.

Let's see... after that I did the dishes and then put the girls back to their cage and swept up the kitchen after them (they always make a mess with their raisins and bran flakes when they're out to play). Then everybody got fed, which of course made for happy critters.

I also changed out all the fruit fly traps for fresh ones, and poured bleach down all the drains to take out any that might be breeding there. I've still got a MASSIVE infestation, but I'm hoping by doing all the cages and taking out all the trash and recycling, renewing the traps and doing the bleach thing I can get it somewhat under control. I'm tired of there being freaking flies everywhere. ~_~;;

Anyhoo, tomorrow I still need to tidy and vacuum the bedroom, but that's about it. Yay cleaning!

And now I'm eating chicken teriyaki and watching Eight Legged Freaks. I want to bring this one down to Otakon with me, but will be good and leave it here since it's about giant spiders. Granted, it's a parody. But still. I don't want to freak anyone out with arachnid movies. So far I'm bringing Black Sheep (back by popular request!), Critters, Slither and Leprechaun. Not sure what else. Hmmm~
