A couple weeks back I was in the Coles here to pick up a book and they were giving out coupons where if you purchased $30 worth of books between then and the 24th, they would scan the coupon and you could get anywhere from 5% to 100% off. It's a blank coupon with just a serial number so it's totally random who gets what. Well today I was in picking up a couple last-minute gifts, and used my coupon... AND GOT 100% OFF!! So I got the four books I went in for for free~! Then I was like DAMN I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MORE BOOKS. xD;;

I did pay $1, since I'd said I would donate to the Children's Love Of Reading fund and that wasn't covered under the coupon. XD
senashenta: (Axel: Remember)
Right, so here's the actual journal entry that I promised, since I fail at keeping up with my LJ the last couple of weeks. =/

So let's see. Basically, lots of Christmas shopping and stuff. I'm pretty much done now, except for a couple odds-and-ends, and one thing that I ordered and am waiting for it to come in. (Lee's gift, which is this really awesome wall clock in the shape of a Gibson guitar, in red and 1:2 scale to a real guitar! :3 I kind of want it myself lmao. xD;;)

I still have to finish putting together the gifts for Uncle Len/Aunt Clare and Uncle Alec/Aunt Brenda. For them and for my step-siblings this year I'm putting together gift bags with drink mixes that I've made; Chai Latte Coffee Mix, Bavarian Mint Coffee Mix, Orange Nutmeg Coffee Mix, Russian Tea Mix and Dutch Hot Cocoa Mix. All handmade with love from House of Yum! ♥ Hehe~

This week I have to deliver the gift baskets I put together for Dr. K and Dr. W's offices, and on Thursday I'm getting my hair done so I have a basket for Tosha and the girls at the salon too. Other than that I'm done, so I can chill and totally not have to worry about Christmas anymore. I was so stressed at the beginning of this month, too. >>;

Anyhoo, so this morning Dad came up to exchange gifts with my brother and I; which is to say, he and I exchanged gifts and he gave my brother presents, but my brother had nothing to give in return because he hasn't had a job in like two years so he has basically no money. ~_~;; Whatever.

I got Dad two new books that he wanted (the new Pern and Shanarra novels) and a Star Wars poster, and a massive gift bag full of cookies, chocolates, candies and generally a ton of stuff that's very, very tasty. I got Lois a Pomeranian bobble-head (so cute!) and made her a necklace, and got her a set of Christmas cookie cutters.

My brother got a couple of swords for his collection (katanas; very nice ones!) and Dad got me the new Valdemar novel (eeee!! ♥♥♥!!), an ipod shuffle since my mp3 player died a couple months back, and (the best part) he got me a DVD movie set. OF ALL FOUR CRITTERS MOVIES. 8D!! HOLY HELL ASDGH;KL YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPEH THESE MOVIES MAKE ME. KEKEKEKEKE!! >X3 I'm totally not two movies into a Critters marathon right as I'm typing this, either. Really. >.>;;

LOL Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the third one. xD;;

Apparently I have another gift that Dad's not finished putting together as well, so whenever he's done I'll get that one too. .__.;

Other than Christmas stuff, I've been dealing with NAUGHTY FUCKING KITTIES lately. >/ Tia and Juna have decided the last couple of weeks that every night and every time I'm out of the house they're going to get into EVERYTHING. They get into the cupboards and onto the shelves, pull everything out, knock everything over, and chew everything up.

When I got home this afternoon they had pulled all the toilet paper out of the bathroom, thrown it around and shredded it EVERYWHERE. I literally got so mad and frustrated when I saw the mess that I started crying. =__=;; I've been trying everything to get them to stop (short of beating them senseless when they do these kind of things, obviously) and I'm having no luck so far.

I've decided that, at least for now, the two of them (along with Loki, who insists on eating my houseplants every night while I'm sleeping) are going to be locked in the back room when I'm asleep and when I'm going to be out of the apartment for any length of time (Loki is only going to be put back there at night though.) There's a lot less they can get into in the back room, so hopefully that will mitigate things. If not... idek what I'm going to do. -__-;;

At least Dion makes me feel better. When I'm upset he comes and snuggles up under my chin and purrs at me. He's a doll. ♥

Moving on from bratty cats!

I mainlined all of the Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne anime this last week. >__>; I'm horrible like that. But it was a series I'd always wanted to see and I had a chance to download it, so I did. And it was ADDICTIVE. @__@; I have such a soft spot for magical girl anime. It's terrible. Haha.

KKJ aside, I've really been on a Tanemura Arina kick lately. I love her art and storylines, and the other day I picked up the last two volumes of The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross. IT'S OVER SADFAISE. But it had a good ending and it was generally a sweet story, and the art is so pretty!

I miss my Haine cosplay from Gentlemen's Alliance though; it doesn't fit me anymore. ;~; I think that's one Imma replace, because I really love that outfit. And I really want to do a cosplay from KKJ now too, but idk if I can afford it on top of all the other ones I'm supposed to be doing this year. XD We'll see, I guess...

Oh, and I've been collecting Littlest Pet Shop animals. I totally blame [ profile] papercut917 for this. XD; ♥ They're freakishly cute and addictive. I have something like 33 of them now. I'm running out of room on my shelves for all my little figures lmao. I either need more shelves or less figures. By which I mean, of course, I need more shelves. xD;;

Aaaand... I think that's about it, I guess. For now anyway. I'm sure I forgot stuff because there was so much for me to write about. Oops. Heh. Anyway~

EDIT: Oh, and the other day the cops were here again. Because the fucktards downstairs THREATENED TO BURN THE FUCKING HOUSE DOWN.
senashenta: (A Little Strange Because I Am)
Mom came over today for a little while. I needed her to help me hang some photos, and we needed to go over the Christmas baking recipes so that we knew what we needed to pick up ingredients-wise. So she was here for about an hour... and after we finished everything we realized we messed up with one of the recipes, so we had to go to her place to get it and re-do the shopping list. XD;; *facepalm*

But we did manage to get the list done, and then went out to the bulk food store and picked up all the dry ingredients. Then next Wednesday when we go grocery shopping we'll pick up all the eggs/milk/cream/etc.

While I was at the bulk food place I got some sea salt and vegetable glycerine! 8D ...I know, you're all going "" aren't you? xD; I'm trying my hand at making soaps/lotions/body scrubs/facial scrubs/lip balms and that kind of thing. The other day I made a couple of kinds of sea salt body scrubs (berry medley scented and coconut-ginger scented) and they turned out really good. I need to get some coarse sugar for the facial scrub that I want to try out. And I need beeswax before I can do any of the lotions, but it's kind of fun and I think that kind of thing could make good gifts in the future, assuming I get the recipes down pat. ♥

Hmm, what else...

Oh. =__=;; The fucktard downstairs neighbours? THEY OPENED MY FUCKING MAIL THE OTHER DAY. THAT IS A FELONY. ...unfortunately I have no way to prove it, so I can't do a damn thing about it. I'm really pissed off about it though.

Basically, I have a handful of things ordered for Christmas gifts, right? Well one of them came in on Tuesday. It's this cute little Pomeranian bobblehead for Lois. So I went out in the afternoon to check the mail, and found it unwrapped ON THE PORCH, half under the barbecue. I immediately knew what had happened, but my suspicions were confirmed that night when I was putting the recycle on the curb for the next morning and found the shipping box in their recycle.

So what's happened is they've opened it, decided they didn't want it, and then just tossed it up on the porch in the general direction of my door. You'd think they'd at least be smart enough to put it back in the fucking box. I'm lucky it didn't break. >__O;; Anyway, I have another figure that was supposed to be here a month ago that hasn't shown up, and now I'm wondering if it did arrive, and they just decided to keep that one. >/

But again, no way to actually prove it. So. -_______-;;

Anyhoo, time for a topic change before I feel the urge to bang my head against the desk out of frustration! 8D;;

So, speaking of figures, my formation arts Roxas came in today~~ ♥♥♥ He's only my second formation arts figure (I have Axel from the last batch; and the overdue/missing figure I mentioned above is the formation arts Riku from the same set as Roxas), but I luff him. :3 He's little and cute with his sea-salt ice cream, and I love the detail in the formation arts stuff. ♥

Other than that, I don't really have much to report. The landlord has finally gotten around to getting all the trash in the yard taken care of (thank GOD; it was like living in a landfill), and I've been working on new recipes for dog and cat treats with relative success (the cheese-and-bacon doggy biscuits from last night need some tweaking.) And I've been watching a lot of movies.

GO SEE MASTERMIND. GO GO GOGOGO! I loved that movie! And now I really want to see Tangled~

Oh, and tonight I dug through my books and decided to start re-reading my Animorphs collection. SHUT UP I'M STILL ONLY 12 YRS OLD IN MY HEADSPACE, DAMMIT. XDD;;

But yeah. That's pretty much it. .__. I'm a boring, boring person.

EDIT #2: I'm randomly excited at the prospect of mailing things to Japan. idk why. XD;

EDIT #3: Oh... and after two weeks of keeping my lights down so M wouldn't bother me, last night I finally had the nerve to keep them on normal levels... and guess who showed up at my door? And since I'm way too fucking nice of a person, I answered. WHY? WHAT IS MY PROBLEM? I FUCKING KNOW BETTER! ...I think next time he knocks I'm going to answer again and just tell him flat out I don't feel comfortable with him in my apartment anymore. Hopefully that'll deal with it. ~_~;
senashenta: (Babbling Babbling Babbling)
Alrighty! Today was grocery day, as is every Wednesday. Woo-hoo. /sarcasm lol.

I didn't have much to get for actual groceries, but I did have to get cat food at the vet's (prescription weight management/urinary tract care food that Neko and Loki are on) and there were Sena-prescriptions I had to pick up too.

At the grocery store I mostly picked up some dumplings and wontons (they have these frozen ones that you steam and they come out DELICIOUS and taste JUST LIKE RESTAURANT GYOUZA/WONTONS ASDGH! X3), canned cat food for Tri and fresh cranberries for making home made cranberry sauce. ♥ I also actually found some eye-of-round steaks that were 90% fat free. Finding steaks with a low enough fat content that I'm willing to eat them is rare, and they were ON SALE OMG so I got a pack of two. :3 I might cook one tomorrow night!

And since Lee was driving and I wouldn't have to actually try hauling them home, I got another set of shelves at Walmart to complete my movie wall in the living room. 8D I spent an hour tonight putting them together and reorganizing everything and now they look awesome and I looooove it. X3!! Haha, I have room next to them for a small cabinet too, so I might pick one up at some point. Right now I have a stand there that I built out of DIY cubes.

At Walmart we also stopped to have dinner at McD's, and ran into Sarah and her fiancé, so we sat with them while we ate and had a nice conversation. The more time I spend with Arthur the more I like him... he has a very grounding effect on Sarah, and her complete bullshit has gone down a lot since she ended up with him. Just for that I approve of him, though he's also a really nice guy. :)

Oh, and this afternoon (before we ran into them) I got a message from Sarah about the wedding; her mother found out I was doing the bridal jewelry and wanted to know if I could design a piece for her as well, to match a set of earrings she wants to wear. I told Sarah I could probably manage it, but I couldn't say for sure either way until I had a look at the earrings. Basically, her Mom wants a large snowflake broach, which I think I can manage. I even have a basic idea in my head using fire-polished crackle beads and swarovski crystals, but like I said I won't know 100% until I see what I'm trying to match. And Sarah's Mom is like rich, so she's offered to "generously compensate" me for doing the project. I LOVE MONEYS. \o/

What else...

Well, yesterday I was out and about and picking up a few things. I needed rats for Aya-- my baby has graduated from fuzzies to pups!-- and a couple of other items.

I got some cookie cutters from Mariposa Market, as well as a bottle of sparkling cider to take to the Christmas get together in like a month and a half. I'm way the hell ahead of myself. xD;; And while I was there I taste-tested some eggnog-fudge which was just ahguisldfghuiadfgarngvu *DROOL* *A* I am so getting some of it to take to the get together as well. :3

And while I was out I got Lee a gift card to the music equipment store downtown, since his birthday is Friday. ♥

Anyhoo! I started working on some new recipes for dog and kitty treats for Christmas presents, and right now I'm in the middle of a decent maple-and-brown-sugar one. Just a little tiny bit of sugar and mostly maple extract for flavouring. They're pretty tasty. I still want to do one more, I think maybe liver flavour and bacon bits for "sprinkles". We'll see.

Oh, and today other than Squall arriving I also got the books I ordered the other day; two of them are for Dad for Christmas (Dragongirl by Todd McCaffrey and Legends of Shannara: Bearers of the Black Staff by Terry Brooks) and the other one was a discount book I stumbled upon, Beyond The Body Farm by Dr. Bill Bass & Jon Jefferson. It's by the same people who did Death's Acre, which is one of my favourite anthropology/criminology books of all time. Which I lent to C.A. way the hell back in 2004 and still haven't gotten back from her. *facepalm* She's horrible about remembering stuff like that. I might just break down and buy another copy and let her keep the first one lol. So I'm really looking forward to reading the new one~!

I also got a little package from Maddie and Chloe today! Or, rather, from "Rufus and Reno Shinra"! To "Roxas". I LOLED SO HARD WHEN I SAW THAT. It was epically awesome. ILU GUYS, DID YOU KNOW THAT? It had a couple of buttons and some cute stickers in it. And caramels! And a pretty glass star pendant which I put on right away and am still wearing now. =3 Hehe.

And I guess the only other thing is the cats.

First; 'Dion scared the SHIT out of me today. This morning he was sleeping under the desk in the back room, which he does all the time because it's right in front of the baseboard heater. I went to sit down to check something on the computer, and reached down to move him... and he kind of flopped around and looked at me like he was half out of it, but not in a sleepy!kitty sort of way. His fur was also puffed up, which cats tend to do if they're not feeling well. This concerned me, and I took him back to the living room and laid down to cuddle up with him some-- which was when I noticed he was shivering. Not in an "I'm cold" kind of way, but in an "I'm in pain" kind of way. I cuddled him close and fretted over him and tried really hard not to panic while I decided if I should rush him to the vet or not.

Finally, he fell asleep and so did I. A couple hours later when I woke up he wasn't there, and when I went looking for him I found him playing and looking as if nothing was wrong. I don't know what the problem was, but DAMN, 'DION. PLEASE DON'T PULL THAT KIND OF STUFF. YOU NEARLY SCARED YOUR MOM TO DEATH. D8

I'm going to keep an eye on him for the next couple of days, just in case. But now he's acting completely fine, so...

Second; Got a call from the Barrie SPCA today, finally! Way back when I first brought Tia home, I called them and got on the wait list for having her spayed and Juna neutered. They were still too young at the time, but the wait list was about four months long so by the time they got around to me they'd be the right age. Sounded like a plan to me!

So on Friday I'm taking Juna and Tia to Barrie to be fixed, for $50 per cat. Let me say that again; $50 PER CAT. Instead of the $350/cat it would cost me to take them to the vet in town and have it done. They also say they can give them all their vaccines and etc. at the same time. I AM HAPPY WITH THIS PLAN AND THE COST INVOLVED. ^___^

I couldn't book 'Dion at the same time since he's still too young, but tomorrow I can call and get him on the wait list and in a few months when they get to me again he'll be old enough.

I'm really, really hoping that having Juna neutered will calm Neko down a bit; Neko is NOT Juna's biggest fan right now and keeps kissing and spitting and snarling at him, which I keep trying to dissuade of course, but it's not working. Neko seems to think that Juna is vying for Top Cat in the pride, which Juna really isn't. He just avoids Neko and defers to him, acts submissive, but Neko doesn't take that for what it is and beats the hell out of him whenever they cross paths. Luckily no real injuries have happened, just one or two tiny scratches and a lot of flying fur. Still. Hopefully once Juna is neutered things will settle down...

And now I think I'm done rambling. For now. And I have the munchies. So Imma go find something to eat. OMNOMNOM and all that.

senashenta: (Babbling Babbling Babbling)
Been watching a lot of movies and stuff the last couple of days. And Monster Quest. TONS of that too. And today I watched four episodes of Prehistoric Predators while I made like 150 gemstone phone straps. xD;

Then tonight I watched Splice on divxden, and now I've just started [Rec] 2. Splice was freaking awesome! Brand new creature movie ftw! The previews made me think of Species but it turned out to be completely different. And it had some surprises in it; they took a few chances with the plot, which made the movie more interesting in my opinion but some people might not have liked them. It's a matter of taste, I suppose, and we all know that's something I rather lack when it comes to movies. Haha.

[Rec] 2 is the sequel to [Rec], obviously, and is a Spanish horror movie that I really liked. (The English version is called Quarantine but wasn't nearly as good.) Just another in a series of foreign movies that I love. Horror/sci-fi movies are done so well in other countries, it's really too bad that more people don't watch the original versions.

Anyway, those aside my copies of Samurai Zombie, CHAW and One-Chanbara all came in this last week, as well as my copy of Lizard Baby (lmao). I went on a little foreign-movie binge on ebay a couple weeks ago, and ended up getting a bunch of Korean and Japanese horror/sci-fi stuff. I have yet to watch Samurai Zombie but if it's anything like Kibakichi (werewolf samurai) it should be entertaining. I haven't watched One-Chanbara (samurai-strippers vs zombies!) or Lizard Baby (should be self-explanatory, really) yet either. I'll watch them tomorrow maybe.

CHAW I did watch, though, and it was AWESOME. Another giant killer boar movie (there's been a rash of them lately), but this time the creature animation was REALLY A+ good. Amazing for a B movie. I'm really glad I got it. ♥♥♥

Other than movies...

A couple days ago Mom, Lee and I went to Barrie to visit Grandma and Uncle Len and Aunt Clare for a couple of hours. Before we got to their place though he stopped at the big bookstore and I poked through the discount books. I got a handful of reference ones cheap... and they had Stephen Colbert's book on sale so I picked it up to. XD I flipped through it and it's going to be REALLY entertaining to read. 8D

EDIT: Also, English version Hachiko movie? Almost killed me. I literally spent the entire last half an hour of the movie flat out sobbing. Not just sniffling a little. SOBBING LIKE A FAMILY MEMBER HAD DIED OR SOMETHING. And that was the English remake. The original version would probably just stop my heart all together. ;A;

Yesterday Mom and I went to Toronto for my appointment with the gastroenterologist. Basically, it took an hour and a half to drive there, almost two hours of waiting in the waiting room for the appointment (the doctor was running stupidly late), and then when I finally got in, the phone rang TWICE in the middle of the consult, which he picked up, and then talked about finances for twenty minutes each time while I sat there with nothing to do.

Then he told me I'm fat because I don't eat properly and don't excersize, which I'm used to hearing from doctors by now. It's very frustrating because it's not fucking true, but that he would do the surgery anyway. Then he told me I had to make appointments with three other specialists before he could even do the real consult with me. WHAT? You couldn't have told me that over the phone so I could do that BEFORE driving way the hell down there? FFS. Then after the next consult with him, it's 4-6 months until the surgery. *sigh* What a pain.

Anyway, to make up for that craptacular experience, Mom and I went to the World's Biggest Bookstore while we were there (turns out it's half a block from the Greyhound station and I never even realised *facepalm*), where Mom got me volumes 7-10 of After School Nightmare, 1-2 of Cherry Juice and Absolute Boyfriend (which I subsequently downloaded scanlations of the rest because it was so good, I'm so buying the rest of the set!), the first volume of Tsubasa (Those With Wings) and 6 of Vampire Knight. Also, a book on handwriting analysis, a nightmare encyclopedia, a book about cults, a book about the knights templar, a Sylvia Browne book on psychic children, Deluge by Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough (FINALLY) and Crime Spells, which is a short story collection about magical crimes. >w<~

There hasn't been any new news on Wally since Sunday. Originally, they had said that if he didn't show any improvement over the weekend, they would pull the plug on Monday. Saturday night, he started trying to breathe on his own again, though, and Sunday he started moving a little and his eyes were open off-and-on (though they're unsure if he was actually seeing or not). He's still got to be on life support, and obviously hasn't been talking, but since they're seeing improvement, now they're waiting longer to see how he does in a more long-term setting. We're all still really hopeful that he'll pull out of it...

And finally, tonight's Grey's Anatomy? = DDDDDDDDDDDD8 NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. I literally gasped out loud and sat up with my hands over my mouth when Merideth figured out who John Doe was... ;___; And Izzy...

EDIT #2: A couple days ago, the people who were supposed to be custom-making the boots I was going to be using for Org13!Dem and Lavi cosplay emailed me and backed out. WTF. SO ANNOYING, especially so close to Anime North. They refunded the money, and I was panicking about not having the boots, but Mel says she can make me some bootcover-things, so it should be okay. Then I can try to find the actual boots later on. Yay~

EDIT #3: *facepalm* God, lookit the edits today. Anyway, my passport came in and I picked it up yesterday. AWESOME. Now assuming I can afford it, I can get into the US for Otakon. :D
senashenta: (Roxas: content smile)
This morning I watched Monsters vs Aliens and now I'm in the middle of watching The Bone Snatcher. MvA was cute in a Dreamworks kind of way. I really wanted to see it because Hugh Laurie did the voice of Dr. Cockroach for it. XD; And TBS is one that Dad recommended to me a while back and I just managed to find. It's a b-grade, with a bone-creature eating people and everything. Fun stuff.

My brother fixed his computer last night, he had to take it all apart and put it back together again but now it's running fine, which means he's no longer bored and I can have my PS2 back. lol. In a not-really-but-maybe-a-little related note, I want KH Final Mix, but sadly can't afford it right now. ;A;

Today I went up to the corner. My legs have gotten so bad that even just walking the few blocks there practically cripples me and I have to sit around outside the buildings or whatever until I can walk home again. -__-;

Anyway, I picked up a few Canada souvenirs to send to Jose, and some more beads and charms for making phone straps and earrings for Anime North. They also have those vacuum bags, you know the ones that you put stuff in and then vacuum all the air out to save space? So I grabbed a couple to try. If they work, they'll make packing for cons way easier from now on.

Then I went to the used bookstore to look at the manga. There wasn't any I was interested in, but I did get two other books, The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz, and Vespers by Jeff Rovin. I'm in a horror kind of mood, I guess. While I was there, I was set upon by one of the store cats, Finley. There's two that live there (the other is Molly), and they're both sweethearts. But I'd forgotten I had some catnip in my coat pocket the other day that I got at the pet store for my cats, and Finley seemed intent on getting it. I was paying for my books and the next thing I knew he was on the counter with his head stuck in my coat pocket. XD; It was really cute.

MADDIE: I got more star beads for you today. I could only get six packs since that's all they had right now, but I'll pick up more later on when they get them in again. ♥

Aaaaand now for some RP rambling, so if you don't care to hear about it, you can stop reading from here on. :D

Holy hell, I posted a Roxas journal a couple days ago, and I swear half of TV just POUNCED on him. XD It was awesome, but I could barely keep up lol. Anyway, he made friends with Natsu, Lavi and Lenalee (who is one of his roommates). He may also be leaning toward being frienemies with Joshua. And he had a chat with Riku. That same day he talked with Sora since Naminé and Riku thought it was a good idea. And a couple days ago he made friends with Soul. Today he's talking to Reborn, who is another of his roommates. The only one he has yet to meet is Captain Sparrow.

I am amused.
senashenta: (Even Darkness Must Pass)
Been a while since I posted. Haha, I spent so many years writing in this thing every single day that lately when I haven't been writing in it much it seems weird. I go to post and realize it's been ten days (or whatever) since my last post and am surprised by it.

But recently I haven't been up to much... I'm actually quite sick right now (it's really TMI though, so I'm not going to elaborate.) I spent all last week trying to get through to my family doctor and failing, so I think I'm going to have to just break down and go to the Emergency Room, and probably have to endure at least one rather uncomfortable test that I can think of.

In the mean time, I was on hiatus at RY and TV, but my health always sucks and I can't be on hiatus forever, so I came off at RY yesterday and plan to come off at TV tomorrow. Being so sick the last while has really sapped my energy though; I'm not getting any nutrients or anything from my food right now (when I can even eat), and I've probably been taking too many pain pills. I've practically been living on cream-of-wheat because it's so bland and easy to digest. I still don't really feel up to much rping, but it's not fair to camp on characters if I'm just going to be away all the time. Plus I have to get back into helping with mod stuff at RY.

Anyway. Today I gave Sora and Riku a bath for the first time. They flailed around a little and generally went D8 at me. It was adorable. But they did need a bath. And I'm hoping if I do it often enough they'll learn to like playing in the water, or at least to tolerate it. They really liked being wrapped up together in a towel afterward though. ♥

I finished Foundation yesterday. It's the new Heralds of Valdemar book by Mercedes Lackey. I didn't realize how much I'd missed Valdemar until I started reading it (lol two days ago, I read for like 12 hours straight. XD;) Maybe now I can try writing some fic again? It'd be nice to work through my four-years-and-going writer's block. But I'm not holding my breath. Not being able to concentrate to write and draw is part of being bi-polar, and just reading a new Valdemar novel won't magically cure me of that. I wish though!

Today I found a copy of Razorback in region 1 NTSC format on ebay. Dad and I have both been searching for that movie for months now, and all we can find are copies on ebay that are region 2 PAL, which won't play on North American DVD players or TVs. So I'm hoping the seller will ship to Canada, but if he replies to my question about it and says no, Maddie says I can get it shipped to her/Chloe's place and then send them the money to forward it. >D

And now random pictures just for the hell of it:

Loki and Tri have a night of drinking, apparently. )

Nazoko. Still looking like Bella. I need the right wig and eyes for her, desperately. )

EDIT: It's getting pretty close to the day I'm taking Loki in to get his back claws done. The closer it gets to time, the more bad I feel about it, even though it's for a medical reason. Every time he comes and cuddles with me, or purrs at me I feel guilty. DX

Still baking cookies. 18 tins down, 16 to go. XD;

Today I got a couple of commissions for ponies. I still owe Jenn her Yuri pony, which I'm hoping to get done by the end of the week (ugh, she's been so patient with me about that one after I got her Riku ones finished so fast!) Then Emeraude commissioned an Alucard and a Pip from Hellsing. Also, another girl has contacted me about a couple of OC commissions, and a fourth wants pricing on 2 Bleach ponies, 3 Vampire Knight ponies, and possibly a handful of Happy Potter.

I CAN HAS MONIES? OwO Just the two Hellsing ones are $80 US (including shipping.) This will help immensely in shipping all my cookies. XD;;

Yesterday when we went out grocery shopping, Mom and I went to Walmart, where I found more candy canes in fun flavours. X3 I got apple-raspberry, cherry, chocolate-mint and maple. MAPLE CANDEH CANES LMAO. I bought a bunch to send to people with cards and stuff for Christmas. >3

Today I cooked a huge turkey dinner; turkey, stuffing, potatoes, turnip, carrots and creamed peas. Also gravy and cranberry sauce, and then cherry pie and pumpkin pie for dessert. OMG so yummy. But also tons of work. Plus then Mom and I did dishes afterward, and for like three hours today we were out at the mall doing Christmas shopping.

At the mall we found a 365 desk calendar of dragons for my brother, and I found a DVD of Robin Hood: Men In Tights that I made grabby hands at, so Mom got it for me for a stocking stuffer gift. :3 Then at the bookstore I bought myself volume 21 of Fruits Basket, volume 4 of D.Gray-Man and the first volume of The Gentleman's Alliance, as well as Twilight because despite all the wank and stuff I can't help being curious. >>;

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow for all you USA people! ♥

...I was so tired earlier and went to bed at 10:30-ish because I was falling asleep at the computer I had to ditch the RY Rally early! D: Then I woke up about 1:30 SICK AS A FUCKING DOG. UGH. I guess that explains why I was so exhausted. Now I can't get back to sleep because I feel so crappy. I'm so tired. I think I'm going to medicate myself with gravol and aspirin and muscle relaxants and see if that helps. Gingerale and jello tomorrow. -___-;;

Um. Other than that, yesterday I went to the optometrist for the first time in like... 9 years. I fail. He checked me out and gave me a clean bill of eye-health (though he says I do have a slight astygmatism in my left eye that wasn't there before) and was perfectly happy to write me a script so I can get colour contacts for cosplay at Otakon.

Part of the exam was those stupid eye drops that dilate your pupils hugely, though, so after that I had to wear my sunglasses. The people at the book store were like "" It was somewhat funny. At least I remembered the glasses this time, last time I didn't and had to stumble home on an uber!sunny summer day with my eyes squinted 99% closed because the light HURT. I was stumbling around so much I probably looked drunk or high or something. >>;

Anyway, the book store yielded a huge-ass book called Personology, which is a really detailed look into numerology/astrology/etc. and how to organise your own personal charts. It's a $60 book on sale for $12. >3< I love it. Also, KH2 volume 2 omgyey. X3

EDIT: Whoever gave me the stomach flu can go to hell. D:

I got my hair cut today. REALLY cut. X33 Like, I got two feet cut off for donating to Locks of Love, and then another half-foot-ish cut off in the process of actually trimming/styling it. ^.^ I literally haven't had my hair this short in about 23 years. Since it grew past this length when I was a toddler.

My head is all light and fwee~ >3<

It was hard describing what I wanted for the cut since I've never had it short before. The poor hairdresser was so confused. So in the end she went "you mean like...?" and I said yes, and if it wasn't exactly what I meant that was fine. It's just hair, it'll grow back. She did a really good job though! The only thing is that it's a teeny bit shorter in the back than I originally meant. It'll grow out to the length I wanted in no time, though. Probably even in time for cosplaying Haruhi at AN. <3

I do have photos, but I'm too lazy and tired to post them right now, so I'll do that tomorrow or something. xD;;

Anyhow, while we were at the mall (where the hairdresser is), I pillaged the discount section at the bookstore. WAH~ they had a TON of awesome books discounted! \o/ But I have no money. >>; Mom took pity on me and got me a couple; SHARKS: Savage Predators of the Oceans by John McIntyre, If You Could See What I See by Sylvia Browne, and A Short History of Myth by Karen Armstrong, all of which totalled about $17. MUCH cheaper than our last bookstore outing.

Today's Random: RudexRufus FTW. Demy-muse APPROVES. ♥ lol.

P.S. I had to get my air conditioner set up. ALREADY. IT'S NOT EVEN MAY. =.=; But unfortunately, it's been hot, and my place always gets way hotter than the rest of the house. I've been boiling the last few days. I only really need it for a couple hours in the afternoon though to keep my place cool while the sun beats in the big front window. After that it's fine.

EDIT: Oh, before I forget. Someone reported one of my submissions at devART as being stolen. The one with photos of my second Kaoru!pony. And the devART staff "reviewed it and found it to be stolen/use of someone else's work without permission." WUT? So I emailed the mods back and I'm hoping to work it out. I am rather annoyed though. :P

Today has been tiring. -.-; Just a lot of running around, and me not feeling 100% on top of that. Ahh, December is always like this!

Mom and I had an appointment out of town just after one, so she picked me up around noon-ish; or at least that was the plan. She actually ended up getting to my place early because she'd picked up Lee's Christmas gift, and wanted it to be a secret so she asked if I could stash it at my place for her until Christmas Eve. lol. It's a guitar! :3

Then we went up to Gravenhurst to the Chiropractor. Normally he works on my wrists/hands and jaw, but today he couldn't do much with my jaw because it's still really sore from all the needles at the dentist on Tuesday. >>; He did, however, fix my hip, which is awesome as it's been pressure-sensitive for about a week now.

On the way home we stopped at the mall so I could look for MLP at Zellers (I still hold out the vain hope that I might actually be able to find the winter series ones without having to go on ebay), and then to the book store where I picked up some books for [ profile] cat_mcdougall's older kidlings. (Note for Cat: I'm sending the reciept with them when I mail everything, so if they already have them or you think they're not appropriate you can take them back and buy them something else. ♥)

After the bookstore, I zipped into San Diego and found my brother's Christmas present (FINALLY!) It's a mister, you know the things you fill with water and plug in, and they make mist. I have one from last Christmas that I asked for, but his is actually way cooler. XD; It's a blue dragon looming over a pool-- you fill the pool with water, and in the middle of it is a crystal ball. *mibble* I wants it~~! lol. <3

After that, we stopped at Mom's place so I could start my laundry, then dropped Trunks off at work and made a quick side-trip to Sui-chan's place so I could drop off her Christmas present. She wasn't home, but her brother was, so he said he'd give it to her. Haha, I hadn't seen him in about five years and he's grown so much! XD;

Then we did grocery shopping, and while I was at it I bought a whole whack more Gingerbread Spice tea, because it's LOVE and I know it won't be available after Christmas time. lol. I want to send some to people in the next packages I put together, but if I can't get more next week I might not be able to. >>; I also want to send some Pumpkin Spice tea too, because it tastes/smells like pumpkin pie. XDD

Aaaand now I'm back at Mom's, waiting for my laundry to dry so she can take me home. =D;, working on her computer just makes me realise how behind the times mine is. Mostly because this one has a dual processer, and mine only has a single one; plus, the one I do have has been acting up lately, and doesn't like to do pretty much anything faster than a snail's pace. Gah, if I'd known it was going to die on me like this, I would have asked for a new one for Christmas or something. D:

EDIT: ALSO! Someone help me think of a good journal name for Eiri Yuki! ><; I picked him up as my fourth character over at [ profile] rizumikaru_yomi, but I haven't been able to do anything with him because he doesn't have a journal yet and I fail at making one. ;o;

I've just been watching Montel Williams, and he's doing a show about pedophiles, talking to their victims and trying to get into the psychology of it. Montel is the only talk show host I find worthwhile; he doesn't do YOU SLEPT WITH MY MAN and WHO'S MY BABY'S DADDY?-type shows, he does worthwhile stuff.

Anyway, one of the guests was a woman who was abused as a child, and when she was old enough, took it upon herself to contact pedophiles in prison to try to get into their heads. One man in particular, she mailed back and forth to for 5 years, and now she's put a book out with the letters; Conversations with a Pedophile.

I know it sounds weird, but I really am kind of interested to read it. I'm interested in psychology, and criminal psychology, and pedophiles are the group of people that I just don't understand at all. I just can't wrap my mind around the whole concept.

I might pick up the book if I can find it, just for curiosity's sake. It's a strange reading choice, but I've got books about everything else, so why not this? Still, it makes me feel icky just thinking about reading it. I'm interested from a psychological standpoint, but it just gives me the willies.

A List...

...because I can't find any paper, my notebook is already packed up, I need to remember some stuff for groceries tomorrow or the next day, and I know I'll forget something if I don't write it down. >>;

-Apricots (25)
-Plums (30)
-Grapes (1 batch red, 1 batch green)
-Rabbit Food~
-KNOX Gelatine (10)

Mmm, I have to go have blood work done tomorrow, so I can't eat until I do that (I have to do a 12 hour fast beforehand), but now I'm thinking about food/etc. and I'm hungry. I fail. xD;;

Also, I actually finished a book tonight for the first time in like a year. Alien: Earth Hive, because I'm a geek like that. ^.^;
senashenta: (I Believe You Left Your Point Somewhere)

I finally after like five months got the package with my twins wallet and was all omg yey~~! --until I opened it, and it was the wrong one. TT~~~~TT Don't get me wrong, I love Tono and all, but I've been through hell trying to get this bloody wallet and I want the twins one dammit! ><

That aside, today I went shopping with Mom and ended up with a whole whack of stuff. Originally we went out to look at treadmills, because I'm desperate and stupid and she said she'd buy me one. (The one we're getting is out of stock until tomorrow, do we have good timing or what?)

But you know, I picked up some odds and ends while I was out; I got the shirt and pants for my Ouran outfit for AN, for instance. I'm really quite pleased with that, since sometimes plain white shirts and black pants can be hard to find around here for some reason. That was at Zellers. I also managed to finally find a styling Rarity MLP there, which I've been looking for for over a year now, lol.

Between Zellers and the car we stopped at the bookstore, and Mom didn't find anything, but I got a couple of interesting books in the discount rack; A Brief History of The End Of The World and A Brief History of Misogyny. I have a bunch of the I Brief History Of books. <3

Then at Walmart I randomly found the exotic tea section and went gnsfuighayugflibdayugrYEY! \o/ Because I didn't even know that kind of stuff was available in this area. So then I got four boxes of new teas to try, and Mom had to drag me away before I just emptied the shelves into the shopping basket, lo; Honey Vanilla (white tea), Vanilla Hazelnut, Mandarin Orchard (green tea) and Tension Tamer, just because it had a dragon on the box and I'm so stressed out lately I'm breaking out in a stress rash on my hands. >>;;

And I also got some meal replacement powder stuff... which goes along with the treadmill and my general state of mind right now, so we don't need to get into that. -.-;

Anyway, that was my day. Yep.

EDIT: One of my new teas has catnip in it. HAHAHA.

So~ I spent a while today reorganising by movies and books a bit. I have to do that every year around this time because I always get DVDs and books for Christmas. XD; Plus one of my Ouran art books came in today (*fangirl squeal HERE*), so I needed space for that on my shelves, too. <33

I'll probably have to do it again after my birthday, too. ^_^; Which is January 3rd~ Getting close~

Ah! And thank you [ profile] kierseth! Yay paid LJ time! =3

I hope my packages arrive to people soon... most of them haven't gotten to their destinations. I need to ship stuff earlier next year to try to avoid the bulk of the Christmas rush. You guys need to let me know when you get the stuff I sent so I can stop worrying about them, lol.

Oh... and Kisa and Kagura died this morning. Well, I mean some time last night I guess. I found them this morning. They were really old for mice, though, and they were both sick; Kisa had tumors, and Kagura had been losing weight for months, and I couldn't get her to gain it back. I'm sure they're happy wherever they are now. :)

Now I only have one mouse left; Ichigo. She's Tohru's daughter from her litter last October. She's over a year old now too, so she might not be around much longer either. I don't know if I'm going to get more mice once she's gone... I haven't decided yet.

I'll think on it...

senashenta: (A Little Strange Because I Am)

It's way too hot right now. ^_^;; But oh well.

Okay. Went to Anime North with Mom! X3

We stayed at Dad and Lois' place both nights we were down there, so we didn't have to pay for a hotel. :P lol. It was nice... we got to play with the dogs a bunch, and see their bobblehead doggy. He's a couple of months old, but he was sick when he was first born (all the rest of his littermates died), and it stunted his growth a bit, so he's teeny... except for his head. ^_^;; His head is growing faster than the rest of his body, so he's like a little bobblehead. It's cute and kind of rediculous at the same time. ^^;

Anyway. Convention.

It was fun, even though it was so hot. ^^ One of the booths was handing out plastic fans as a promotion, so Mom and I each grabbed one to help keep a bit cooler. I think everyone had one. It was SUCH a good promo idea...

Uhm... we spent a lot of time in the Dealer's Room. Ahaha... and we wandered through Artist Alley, and watched Cosplay Chess, which was awesome. ^^ We went to a couple of seminars, and poked our heads into this wrestling thing they had going this year, but we didn't stay there for long.

There were SO MANY good costumes. A lot of Eds, which doesn't surprise me. And a lot of Advent Children costumes, which also doesn't surprise me. ^^ There was one Al, and some guys dressed as a gameboy and a nintendo, which was amusing...

Yeah, and I spent like, TONS of money. (Also not a surprise, given my lack of restraint.) Not all of it was at the convention, though-- Mom and I went to the World's Biggest Bookstore after AN today, and I bought a lot of books, too. BUAHAHA. I would love to set [ profile] cat_mcdougall and [ profile] etcetera_cat loose in there! ^__^

At the convention itself, though, I got a couple of keychains (one FMA Ed one, and one AC Kadaj one), and a set of black leather gauntlet/wristband/bracelets that I thought were really neat. (Mom got a bigger set for my brother for his birthday in the fall, too.) I also got a necklace for [ profile] cassandracsenta because I saw it and immediately thought of her. =3 I got some peach-strawberry pocky (for myself), and some green tea pocky to send to [ profile] etcetera_cat. And a button with Yuki from Furuba on it. And I have two fans, from that one booth...

And I got a ton of mange GNs, of course:

--Lament of the Lamb by Tomoe Kei, volumes #3/#4
--Fruits Basket by Takaya Natsuki, volume #13
--Diabolo by Kasunoki Kei/Ohashi Kaoru, volume #3
--Gravitation by Murakami Maki, volumes #4/#5
--Tsubasa by CLAMP, volumes #8/#9

There were two things I saw there that I really wanted and didn't get, though; one was a Kumagoro plush, and one was a plush of the dog alien from Alien 3. X3 Isn't that just WRONG, somewhow?? lol.

Then today at the bookstore, I got six books, too:

--Velocity by Dean Koontz
--Finders Seekers by Gayle Greeno (book 1 of "The Ghatti's Tale")
--A Brief History of The Druids by Peter Berresford Ellis
--A Brief History of Infinity by Brian Clegg
--Alchemy and Mysticism: The Hermetic Cabinet by Alexander Roob

And I got a book on monsters and aliens from Star Wars for Dad, assuming he doesn't already have it...

Also, Mom got me a FREAKING HUGE book on ancient civilizations, which goes in the set with my mythology one. There's one other on ancient history, too, that I want if I can ever find it... >^-^;; I have nowhere to put them, though...

I got some souvenirs to send out in the next P.O.S. boxes that I put together, too...

I think that's it for stuff I bought. |_|;; Mom got some buttons for herself, and those gauntlet things for Trunks, and a little mini-poster for him, too... and at the bookstore she got a LoTR puzzle book for C.A. just for the heck of it. She had a lot more fun than I thought she would. ^^

And... yeah. Now I have some photos. None of them are from AN, but I took some photos at the kennel; some are of dogs, and some are of Dad's "room" in the loft of the barn, where about 50% of his Star Wars collection is housed. Note the about 50% part. ^_^;

Holy crap, that's a lot of freaking Star Wars stuff! )

Scary, isn't it? O_o; lol.

And a few doggy pictures... )

Oh, and before we left, I also borrowed a whole bag of movies from Dad! I always borrow tons of movies from him:

--Night of the Demon
--Mimic 3: The Sentinel
--Dark Waters
--The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
--Devil Fish
--Mosquito Man
--Walking With Monsters: Life Before The Dinosaurs

He also gave me 9 old black and white monster movies in a box set that he got me, and a Gamera movie that I had him pick up a while back. X3 OMGB-GRADEMOVIEMARATHONANYONE??

Anyway. That's about it. Except to say that my kitties missed me terribly, and Loki hasn't left me alone since I got home... until about five minutes ago when he got tired and went to take a nap. :)

So, yesterday... Ryuu-chan and I drove to Peterborough. It's about an hour and a half from here to there. Fun stuff. We ended up staying at Steve's place (he shares a house with C.A. and a couple other people who are at the same university as they are, but C.A. wasn't there) and not at Pam's.

When we got there, we dropped our stuff off, and a few minutes later Pam showed up. Then we all piled into Ryuu's car and went to Walmart, where I raided their MLPs. >^-^;; They had a Beachcomber and a Desert Palm that I nabbed, and a speare Waterfire. They also had a couple of the 2006 releases, but they were in fancy sets (as opposed to basic pony boxes that just have the pony and a hairbrush), so I didn't get any of them. I also picked up some green and blue ribbon from the craft department, and we wandered around for about an hour, poking through various things.

After that, we went to a Chinese food place for supper... we were there for almost three hours, until they were closed. But we talked, and the food was really good. I know it's stupid for me to bounce over the only non-Chinese thing in the restaurant, but they had Lemon Merangue Pie! X3

Then we headed over to Pam's apartment and stayed there and chatted about various things until after midnight. At that point, Pam had to leave to meet Kevin at a party, so Steve, Ryuu and I just went back to his place. Ryuu and I crashed in the seriously overheated living room for the night.

Today when we got up, Ryuu took off for a while to the university campus (she's talking to various professors about co-op placements for the next semester), and Steve and I walked downtown to the BEST CITY BLOCK in existence; three used bookstores side by side, and another one across the street. XD WHOOT.

I ended up picking up The Encyclopedia of Gods by Michael Jordan (lol), and Unicorn Highway by David Lee Jones. The first one is going to come in handy for various writing projects, and the second one had pretty cover art. And it sounds good, of course. ^_~

When we got back to the house, Ryuu-chan was back, and Pam and Kevin showed up a few minutes later. We all visited for a few more minutes, then Pam and Kevin had to leave to go do grocery shopping (I think that was it, anyway), so at that point, Ryuu and I grabbed our stuff and packed it up in the car, then the two of us and Steve drove across town to the Chapters there. Nyahaha~~

I used the gift card that Steve and Michelle got me for my birthday and picked up No Turning Back (The Life and Death of Animal Species) by Richard Ellis, as well as the first two volumes of the Diabolo manga by Ohashi Kei and Kusunoki Kaoru-- which has ABSOLUTELY YUMMY art. =3

There were, of course, many other books/GNs that I wanted, but I didn't have the money for them. At least I had my gift card. ^_^;

Anyway, after Chapters, Steve headed off to where he works to pick up his paycheck, and Ryuu and I piled in the car to come home.

...and that's about it. :)
